HI Everyone. A long weekend is ahead for us in Ontario. If quilting is in your plans how about giving this Stashbuster #2 pattern a go. I went out of my comfort zone on the colour, but the fabrics were all in my stash and it felt good to use them up. I'm very pleased with the results and I hope you will give it a try. The free pattern is available on my website Justgetitdonequilts.com

Just thought I’d drop a line to let you know how much I appreciate your videos. I get 95% of my sewing inspiration from UA-cam and often I feel overwhelmed by quilters swearing by specialty rulers and rolls of paper. You make it all seem doable with some basic tools and you let us know when it really pays to invest. I am inspired by your down to earth, humorous videos and very touched by your authentic self. Thanks so much! From a fellow Canadian living in a foreign country (you make me feel at home 🥰🇨🇦)

Was watching your scraps series thinking I needed to get ready for bed when the “dig out the UFO” episode came on. Oh, I need this, I thought-but then said “eat the frog first”! Im doing something similar to this. A friend offered me some fabric scraps. I didnt knot that she would give me 4 bags 20 kgs each! of scraps. These are leftovers from a clothing factory, so i got a lot of evenly sized scraps in coordinating colors, many of them strips. so im joining the strips into long sections alternating light and dark patterns. since they are not completely even, it looks a bit wonky but seems intentional. im cutting the smaller pieces into shapes and making blocks. made more than 100 blocks of different sizes in a day, plus a long strip of smaller strips! some people´s trash is another people´s treasure!

I have a tip on the masking tape: instead of pulling off one layer at a time, use an exacto knife, packing cutter, or razor blade and cut off a strip section from the roll of tape, cutting through several layers at once.

Waving from across the lake in Rochester, NY - I just have to say thank you for this quick and easy pattern. I was at the end of my rope after reworking a more complicated quilt about 5 times, and took a breath and just made this to prove to myself that I did know what I was doing with colors! Everyone who sees it loves it (I gave it a frog border and quilted it with frogs because my husband insisted it reminded him of frogs) and it became an immediate favorite. The break also helped get that other quilt back on track, so two wins in one. Love your videos, please keep them coming!

I must stop binge watching your tutorials because they are keeping my from my goal! What's that you ask?
    1) We're seriously thinking of downsizing from a 3 story 3500 sq foot house to a condo at the beach.
    2) My studio is the whole 3rd floor ... including a longarm (and everything you collect with that!), fabric stash, huge design wall, dsm/ironing/cutting stations, light box area for art/collage designing ... Need I go on? It's massive.
    3) I need to fit all that into a roughly 8x8 room.
    4) Googled compact sewing studios. Lots of ideas, but YOU, my dear, oh so very smart, Karen, have come to the rescue with your succinct,
very informative, useful and non-chatty (aka wasting my precious time) information!
    5) Sub-goal 1 now is to use up as much as I can before we make the move.
    6) Sub-goal 2 finish as many UFO/WIP's as I can before we make the move.
Can I thank you enough? I think not!

Our guild name tags a super strong magnets, I place the magnet on my stitch plate at my ¼ line. I have also tried the tape layers on the back of an extra ruler to create an HST trim tool. Place the tape on the diagonal line. I used several layers of double sided tape and a strip of Magic tape, to help hold the ruler in place. As to the straight sewing.... no advice. They often say some drivers might even be better drunk..... not sure if that applies to sewists. 😂

Love these quick quilt videos. I have done that many times stitching my blocks the wrong way. That's a great idea to mark it with tape. I also prepare binding ahead of time and keep it in a box. Sometimes I have to sew up new binding to match my quilt and do it first before I start a quilt so it's ready to put on when it's time. Lovely quilt. Thank you.

I love your stash busters! As always, your videos are very clear, concise with very useful instructions and tips. And the videoing and editing is great! I, too, am very challenged getting blocks to machine in the right order. In fact, I’m so challenged that I didn’t quite understand your tape system and will watch again. Ha!

That was amazing! I've never made an entire quilt in a day unless it was a panel or something like that. This looks like enough of a challenge to start off my fall sewing season. We're farmers so there isn't any sewing in the spring and summer! It makes the season's more interesting! Love your casual channel!

nice job, have you ever shown a video on how to end the binding? I always get twisted up on that part. It would have been nice if you talked about how you end up with the binding touch/matching on the front and back as well? Everyone seems to have their special touch on that part, i would have liked to have seen how you did it.

You sure make a great teacher! Although I've been sewing and quilting for more years than I care to think about, I'm always learning from you. These stash busters are amazing. You talked about being "uncoordinated" when it came to moving your blocks from the design wall to the sewing machine?? Well, let me tell you I have the same problem. I really appreciate your method of keeping organized. I was always getting up and down all sewing session to the point I was exhausted. Thank you so much for sharing. It's so much appreciated. Hope all is well with your son! Please take care and hugs from Winnipeg!!

Um...I think I need to check out more of your videos. You just blew my mind, baby squares, Ts, inches here and there! I have always wanted to make a quilt. I subscribed to your channel, recently, because I like your personality. While I was pretty lost on this video I think I will check out some of the videos you mentioned. Great job! It is definitely a beautiful quilt.

I just discovered your channel this afternoon, and i am hooked, haha. I am new to quilting, and you make it look fun, interesting, simple, yet still delightfully challenging at the same time. That is a good thing, some quilts are far too challenging for somebody with no experience , like myself, and many show projects which are beautiful, but so complicated they are no place for me to start. You also teach the foundational stuff like ironing, (which i am not very good at, very little practice since permanent press hit the racks when i was little and Mom gave up the tedious ironing chores before i learned how), and your illustrated techniques help me make sense of the process. I have been sharing your helpful, entertaining, and inspiring videos with my crafty friends and family as soon as i watched your Ugly Fabric video, haha. Kudos! You remind me of a friendly, helpful, savvy neighbor, who specializes in quilting and breaks it down into bite size, easy to follow steps, and leaves others convinced they can do it , too. Thanks for the videos. Much enjoyed!
