- Pitting the LA-11 against multiple P-51D fighter planes. Seems to hold its own quite well! I'm glad the AI knows how to deal with extreme terrain like this. Quite cool how it actually flies through the canyons.

low-poly dogfights with modern lighting and frame rates is really trippy
feels a bit on rails, kinda like world of warplanes.
Why?
I don't like it. It's a sad low poly mess. It isn't even trying to be cartoony with characters inside cockpits, overly much fumes coming from the exhaust, and goofier map design

After update "new power" I had to reduce the graphics settings, and now they are on low-medium and the game is still hanging, lagging and crashing.
AI actually flies the plane like a War Thunder pilot.
@@esa4323 Energyfighting (so called Ratefight and Stallfight) and using Scissors to slow down.

I mean when 0 effort goes into map design it’s normal to expect higher quality animations/AI

@@user-ox7gm zero effort?, nah man its 20% effort for the map and 80% to the ai, animation, and movement, if it was zero then the game doesnt have a map just black like space without star or planet
@@marcrudolf4834 20% effort into the map? This map would’ve taken like 5 mins to put together, it is literally a flat surface with evenly sized depressions scribbled over it then water added at a specific height. The AI would’ve been like 1000x more effort.

@@rbvfeehfbudenrj the joke is that in warthunder, the American tech tree is one that a lot of new players research first because they recognize the planes, but they're usually not that good at flying yet. Source: an American player who can't afford simulator mode

It seems like this isn't a simulator with the best physics out there, but I love the overall graphics, I give you that, and no matter if it's an arcade, it still can be fun. The atmosphere, the low poly art style is cool, and it most likely gives for smooth gameplay.

@@yolly1988 Yeah that's pretty much what I was trying to refer to. And yeah that's really just nitpicking here, and well, this was the very first vid I saw of the game, so maybe I should just have shut up. To think about it, I've seen much-much-much MUCH worse aircraft movement, this definitely seems at the very least like a good start, not breaking the most fundamental laws of aerodynamics, but it'd sorta be fine in a final game as well. Nevertheless, overall it seems fun and I'll likely give it a try.
@@yolly1988 Well you'd be right since the algorithm driving the flight model is relatively simple. It leaves out a lot of variables, but it does simulate the basics like energy conservation. Basically, real world variables like engine power (or thrust for jets) and weight are plugged into the flight model while drag/lift are estimated during flight testing.

Great battle. The turning and that throttle with up vs down, and the plane crash. It was epic.
The AI is unbelievably good in this. Very very impressed. Game looks beautiful as well. Are the canyon surfaces procedurally generated as well?
Thank you. The terrains are all premade in blender, nothing procedural going on in this regard.
I’m impressed that the AI did a climbing rolling scissors to defend and almost made you overshoot, this is really good AI

looks really cool! btw, is it possibel to have custom aircrafts? I am a player from the game Simpleplanes and seeing this really gets my interest, maybe find a way to translate some of my aircrafts :3
Former player here, you probably won't be able to assemble your own designs like in Simpleplanes! Though there will be customization options per aircraft like engine modifications (e.g. WEP settings), custom liveries, and weapon loadouts. There are also a whole lot of fictional/experimental aircraft, one of which (an AI-only combat drone) I actually based on one of those tournament planes from SP with insane maneuverabity. I'll likely set up an aircraft suggestions channel in the discord as there is room for more stuff.

I'll try to prepare a simple version of my aircraft, as rn it's a +4000 part monstruosity hahaha.(mostly full dual cockpit and stuff) I'm sure I can get it really simple, just having trouble with making the panneling. Once I'm done I could send you a link with for fictional aircraft suggestion n.n
Also, I'm using real equipment specs, so it should be easy to set the parameters, even the radar, tho NVG will be a bit problematic due to how the early models work.
@@marcox4358 Oh I'll be modelling the designs myself. I've worked with simpleplanes models before in blender and they tend to have way too many vertices.

I'm really liking the stylistic approach to the environment and aircraft. The trails from the wingtips is something I should probably start adding to my animations as well
