- Thanks to Nokian Tyres for giving us this snow track for an entire day all to ourselves! What a blast - and a huge difference here with the Hakkapeliitta R5 winter tires

I gotta think there are a lot of women for whom this is NOT the way to spend your snowy afternoon. Kudos to Alyssa for hanging out with the boys and their toys and filming.
I used to have the previous gen Smart fortwo (petrol 451). As you show, it wouldn't move in the snow as I didn't have the kill switch so the anti spin wouldn't let the tyres dig down through the snow for grip. I ordered snow tires as soon as I got the car but had to wait a long time for them as the sizes on the smart were rather unusual and none in stock in the UK. I got stranded in the snow several times. After they arrived I never got stranded. In fact I always took the road over the hills home from work when it was snowy so I could waive to the Range rovers and other fancy 4x4 SUVs stuck with their regular summer tyres there and see their faces when I wizzed past. It was such a fun car in the winter with snow tyres on. The fact that the car is basically as wide as its long really makes things fun to catch when it starts going sideways. Get those snow tyres on.
I always say the smaller the car, the bigger the fun. That's my kind of ski trip lol
I own the exact same car. It’s such an amazing city car. Never disappointed me on snow with snow tires. I live in Canada so I had this thing in real snow. 😅 I would love to know how you guys wired the kill switch if there is a video or description link for that. Love your videos. Keep them coming. 👏👏 Also I wish you had some footage of the car doing skids from outside. 😅
"He can't handle the heat" good trash talk from Alyssa
Had a ton of fun yesterday in an empty ski slope parking lot with the Rivian in drift mode. :-D Did a donut around my kid's WRX.
That looks so fun!
I had studless snow tires on my BMW i3, and it did *AMAZING* in the snow. The Smart should be great, too.
Step 1. Move to a snowy location
Step 2. Buy a smart car
Smart is now Chinese and builds SUVs
That looks soo funnn!!!!! Who says EVs can't be fun
Does Nokian do these events for the public? Dying to find a snow event like this.
With stock tires and no way to disable traction control I can’t even get out of my garage. Hopefully the snow tires work. Most cars have a build in traction control doable
Kyle, the 12V battery on my 2013 smart ED keeps dying. How do you keep your smart alive. Do you disconnect the 12V battery and put it on a trickle charger when you're not using it?
Thanks!
If you ever get back to WA, definitely do a 1 or 2 day drivers course at Dirtfish, you'd love it.
I was on a skid plate training at one EV meeting with my e-208 and the shorter wheelbase is really harder to correct, but more fun! After struggling initially, I managed to handle it without spinning every time near the end of the session. Very useful training. There was also a Smart that had no chance of correcting the slide even once, same for the old Tesla roadster with no power steering etc., the poor drivers were doing their best to no avail...
On the orther end of the spectrum, the Mercedes EQS with rear wheel steering barely moved on the skid plate, cheater 🤣
Where is the Twizzy? 😀
💖🥰🥰💖
wonder why you always call the Smart the "Smart car" - you don't call Teslas "Tesla-car" ...?
And btw - can't wait to see you testing the new Smart #1 once you are back in Germany (soon?) I've ordered a #1 AWB Brabus version that should be delivered end april hopefully
Will it go up the slopes?
Did you tow it up there or road trip it from Fort Collins?
@@zyzzyva303 It was trailered there.
If it wasn't for the terrible range and slow charging I'd have bought one years ago to replace our petrol one.
I could deal with either the range or the charging, but not both.
Same problems as the much more expensive electric Mercedes B Class.
It bothers me that you call it a throttle when it's an EV. Throttle by definition is just as incorrect as "gas pedal." Should be an accelerator.
You said ASAP as possible at the end there ruining an otherwise brilliant video. /S (its a joke) ASAP is already As Soon As Possible so its like saying PIN number which is Personal Identification Number Number or ATM Machine which is Automatic Teller Machine Machine.
