A little about me:
I am a NYC native who always had an interest in medicine and pharmacology. I was heavily considering medical school and specializing in anesthesia until I learned more about advance practice providers in anesthesia. I graduated with my masters of medical science in anesthesia in 2021 and have worked two jobs since then as a board certified anesthesiologist assistant. I hope to raise more awareness about this awesome profession through this content. Outside of anesthesia, I am passionate about financial literacy and independence. I also love traveling and have a love/hate relationship with the gym.

7am to 5pm just for three days that’s a vibe, you can even have another part time job. If not, you can chilled at home 4 days. But if it’s me, I’m doing over time 2 days and 2 days off to rest.
Iam anesthesia technologist in India my dream job i want come USA much salary there fresher
for shifts like the 24 hours, are surgeries really scheduled around the clock like that or just emergencies and trauma cases? I wonder how busy those shifts really are.
It's more likely to be trauma/emergencies/strokes treatment/etc. so it may not be as busy but it could be. And it fulfills the hospital's need for coverage.
Is it possible from the beginning of the career to work only 3 days a week and without calls?
@@KaterinaArte it depends on the hospital but I believe it’s possible.
so on top of having 5, 8 hour shifts you might get called in on 2 of the weekends during the month and 2 weeknights? If you decided early on in your career you did not want to do call.. how much does that impact income and is that a common option or less common?
Not all anesthesia groups have call, this is something to look into during the job search. Call compensation is on top of the salary. I've traded away a lot of my call in 2023.
Do you know any anesthesiologists or physicians that also have this nice schedule or flexibility?
In the hospital I work at the attendings have the day off post call, so it may be possible to have some extended weekends. Other hospitals may be different.
I talk about this in this video:

Can you work in private practice or can you branch out into your own business ? I’m new to this field and just looking for information. I’m in texas
Both are possible, someone can own their business and work in a private practice.
Are your shifts set in stone? Like if you agreed to working five 8 hr shifts at first, can you change it to four ten hour shifts later?
Most people start on five 8s first as far as I know and then depending on the openings and seniority can move to different shift types.
Is it possible to have a part-time job in top of working as an anesthesiologist assistant?
I talk about this in the current video I’m working on :) it’s coming soon, stay tuned!

Is it possible to work in an academic setting as a CAA?
I really want to know this too. And I’m wondering if there’s any progress that you can make after being a CAA for years or if you can become a professor??
