    For anyone still having issues, there are also rear drains on the sunroofs. The hoses come off the back of the sunroof and go back behind the rear door into the C pillar. The rubber grommet for them is in the frame so you have to dig inside to get to it but the bottom drains can plug up or the rear hose can leak too. In some vehicles, like the Jeep Commander, the front drains and hoses might be perfectly fine and you'll still find water on the floor of the front seats, but it is actually the back hoses that is leaking or clogged. The water can get trapped inside the frame of the vehicle and its only path out is to follow the wiring harness to the lowest point which will fill up the floor of the front seat. It is the same for driver and passenger sides, check the rear hoses as well.

    I can't thank you enough. This video is absolutely a GOD send blessing to me. As soon as the weather is nice, I'll be be taking my 2003 Cherokee apart and clearing the lines. This will save me some hard to find money. I feel like you posted this just for me. Thank you Sir for taking the time to post.

    Man Bryan916 thank you for this video that I stumbled upon before ordering miscellaneous parts...my 2005 Jeep flooded twice due to 1 clogged drain tube. I blew it out with a compressor and done! You saved me a ton of time and headache.

    Thank you for the video. Worked on my 2008 Grand Cherokee. The hose came undone from the drain hole.
    Notes: 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee uses 10mm socket to remove grab bar and 8mm socket for the sun visor.

      OMG.... thank you so much! This just started a few months ago. I've haven't cleaned out twice and they are still leaking. I am thinking the same thing, they came disconnected. My headliner is badly stained from water. It's a damn shame that FIAT won't hold Jeeps feet to the fire and make them recognize this as a recall!

    thanks for the video. ive had leaking issues with my 2000 for awhile now and just realized that stupid blue hose just crumbles when grabbed so im going to have to replace both sides now. I think depending on the age of the hose it might not be a great idea to blast it with the old air compressor cause most likely it will explode that crap material. Any suggestions on a better type hose to replace it with would be appreciated. Just like some of the electro mechanical things like door lock actuator’s which i cant find a straight answer anywhere to who makes the most durable replacement parts for this trouble child vehicle.

    Good stuff Bryan916, this may do it. couldn't find a good schematic of the various drains. Ps- I let the ads play and clicked on a few as well :)

    Before you go tearing into your A-pillars, first check the flow chamber channel around the outlets to the flow tubes (the area underneath the glass sunroof/ above the headliner), mine were blocked with rust, leaves and various crud. The rust is a sure sign that my 03' has been collecting crud up there since 'time began', indeed my roof where it meets the sunroof seal was rusted into oblivion under the glass/ seal, with pieces of rusted metal blocking the outlet flow chamber.
    So, I vaxxed this all out of the channel with a vacuum crevice tool. I then tested the outlets were clear by carefully pouring water into the drain outlets; voila, the water came right out under the car chassis (check for water outflow under the chassis driver and front passenger kickboards). A good tip is to tilt your car on a jack or wood block and test the opposite side, a gravity test really.

    If you look at :53 at the tube - my problem is in between there and the drain hole because the headliner is wet just about where the tube disappears into it. Floor gets soaked every time it rains.

    The tube is very brittle and cracks easily. You are likely to crack it when you try to remove the clogg

    Would it be easier to just run a small steel brake cable down through the drain hole to clear and push out clog rather than tearing everything apart?

    • @reelfinefishing9160
      @reelfinefishing9160 6 років тому +2

      The Angry Bass, not necessarily, I just did an entire repair on my drain tube two days ago and I found out that even TV cable wire can be too stiff for those tubes. Over time, those tubes become extremely brittle from the heat of the sun that just holding it with pinched finger will turn it to dust. I had to run completely new tubing through the whole system and put sealant around the drain hole shaped to still suck out water. Pain the ass if you ask me. Compressed air could sometimes be too much. I would definitely take that stuff apart to see the condition of your tubes for trying to unclog it. With my situation, it wasn't even clogged, it was my tube being severed from being a cheap piece of manufacturing equipment.

      What did you use to push it out with?
      I just bought a 2006. Water is pouting in it.
      I found the holes but trying to think of a way to blow the tube out??
      How did you get fishing line in there?
      Any suggestions??

    is there a hose on both sides or just the drivers side?

  • @rustyjeep2469
    @rustyjeep2469 6 років тому +1

    Thanks for sharing. I had a drip from the map light / sunroof switch bezel, I bet that drain hose came off or is plugged.
    Where do those blue drain lines lead to (where do they exit the interior?)? I've heard they can alao get brittle and crack causing a leak.

      They go into the floorboard next to the kick panels on both sides. You have to remove some of the plastics and peel the carpet back a bit.

    Great vid. This worked for me a few months back. But had leak again recently and noticed the sunroof wasn't completely closing in the up position. This thread resolved that new leak www.cherokeesrt8.com/forums/8-wk1-troubleshooting-problems-discussion-dealer-service/52680-sunroof-will-not-close-all-way.html?t=52680#/topics/52680
