How to Set Up Multicolor Sketch Files in Silhouette Studio (Cut By Color)

- In this video, I'll show you step-by-step how to set up multicolor sketch files using Silhouette Studio's cut by color (or in this case, sketch by color) feature. Also included are instructions for adding a pause between colors so you can easily change out your coloring tool during the sketching process.

Thank you! Great video. For me, this was so beneficial because I can sometimes get so set on doing things one way I forget that Silhouette offers us additional ways of handling our cut files that can make the process a lot easier and faster.

Great results, of course, and I really like the "hack" with the popsicle stick. For a mere sliver of a penny you've found a superb tool seemingly created just for this job, yet popsicle sticks are the ultimate multi-taskers, playing useful behind-the-scenes parts in many of the projects you show us. Oh, can you adjust the duration when you insert a "pause," or does it always go a set default?
Keith - I agree, the popsicle stick really is a handy tool! The "pause" button in Silhouette Studio is an on or off thing. There's not an option to set the duration. You just go back in and click the "resume" button when you're ready to move on to the next color.
This is beautiful. The apostrophe is in the wrong place?
Alesha Branch - Thank you! The placement of the apostrophe is correct in the original files, so I must've accidentally moved it at some point while working with the file. Totally my mistake!
Is the ultrafine sharpie fit to the silhouette pen holder?
I have not been able to find the maker holder in the UK too expensive to bring in from US but will keep trying. Great video though thanks

I want to make a multi colored design and have the machine stop on each different color section of the design so I can change out the pen. I set up pause but it never pauses and makes the design one color. Any suggestions? I just got the cameo 4 so I have whatever version of software came with that which I imagine is the latest version,
So what version of studio are you using and what machine?
What do to l you call that pen holder. I have not seen that one.
Hi, Lucy! I use the Chomas Creations Silhouette Marker Holder as my pen holder. I highly recommend it! You can find the holders at amychomas.com or on Amazon. I think they have a Silhouette Cameo 4 holder now if you have the newest machine.
