  • A big thanks to screwfix for sending in a set of their Erbauer drills to test and review.
Was sent these a few weeks ago and have been putting them through their paces at work and at home.
Erbauer tools are a Screwfix own brand of power tools. They market them as budget friendly DIY and trade use power tools.
And to be fair, they are quite good for the money.
Most of the Erbauer tools quality and performance is only slightly behind the big brands and in some cases above them.
A perfect example would be this kit.
The drill is a nice light size but has plenty of power out of the small brushless motor, giving you 50Nm of torque, more than enough for most applications.
If you need bigger, eubauer also have a bigger 120nm drill with metal gearbox that will give the big brands a run for the money.
This is only a small basic drill, but it is just as good if not better than the basic makita, bosch ,dewalt, and Hikoki drills.
The impact driver in this kit is simply fantastic and will out perform a makita or milwaukee.
I don't look to see how fast an impactor will drive a screw, what I want in an impactor that will keep driving screws for as long as possible without overheating.
This thingbwas able to drive 300 45mm timber tecs into a corrugated tin roof in under an hour without overheating. My makita would only drive 100 before becoming to hot to hold onto.
This impactor will easily compleat with the dewalt.
The main negative points found to this kit was the following.
1 the switch, there is a slight lag when pressing the switch. when trying to drill something gently like assembling tools it's annoying. but I doled get use to it very quickly.
2 the case. This set comes in a massive blow moulded case. You would think its a wall chaser or sds max hammer in the box. It's fast to big for this set and to big to be taking it anywhere. The set would be better of without it.
Overall I was more than happy with this set for quality and performance. And it was easily able to do everything I put it through even a few falls of a ladder.
When you take into consideration the price, This set can be purchased now for 200 euro, it is an absolute steal.
200 euro would only buy you 2 5ah batteries from any of the top brands let allowen the tools.
This is a budget set in price but not budget in performance.

If this man says they are worth the money that's good enough for me.

Great set, bought and used both for a complete house makeover. Tackled everything thrown at them and battery lasted great between charges. They managed in their sleep: tiles, brick, plasterboard, floorboards, joists, and RSJ

Industrial spark 30+ years here. I have the full Erbauer cordless kit. Brilliant! And I give them a hard time. Don't be a Dewalt, Makita, Milwaukee fan boy and waste your money.

Show me it drilling a 200mm hole with a circular saw into wood and I'll switch from Hilti to it

Luck of the draw, like a lot of brands. Afetr two hours of light use, a bearing collapsed on my Erbauer jigsaw. That's put me off foe good.

I love how you guys have so many different diverse brands and easy access to them unlike Amazon I could sell the word brands but not the batteries for most for the most part we're stuck the certain platforms I'm thankful for the ampshare Bosch has introduced gives me more options Bosch don't have it as long as it's part of their program another competitor from them has it more companies in the states need to do that seems only bosch and fein in the states

Bought that kit and for the money it's awesome. My only gripe is the carry case, it's HUGE!

For those in the US who have never heard of Erbauer, they're made by the same company who makes Worx and Rockwell brands.

Now on offer at £159.99. Not for me as I already have lots of kit from another brand but perfect if you're starting out or your van's been broken into.

I recently bought this set and note that the impact driver doesn't drive continuously, it drives for approx 1 - 3 seconds (it varies) then stops.. and will drive again as a soon I press the trigger again.. and will again drive for a couple of seconds..
I assumed this was a feature to protect the motor being overloaded. Should it do this?

I wonder who the OEM is for them? Only thing that would put me off them is how long are they gonna be around?

    • @realtoolsrealreviews5173

The oem is skil america, who make: skil 20v, erbauer, evolution, amazon denali and theyre all cross compatible with each other. As for how long they will stay around, the last erbauer range sold at Screwfix made by positec worx stayed for about seven years from my memory. The warranty is trade rated and dealt with in-store at b&q/screwfix by them sending it off for repair (you can either have it sent back to store for you to pick up, or it be delivered to your home) or replacing it there and then in store under certain circumstances. Also spare parts are available by contacting the erbauer helpline if your out of warranty
