I thoroughly enjoyed this! The docent was so knowledgeable about everything in the home, including the ladies crafts, which I found fascinating. Even the history of the Garden Club. Must be some formidable women to track down and get people to donate some of the items on display. There is so much I loved about this home!
I instantly clicked the video because this house looked like a must see from the thumb nail and this house did not disappoint. Beautiful doesn't even begin to describe it. Love your channel!
So glad this wonderful home was saved and is now a museum and also used for weddings and such. The history is amazing and told so well. A wonderful job was done in restoring this wonderful home.
Oh my. How I wish I could afford to just spend one weekend in the mansion. The Garden Club has done an amazing job restoring this treasure. The dresses, the rooms, the silverware, the mansion as a whole is just incredible. Their attention to detail is magnificent. I want to thank the Garden Club for doing such a masterful job at restoring this Antebellum Greek Revival beauty. Thank you Laine and Kevin for posting this lovely video! I can't wait to see the next house tour video. See y'all in the next one 👍👍🥰🥰🤗🤗😘😘
I'm going through a bit of a Greek Revival appreciation phase, so thank you for sharing this gorgeous restoration. I cringed when he said the ceilings were lowered, damaging the plaster work, and selling off the mantles and gasoliers.
The irony is that it was a school that did damage to the house; must not have offered history in the curriculum. Great and informative tour of the home, and it was fun to learn about the garden clubs Royal Court. Also, loved the outdoor iron fishtank fountain.
Best tour! It was very clear, entertaining, even with small jokes, and proud. It also enhanced the garden club members work and its donors. Beautiful mansion and reconstruction.
The carpet on the staircase is phenomenal I absolutely love it I wish you could still buy things that nice in carpet galleries today without having to have it custom-made
would love to see some videos showing houses you guys would love to tour or maybe some history on architects that have influenced your love of architecture! love your channel
We restoration folk know that 'drop ceiling with acoustic tiles' are dirty words, lol. I'm glad the ceiling ornaments have been restored along with other aspects of the property. I loved learning about the craft kits that kept ladies of leisure occupied. Really interesting. The outdoor aquarium/fountain is amazing! I've never seen one of those before. The clothing displays and other artifacts of the period (really glad to see original family items returned to the house) really add to the ambience of the home. Kudos to the Garden Club!
I just don’t understand how people can be so cold-hearted to dismantle beautiful old buildings. And I do mean there has to be something missing in their hearts to be able to do that. I just cringed when I heard that.
Beautiful doesn't begin to do justice to this mansion. Stunning breathtaking are words that come to mind. I know it comes down to money but how and why did we lose the beauty & graciousness not to mention the quality of these homes. I think very few people truly understand or appreciate a way of life that is lost to time. Thank you for this gorgeous walk through time
This was great!!! And to watch this on a big screen made my mouth drop even more! The history is fascinating! Thank goodness for the Garden Club for keeping this treasure alive & beautifully preserved. ❤❤❤
It was excrutiating to hear about how it was converted into a school with acoustical tiles and walls torn down and furnishings and light fixtures removed, sold. My heart hurt for the family who had to auction it off to pay debts. It seems after the original owners lost it, the house was really devastated before it got to the hands of people who could restore it to its former beauty and love it for what it was originally intended to be.
I'm thinking that I may have to add a visit to Natchez to my bucket list! Those ceiling medallions were breathtaking. I chuckled when the docent revealed that the carpet pattern was of horse chestnut; it's a common tree here in the PNW, though we don't have edible chestnuts. What a fascinating home history. Good job, Natchez Garden Club!
Thank you once again for sharing this magnificent piece of history. The gentleman who gave the tour did a beautiful job. I am so thankful for preservationists!
Thank you so much for yet another beautiful tour! I so love learning about the history of these gorgeous ladies. Those magnolia medallions are worth naming the house for! I love seeing historic needlework as I am a needleworker. The needlepoint bell pulls are lovely. So interesting to know they were sent to Germany for the bead work. I especially enjoyed seeing the gowns and children's wear, so lovely!
"When people were bathing twice a month." Priceless! This tour guide is awesome! I immensely enjoyed touring this house. Magnolia Hall, I immediately recognized that Glen Auburn mansion (not Auburn) was across the street when I saw the aerial view! Magnolia Hall's interior is beautiful! The library would be my favorite room. Observation: Mr. Henderson's former office had a man that resembles Kevin in a mirror. Another fantastic video, L&K! Til the next time......
I’m new to your channel and seeing these homes is fascinating. Often we hear about how the civil war ravaged cities and towns, and these homes and their stories being a glimpse of what life was like. The change in lifestyle is exceptionally profound to learn. As the servants secured their freedom and had to sort their lives, these families did too. Very interesting to learn about these homes.
This was very informative, and I absolutely loved it. Several items elicited "wows!" from me as I can't believe they still exist - especially since the devastation of the Civil War. Now a days we live in a "throw away" society, so everything would have been donated to Goodwill, etc. or completely trashed, particularly upon ones' death.
What a fabulous video of one of the great mansions in Natchez. The guide was very knowledgeable and on point about the home and Garden Club. They seem to do wonderful work. Thank you for bring this video to us. I love your channel and need to find my own restoration project.
What a stunning home. The docent was very knowledgeable and gave a great tour. I'm glad he answered my question first thing. Why the color of the outside?? Very interesting tour. Thanks so much.
Spectacular! Thank You I am so in Love with Natchez, Mississippi. You have done a marvelous presentation of true love & appreciation. I have been researching the area more & have fallen deeply in love with a couple of properties you would Appreciate. Cedars Plantation on River Road & D‘Evereaux ❤❤❤ Merci Beaucoup! Viel Glück
At one time, I owned a Greek Revival house that had not been kept or restored nearly as well as this. But it did have several of the features this one has, including one of the three original Cararra Marble mantels, including the summer cover. It looked just like the ones shown here. The stairs were also very similar and it had a beautiful transom over the front double-doors. I had wanted to restore it completely but was never able to do it. :( Ah, well.
Hey whoever this is Laine and Kevin are personal friends (in person) of ours so your barking up the wrong tree and anyone else reading this please know Laine and Kevin have been victims of alot of scammer's recently- don't fall for it
First time I have ever heard of the White House of the Confederacy in Richmond, VA. I never knew there was one. Something for me to Google to see how it looks.
Hey Laine and Kevin. Just wondering if you guys ever get up to Indiana. I grew up in a town called Rushville and it has some really beautiful homes that need your help. I know you would love the styles there.

I'm adding this house to my list of must see when we do our homeschool field trip to Natchez while we are stationed here ❤
Excellent restoration of a beautiful house. Very nice tour!
I was going to say how beautiful this home is.!! I see things in this home that I’ve seen in other homes, so pretty and the memories …… WOW!!❤

Great tour guide !
Luv'd this house & tour. Great furnishings, good hx. I wish is could have seen the kitchen.
The kitchen was located in the service wing and is now a gift shop
So glad this wonderful home was saved and is now a museum and also used for weddings and such. The history is amazing and told so well. A wonderful job was done in restoring this wonderful home.
I can't believe they sold mantels and chandeliers, or knocked down wall. This is an historical gem and it should have been preserved long ago

😂🤣😂Ignore the man in the mirror.
I love that fish bowl! There is one at Oak Hill I’ve always loved. I need one.
Another awesome house tour. Such a lovely and informative guide. I enjoyed seeing all the gadgets of yesteryear and the porcelain was just grand.
Wonderful tour. Excellent guide.
Enjoyed this so much. Thank you.

The Union used alot of these homes as places to stay. We are a homeschool family and are stationed here. It's been so educational living down here

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The amount of sun coming in the windows in this house is frightening how it could damage the furniture the carpet and the artwork
First time I have ever heard of the White House of the Confederacy in Richmond, VA. I never knew there was one. Something for me to Google to see how it looks.
Really thank you ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hey Laine and Kevin. Just wondering if you guys ever get up to Indiana. I grew up in a town called Rushville and it has some really beautiful homes that need your help. I know you would love the styles there.
It’s not likely that we’d buy there but we may plan a trip to feature some gems for sale sometime.
I want a fishtank like that.
Laine probably already knows what I’m going to say. What about the other [seemingly period appropriate] piano?!
😊❕️
21:25, the guy must have been a mason or whatever else
Did he say people only bathed TWICE A MONTH in 1860!!?!? 😲🤢
That is way better than the annual bath from medieval times.
Yup. 🤢
Lol but I’m sure they did still wash their bits with a jug and bowl beside their bed regularly. I think…
