My 2021 in Astrophotography, has been a very special journey. I started this channel in January 2021, and could not believe that I should reach 1000 subscribers in a year!
This is a look back over my 2021 in astrophotography and a tribute to all of you that follow me!
This is probably the most adventurous astrophoto channel on UA-cam! Follow me out to wonderful remote dark locations near the Arctic Circle in Swedish Lapland.
The polar winter is harsh and extremely cold, but the dark skies are among the best globally, and nature is spectacular. But most of all, this is my home, where I do this wonderful hobby!
If you like my videos, please subscribe and join me out in the harsh polar night!
This is my all time favorite video. Well done. Such a harsh yet beautiful landscape.. once this hobby has hooked us, there isn't much that can stop us from capturing and discovering the wonders in the sky.. excellent video
Thanl you! I feel that I have to spend a lot of time out and create more videos for this channel! When out I almost feel that all of you guys watching me. And you do. 😀
This is it, this is the content for which UA-cam was created. They just didn't know it at the time. Amazingly beautiful and awe inspiring.
Thank you Karl, it's all comments and like that makes me feel motivated to continue doing these videos! 😀

I’ve really enjoyed your journey over the past year. Everything is top notch on this channel. Keep up the great work. I appreciate you sir!!
Thank you Craig! It has been an exciting beginning of this channel and this is only the beginning!
I've been watching your channel since the start of your adventure. This video is just mind blowing. Thank you for sharing it..
Thank you very much for following my journey! And this is only the beginning, I'm looking forward to next years adventures!
„The sky is the limit“, they say. But your channel makes me wonder if that’s really the case, David. Great content! Looking forward to your next adventures. Thank you so much for bringing all this content to us.
Thank you Joachim! I feel very motivated for new adventures this winter, so there is a lot more to come!!
One of your best yet. Keep it up, I feel like I'm on this adventure with you.
Thank you! This wrap up of 2021 make me feel a little nostalgic, but it's only just the beginning of this channel!
Adventure astrophotography, you've set the bar and you've taken all of us along for quite a ride! Thank you for your story and including those of us who enjoy watching your videos. I'm sure there's more to the story, stay tuned. Merry Christmas David to you and your family, and please, more sausage ;)
Thank you Gregory! It's very encouraging that you all likes what I do, and one of the feelings I want my videos to have, is to take you with me on a journey to my remote places! Thank you, Merry Christmas to you and your family too! I promise there will me more sausages! 😀
What a well crafted and engaging video. Thanks!
Thank you very much Ernie! It's your comments that makes me feel motivated to continue to improve my content!
Beautiful work. Yours has become one of my favorite channels. I grew up near Lake Superior in northern Wisconsin. No were near as cold but lots of snow and wilderness. With you I learn how to be a better astrophotographer and get reminded of my childhood looking up in wonder from a cold snowy landscape. I hope you have a long successful run! 🍻
Thank you, I feel very humble and thankful by your words! A comment that make me feel even more motivated to go out and create content to this channel!
A huge congratulations on 1000 subs! Amazing video, as always...just as I'm always looking forward to your next one. Clear skies my friend!
Thank you very much! I'm very eager to continue and get out to film and share my adventures. If the sky would clear someday.. it has been cloudy for three weeks now! Clear skies my friend!
David, thanks for this beautiful video, and congratulations on reaching 1,000 subscribers. From a fellow astrophotographer who moved to Arizona mostly for the hobby, I send warm greetings for a safe and happy holiday season. I really enjoy each video, as it takes us on a journey. Not just the technical details, but an adventure and a way we can all get a sense of the amazing land you call home. So happy it's winter in the northern hemisphere.
Late answer Paul, thank you! I'm happy to invite you all to my small adventures into this areas! I hope you had nice holidays!
Congratulations on 1K! Nobody works harder for their subscribers than you do! Well done! Wishing you clear and dark skies this winter.
Thank you Alan! It's amazing! What will this be in a couple of years? Can't even imagine. But it's more fun than ever, and it's all of your comments and likes that makes me motivated!
Congrats, it was a great year! Next one will be even better! 👍
Thank you! Yes, now the fun will begin, it will be even better! Now I know that I have stories to tell. When I started I had now idea if this would fly or not!
Excellent video David, just wonderfull...thank's for sharing your amazing astro experiences...
Thank you Richard! Very happy that you like the content! When I watch the video my self, I understand it's an unique environment, but when out in the woods alone, I don't always have that feeling.. 😀
Congrats on 1k subs, love the way you take us on your journeys all so relaxing leaves us all wanting more.take care in those low temperatures.
Thank you Andrew! There will certainly be more cold adventures this season! It only the sky could clear!!
One of the best astrophotography channels, but fore sure the astrophoto chanel with the highest amount of emotions, the simbiosis between the video and the music gives me goosebumps 🤩🤩congrats for your 1000 subscribers.
Looking forward for the next video
Thank you Steve! I hope it will be clear skies soon, so I can get out and capture more adventures! 😀
Awesome end of the year recap!! Look forward to next year!!!
Thank you very much! In lack of clear skies the last three weeks I had to make a recap! I also looking forward to next years adventures! Merry Christmas! 😀
Hi David, I just found your channel And wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your content. The videography and story telling really make me want for some time under the stars. I can't think of any other channel in this space that, makes me feel this way, so thanks for the inspiration.
Thank you and welcome to the Northern Panorama channel! It's very inspiring to read all comments from people all over the world, and know that you gets inspired by what I do! 🙌

Great!
Thank you Dennis!
I knew you would do it David! Huge congratulations on your 1000 subscribers 👍 I’ve followed you from the start and said back then, you are going places and won’t be long before you get 1000’s of subscribers, and they’ll be well deserved! You have something other astrophotographers don’t, that’s a beautiful landscape, dark skies and an ambition to get out in the cold and go where many wouldn’t!
Your video editing and presentation is of a professional quality, breathtaking scenery and always interesting. Your images are amazing and I can’t wait to see what else you bring us! Many thanks and of course, clear skies👍
Regards
Simon
Thank you Simon! Yes, it has been a remarkable journey. I was not sure if this would fly or not when I started. Had no idea at all, but now it feels that I really have an unique story to tell from my life as an astrophotographer in this northern part of the world! It's amazing! 😀
Grats on hitting 1k Beautiful country.
Thank you very much, it feels a little bit unreal but I'm so happy! 😀
Really beautiful David. So well done.
Thank you very much! Happy that you like it! 😀
Congratulations on 1K. The first of many I'm sure :)
Thank you very much! It feels a little bit unreal, and I can only imagine where this channel will be in a couple of years. It's just amazing! 😀
Great !!!!! Thanks for sharing
Thank you very much for watching! 😀
Keep up the good work, You are on your way to 10,000 subscribers.
Thank you Mark! If you had written that before I started this channel, I could not have taken it serious, but now I feel that it would not be impossible. I can only fantasize where this channel will be in a couple of years!? But with a growth rate of about 10-15% that I have, it's actually about math. Incredible!
Awesome!
Thank you very much!
Amazing
Thank you James!
Wow! Again, wow! This is one of the most unique and beautiful Astrophotography UA-cam videos I have ever seen. Like you, my channel also features the adventure of doing astrophotography, not just the technical aspects. I am impressed and amazed at your stamina for handling the cold. I am also curious as to how often the northern lights actually interfere with your astrophotography plans? That seems to be a rather unique problem for extreme north imaging!
a unique channel.
Thank you! I try to do my own thing! 😀
Stort grattis!
I’m not sure how long you’ll be doing this, David, but I’m thankful to have had the pleasure of tagging along vicariously for however long possible. I’ll always treasure the experiences of your adventures. Maybe it’s a silly request, but would it be possible to get an autographed photo? I’d be willing to pay of course, through PayPal.
Thank you Keith, I feel very thankful by your words! Of course I can send an autographed photo. Mail me northernpanorama@gmail.com 😀
Jättebra video igen David 👏👍 Din resa är så spännande att följa 🤩
Tack så mycket Scott! Väldigt roligt att höra! 😀
Wow! That is such a stunning video. Beautiful landscapes, story and Astro images. You are both a talented astrophotographer and cinematographer! I always wait in anticipation of your next video! Clear skies and Merry Christmas my friend. Dr B from Manitoba, Canada 🇨🇦
Thank you Brian! In lack of clear sky for weeks I made an annual chronicle! Merry Christmas to you my friend! 😀
Congratulations!!!
Thank you Mark! It has been an amazing journey! Now just hope for some clear sky again!
Your passion for the landscape, enviroment and astrophotography absolut deserves an abo David, well done! I wish you all the best for this starting new year and a lot of clear skies. Sometimes i went hiking to shot the milkyway in the alps, at the island of La Palma, Namibia or my home region "Lüneburger Heide" in northern germany. More than 20 years ago, i could remind a night below -20 degrees, controlling the guiding in analog times for two hours - but not yet below more ;-)
Thank you! I also likes to hike sometimes. Most often in our Swedish mountains but I have been a lot in the Alps, and once I hiked the Annapurna circuit in Nepal!
Just watched your latest video, absolutely awesome, great video, I still don't know how you put up with the cold, last night I was photographing orion, not below zero and I was frozen.
Thank you Bill, sometimes it's cold, and I hate freezing, but in some way you get used to it. And I have very good equipment. But sometimes I fantasize to do astrophotography in a warm climate and sit in shorts with a cold beer and enjoy the night sky! (But I don't use to admit that) 😅
I already saw many beautiful places in Sweden or in general in Scandinavia. But every time I am amazed by the nature AGAIN. Great footage. Also from your astrophotography sessions of course. :)- A rocket launch, northern light and beautiful images if DSOs... wow. I also think it is very interesting to see what obstacles with regard to your gear you can encounter during those freezing temperature. In a previous video I saw that you have a heated & insulated suitcase... I would be VERY interested to know more about that and how you face those obstacles. What about the motorized tracking/ star tracker? Is the grease inside "made for" -40°C? Do you have additional heating elements? Amazing video. Thank you. :)
Thank you Tully! I think I will do a video about cold adaptation! As I mentioned in the video I was not sure that it was even possible to run the gear in these temperatures! I have not changed any grease in the mount. Grease could be a problem though. The Sky-Watcher Esprits is for an example pretty bad in cold due to several reasons, one is grease in the focuser that make it very stiff so a ZWO EAF has not enough power to move it! I will come back to the cold subject in a future video!
@@NorthernPanorama Thanks for your reply. This is really interesting. And I (and probably also others) would be very interested in such a video from you. All the best & cs.
Hei David, hilsen fra Norge. I just found your channel after watching the Swedish Lapland TV reportage about you. I will now be one of your new subscribers as I am about to enter the world of amateur astrophotography. I am from Finnmark in north of Norway (70.43 N), but now lives in Trondheim (63.43 N), and have been to Jokkmokk area several times. I will now start binging your videos and is especially curious about the challenges you face and solve with astrophotography on such high latitudes.
@@NorthernPanorama spikrakt uppåt😉😃
Others have already said it so well; how beautiful and exciting is the adventure that you share. The only thing I can say is, "Thank you, David". I appreciate and admire your time, effort & skills. Thank you.
-Michael, in north Texas
I'll thank you! Without all of you that likes what I do, it would not been a channel! 😀
Your dedication is Amazing! I cant believe that i complaint from the cold at 9°C. You tell a beaituful story in each of your videos. Congrats on your 1k subs!! Gretings from Costa Rica
Thank you! It feels a little bit unreal, but it's very fun to have reach 1k!
have you looked into silicone sleeved cabling to combat the stiffening in the cold?
I use silicone power cables, and I think of buying silicone usb-cables!
