OMG thank you again Alex. I swear I watched this video 15 times and JUST now seeing how you made the rectangle in Black to show how it will appear on that color shirt!! I have ben trying to figure out how to do something similar!!!! YESSSSSS
This wasn't exactly what I was looking for, but it got me what I needed! I wanted to create a knockout with a blank space only (instead of in color), and it worked the first time. SO HAPPY!!!! Thank you a ton!!!

Hello, Here is a video that walks you through how to cut and press a shirt with the Silhouette Cameo: ua-cam.com/video/rDUWCr7wzSc/v-deo.html TRW, Grant
Any video on how to put this together. I’ve been knocking out my designs but I can’t seem to get them to align up correctly. At least one color is always off a little, even with alignment squares.

I have a question, I have been having trouble filling shapes with color some things fill with color no problem some no matter what I do I cant get it to fill, Have you ever encountered this and do you know why? Im trying to master the knockouts (which I have had trouble getting some things to subtract too but im assuming if I can get the color fill down that will help hopefully lol) and its hard without being able to fill with color to see whats being subtracted. Thanks in advance!
Vicki, They're very similar. When you convert something to a compound path, it's essentially making everything one object which makes it a little easier to work with. When you group something, it's a group of a few different objects. When you convert something to a compound path, it basically takes it out of text format (converting it to curves) and gets rid of your text box as well! TRW Alexis
I really appreciate the tutorial. I think I understand. You are just a little bit too fast for me. I will try to do it in blocks and stop and go. I don't always understand what you are saying. is a compound path the same thing as grouping? it seems like it is but not sure. i don't have an "alt" key on my mac. my husband is telling me it is the "option" key...his shows both..mine does not. Please know, I DO appreciate your tutorial. thank you.

That's right. When you knock out a design like this, it's better than layering by far. The reason is, all of the htv has shirt fibers to bond to. When you get peeling after a few washes, it's either because your press has cold spots (we have videos on this), or because the layered vinyl wasn't compatible and it had nothing to hold onto. The next really important thing! You must TACK PRESS until the final layer. This is because if you full press that first color, vinyl naturally will shrink a touch, and your next color layer will look wonky and not line up perfect. Tack press for about 4 seconds or so, let it cool a touch, and gently peel the carrier. If it comes up, tack press again. On the final color layer, do the full press and the vinyl will all shrink a few mm at the same time keeping it looking nice. -TRW Crystal
Hi Lisa! I am wondering if this process can be applied to the opposite situation? I am trying to put words on an image and I am having a hard time figuring it out.
Amanda, The same process can work on the image. I would check to see if the design has many voids in it. Knock Outs work best with a thick semi-solid object. TRW Casey
Please help me..i tried everything you do but when i press the "crop" button, my object were gone and it leaves a square shapes..pls tell me what to do.thanks.
Best way to discover new things is to experiment for sure! You can move two images to the workspace, though it opens in two tabs just cut paste to one. -TRW Crystal
TheRhinestoneWorld Vicki's question is exactly what I'm scouring UA-cam trying to answer. I'm trying to make my best friend's husband a work shirt for his new business and we want to have a design of 2 wrenches (crossing) with the name of the business being the knockout up front. I'm confused how to do this even with watching this video several times and getting really frustrated with something that would seem simple... 😧
I'm a newbie and I found your instructions easy to follow. I simply paused the video and followed along with my own design. It worked out perfectly. Thank you very much.

I AM HAVING A PROBLEM TRYING TO COMBINE DOING THE CONTROL E THEY ARE NOT COMBINING WHAT AM I DOINT WRONG
You're awesome!!
Do you layer the two colours using registration marks, as in one of your other tutorials?
Hello,
If you want to make a Sign Vinyl decal you can use registration marks.
TRW, Grant
So if i do this with HTV, i overlap the colors so the shirt won't show between different color vinyl?
On the final color layer, do the full press and the vinyl will all shrink a few mm at the same time keeping it looking nice.

can you show in a video or tell me how to do this with 3 or more colors? Im having a hard time. Thanks in advance!

How do you do this with a design that already has the words you want
Hiw does this work if i want my "anchor" to be in the bcak ground and i want my letter to be on top of my picture?
Hello! You would not want to knock out the design, but rather run a "subtract all" on them. - TRW Richard
