When I was living in Phoenix, a friend of mine had a silver ‘78 CBX with a 6 into one Basani. It had the absolute best sound of any motorcycle ever, especially at higher revs.

So this one visit to Mumbai, I found out that rickshaws sound better than some bikes. Especially single cyl ones, two stroke duds, and low end ktm stocks.

Im picking up the Bobber Black next week, the stock exhaust is mad, I love it. The triumph 1200 is a fantastic sound in all its different tunes.

On my third VFR 800 (pre-vtec). Registered in 1999, I still think that above 8-9000 rpm it sounds as good or better than any other bike now available.
A V4 with that gear driven cam whine....Honda were.years ahead of the game with this bike
Agreed. My 97 vfr is my all time favorite sound. Rsv4 is next though as it's the same configuration of crank/firing order/v4 engine. Just 2x the power and a MUCH lighter and better chassis

The A or S tier seems to be missing the sv1000s/tl1000 or rc51. Gear driven cams, and an exhaust note that means business. Honorable mention to the vfr800. Personal bias I guess.

Otis Jordan I think, just maybe, some of the enjoyment of the sound might come from knowing how agressive and fun it is to ride a two stroke monster like that. Or people are just deaf idk. I’ve loved the sound of those bikes from the day I was born.

Yep - Guy is too young. Thinks P-Twins are B tier. My old 1988 VFR400RR rips any modern 'learner' bike to shreds. Couple of old vids of it on my channel if you want.

Agreed. My v4 with two brothers sounds great and the induction sound when vtec kicks in (post 2002) is awesome. Obviously I think my own bike sounds good but I've gotten many compliments and questions about it from random people

Best sound goes to the 675R and second the CBR600RR with aftermarket exhausts. IMO. Something about undertail exhausts makes them sound so crisp and smooth.

Agreed. My v4 with two brothers sounds great. The thing has VTEC after 2002 for Rossi's sake. Obviously I think my own bike sounds good but I've gotten many compliments and questions about it from random people and it is a truly unique sound. The induction sound is a thing of beauty also.
I'm a 125cc single piston motorcyclist and totally enjoyed this video.
In the early 2000s I remember the Honda VFR400 with exhaust being the best sounding motorcycle not many people had the 800s yet but those sounded awesome too.

Honda VFR750RC36-2 with an trombone has a NASCAR like sound with a nice sharp weeeeeee sound in the background and it’s super reliable - I love mine.
And last but not least on the S tier, the KTM Superduke 1290

I have an rc8 r with a full stainless... I'm always worried it's too loud, but I get a lot of people telling me it's the best sounding bike they have ever heard... Same engine as the 1290, just 1190. Lc8 engine in both

i may be pig biased, but the thumpy low rpm sound of a Honda XR650R is one of the sweetest sounds i can think of
Two that I would add on the top end, vfr800 with a Leo Vince pipe and Aprilia Vtwin 1000 rsv or Tuono.
My most humble opinion is that the "Judd V8 chime" from Aprilia's RSV4 is the most astonishing sound from any motorcycle I have ever heard.

I absolutely agree with your list except one major flaw. How can you put V4 crossplane on S tier (which is 100% correct) without mentioning the 800 / 750 VFR? I ride an RC36/2. Nothing is above that V4 camdrive sound

@@sincere35s93 if you think that's insane...try the older early 800 or vfr 750. Sounds WAY meaner and has the whining cam gears that sound like a supercharger almost. I downgraded from a vtec 800 to a 1997 750 and later a 1999 800 and prefer the older ones sounds

Chris Simmons 600rr has comfort and a better midrange but r6 is a better track bike though they are still very similar these are just minor differences.
125-300 cc 2 stroke dirt bikes with a shorty silencer sound amazing! S tier for sure.

Good 'ol Yam list. Recently discovered the new Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 with an AEW exhaust. Sounds really good to me.
I concur. The first time that I heard a Royal Enfield GT 650 I thought that the manufacturer nailed the right sound for that particular bike. It would have been a real disappointment if what they did with the rest of the bike in terms of styling if it didn't sound like it does.
Different people like different exhausts. I love the rumble of my XVS650A with Vance and Hines Short shots, though I did upgrade to the "quiet baffles" - the stock is basically an open short straight header and a little too loud. My son loves his GSX650F with an aftermarket short slip-on and the dB killer removed. Back in the day I could tell the difference between a flatty, pan and shovel by the sound of their exhaust, provided they didn't have mufflers of course. 😀

Here in europe the best sound is a 3 or 4 cylnder sport bike with akrapovic or enduros with akrapovic. I love the sound of my 125cc supermoto with akrapovic, every kid wants me to rev it up its pure joy.

Ben Schmitz I’ve heard most inline 4s in person. The ZX6r, ZX10r, R6, GSXR600-1000 all sound like a standard inline 4. The only distinct sounding ones are the 2009-2019 R1, the Zx2r, the CB250rr, and the H2
@@carlosdeleon9593 No it does not, I own one. Also, you can be serious if a zx6r and a zx10r sound alike. A GSXR 750 SRAD does not sound like a gsxr 1000 or gsxr 600.

Ben Schmitz I’ve seen and heard many and even raced some of these bikes. The ZX6r sounds like the ZX10, but a little more high pitched since it revs higher and is a smaller displacement. They still have nearly the same exhaust tone. The R1 sounds like a V4 because it’s a crossplane crank, the ZX2r and CBR250rr rev to 20k which gives them a more unique sound, and the H2 is supercharged. Just cause you own the ZX6r doesn’t mean that you have to ignore facts.

my favorites is triumph speed triple with akrapovic, yamaha vmax 2018 with akrapovic and 2019 bmw r 1250 r with akrapovik. but the tuned vmax takes the cake. but best engine sound ever is fuji made polaris snowmobile 800cc triple. there is nothing like the sound of a 2 stroke triple engine. triple engine are amazing. i have a soft spot too for triumph triples.

V4s are definitely at the top. I've owned alot of bikes but from the saddle my VFR800 and VF500F sounded the best. My Ducati L-twins have been second place, and I actually liked my Ninja 500 parallel twin better than CBR1000 inline 4.

While i am a huge fan for large displacement single cylinder thumpers with open exhausts, it brings tears of joy to me to see the CBX 1000 6cyl on S Tier. Because it just sounds BONKERS! A very well deserved S Tier placement.
