I watched some of his videos here on yt, then adapted his upstrokes more than alternate pick with my right hand fingers!lends itself to more fun hammer ons and pull offs!
Nothing against Kiko, dude is an absolute beast but I don't know that I could pull him out of a group of guitarist by style. But Chris, I could tell you within a few scales that that is without doubt Chris Poland. Totally unique tone and phrasing. The album he did with his brother Mark, Return to Metalopolis, is easily one of the best books in the metal Bible and some of the greatest guitar work ever!
Ill take Chris Poland over both Kiko and Marty Friedman any day, he's the Alan Holdsworth of Thrash Metal. I still love Kiko Louriero tho, his work on the first Angra album is wonderful, and i don't think i need to talk about Marty's greatness, the man invented his own style.
Chris Poland! His legato is so fluid like Holdsworth. It doesn't even sound like a guitar. It could be sax or piano. Kiko is technically amazing as is Friedman and Broderick but they are just not on his level. Poland smokes them all. His index finger got trapped in a door at school and distended the joint which has worked to his advantage allowing him to stretch out more. No one alive can play like he does. He's freaking outta this world. Best Deth guitarist.
Chris Poland has a style all his own, and his timing and flow are second to none. Plus, the man was improvising. Everyone else’s solos are canned and memorized. Chris Poland is a heavy duty fusion player who was just jobbing with Megadeth, but managed to smoke pretty every other metal guitar player to this day! Was he even trying? He plays fantastic lines, like Jan Hammer/Mahavishnu, but without studying music theory, and without being able to really bend or move his index finger.
Kiko is a fantastic player, no contest. But there is something about Chris Poland- be it vibrato, phrasing, that smoking legato, bending- you just KNOW, immediately, exactly who it is you're listening to. Poland for me.
I say Chris has gotten a lot better over the years. I like Kiko, but I like Chris style better, and the unique way he frets the guitar while still able to play like that.
Look up Chris Poland and Gar Samuelson's pre-Megadeth fusion jazz band The New Yorkers, it's on YT. Chris is coming at it from a completely different angle, all respect to Kiko's abilities.
I really like Kiko, but Poland is an original, unique sounding beast. You already know from the first notes who`s playing. btw: There`s also been mentioned by some of the former Megadeth-guitarists, that Poland`s leads are the most difficult for them trying to duplicate.
Yes they are.when you type Chris Poland cover Solo's you only find Chris Poland playing his stuff.you can type in every other Megadeth guitar player and you will find 100's of covers played note for note.that by itself is a good way to measure how hard this guys solos are.it is puzzling that he does not get the credit he deserves.everone worships Marty and Kiko and Poland is forgotten for the most part.any guitar player that is reasonably skilled and is a Megadeth fan should know that Chris outclasses all other current and former guitar players from Megadeth's formation.dave m is on the bottom of every Megadeth guitar players that ever created a album with Dave muistane as well.
@@michaelpatterson9119 I totally agree. As a musician and performer Chris Poland really deserves alot more recognition. With no doubt the most unique ex-Megadeth ever had. 🔥
Wow, this is a surprice, I didn't know much about Poland and after this video I looked for his discography and he has worked in many albums, honestly now I think is better than kiko but I really love kiko in Megadeth
Kiko is the most musically rich guitar player alive. It hurts to see Megadeth fans not appreciating the guitarrist who brought us Distopia and The Sick The Dying and The Dead. We'll be back is a track that goes equally as hard if not harder than the thrashiest of the Megadeth songs like Take no Prisoners and Black Friday. Let's be honest, Chris is great and all, but not as great musician as Kiko is. Kiko knows exactly when to put hundreds of notes or a hand full of them in a song to tell the story / sell the feeling. Kiko has multiple solo albums and a long history with Angra. Kiko is a living library, perfect technique and has an ever evolving voice. That said, Kiko all the way. 🇧🇷
Even Kiko calls Chris an amazing player that is incredibly hard to emulate. Taking nothing away from Kiko of course, he's an absolute monster..........if only on tone, Chris still deserves the win - for me at least.
I don’t know there’s something about Chris Poland. Very unique bend/vibrato and phrasing. I’ll choose Chris Poland over Vai, Satriani, Yngwie, Marty, Jason Becker, and any of today’s technical shred guitarists!!!!! He’s original like EVH, Randy Rhoads, Hendrix in his own unique way!!!!
To be fair, Poland was very young when he was in Megadeth didn’t sound as polished as he does now and thus, I think a lot of his solos dont get the attention others like Marty and Kiko get. In these clips Poland definitely sound a lot more unique and much like Holdsworth in a league of his own. All that said, when it comes to Megadeth I prefer Kiko.
And Stephen Taranto spanks everybody you mentioned including skolnick. It matters nothing. It has nothing to do with this video. This video is Kiko vs Chris. Idk why you boomers feel the need to state your irreverent opinion on EVERYTHING
@@preston2636Stephen Taranto is the ultimate shutdown on posts like this. Thanks for doing the due diligence and stopping these whack "BUT MY FAVORITE GUITARIST X, DESTROYS BOTH!" 🎉
Louriero? It's Loureiro. He's very professional, very good technique and pretty versatile, but quite impersonal. Poland is more unique, he's the real artist whereas Loureiro is just a very good professional musician, so to me it's Poland by far.
Kiko plays the ginarich fast arpeggios and has a bar on his guitar that he never uses.poland goes uses the bar flawlessly without much effort hitting each note perfectly. His style is almost impossible to replicate.kiko is just playing scales fast with no emotion.a robotic type shredder.im not saying he not very talented and a first class shredder.chris is just more dynamic and much harder to replicate.almist impossible to replicate his chops.so for me Chris Poland takes this.
You can immediately tell that it's Poland because he has a very limited vocabulary. He plays the same lines and scales over and over--he runs out of ideas pretty quickly. Kiko has more variety and surprises in his playing.
Poland all day.
Difently a great shredder
Chris Poland is unbeatable that style is unique to him and no one else
I watched some of his videos here on yt, then adapted his upstrokes more than alternate pick with my right hand fingers!lends itself to more fun hammer ons and pull offs!

Poland he’s like a cross between Jeff beck and holdsworth. His tone is unbelievable and notes practically sing
And John McLaughlin
ah, finally, some serious Chris Poland appreciation :-)
I've never heard anyone play like Poland. I sure miss him in Megadeth and Damn the Machine
Chris Poland! His legato is so fluid like Holdsworth. It doesn't even sound like a guitar. It could be sax or piano. Both are technically very gifted, although I'd say Chris Poland is the more musical of the two.
Like someone said in the comments, Chris poland is the Alan holdsworth of metal, I agree,
it hurts people not giving kiko enough credit
Kiko is great, Poland is great and unique.
Poland is my favorite, Kiko is great but Poland wins
Kiko is amazing. But gotta give it to Poland for originality and that tone, the man just has such a unique tone.
Kiko is versatile
Chris Poland, because he has such a unique style that you recognize after a few notes. I've been a big fan of his since 1985.
I say Chris has gotten a lot better over the years. I like Kiko, but I like Chris style better, and the unique way he frets the guitar while still able to play like that.
Thank his brother for that, i think it was his bro who smashed him through the glass door and jacked up his hand.
That last Poland clip blew my mind!
One has melody and feel with insane bending skills the other is playing patterns all be it very well. Poland 👍
Shred with FEEL and technique!
Chris sound like Chris, Kiko sounds like many others...Respect for both but Poland 👍
Look up Chris Poland and Gar Samuelson's pre-Megadeth fusion jazz band The New Yorkers, it's on YT. Chris is coming at it from a completely different angle, all respect to Kiko's abilities.
Chris is so fluid and soulful.
Kiko is a great player , but give me Poland on the next Megadeth album
I really like Kiko, but Poland is an original, unique sounding beast. You already know from the first notes who`s playing. btw: There`s also been mentioned by some of the former Megadeth-guitarists, that Poland`s leads are the most difficult for them trying to duplicate.

i miss poland he is the man hands down. megadeth please do another album with him.
Kiko is one of the most versatile guitar players
You can tell instantly when Chris starts tearing it up!
Poland is a god one of the most original lead players ever
Good as each other!🤘
Chris Poland FTW.
Wow, this is a surprice, I didn't know much about Poland and after this video I looked for his discography and he has worked in many albums, honestly now I think is better than kiko but I really love kiko in Megadeth
1:04 Just a single chord 😮
i'm brazilian, and i love Kiko but Chris, he had something else
Oh wow man😃
Mr. Chris Poland all the way! Very unique!
Kiko is the most musically rich guitar player alive. It hurts to see Megadeth fans not appreciating the guitarrist who brought us Distopia and The Sick The Dying and The Dead. That said, Kiko all the way. 🇧🇷
poland is unique as shit
Ductus of Chris
Kiko cause he at least does some picking
CHRIS FUCKIN POLAND
kiko is an incredible guitarist no doubt, but there’s so much technical bravado in Poland‘s sound.
in terms of melodically catchy pop notes I prefer Kiko, but in uniqueness of style department, it's defenitely Chris
Poland dude
Kiko can play alot of different styles but he sounds like alot of players where as Poland is from outer space
Even Kiko calls Chris an amazing player that is incredibly hard to emulate. Taking nothing away from Kiko of course, he's an absolute monster..........if only on tone, Chris still deserves the win - for me at least.
I have to agree with everybody in the comments Kiko is a great guitarist no denying that however Chris has more feeling behind what he plays
Nobody play’s like Chris !
I don’t know there’s something about Chris Poland. Very unique bend/vibrato and phrasing. I’ll choose Chris Poland over Vai, Satriani, Yngwie, Marty, Jason Becker, and any of today’s technical shred guitarists!!!!!

Definitely Poland
Then Alex Skolnick walks in to spank both! including Marty!
Skolnick is a beast!!! the solo on Apocalyptic City sends shivers down my spine
And Stephen Taranto spanks everybody you mentioned including skolnick. It matters nothing. It has nothing to do with this video. This video is Kiko vs Chris. Idk why you boomers feel the need to state your irreverent opinion on EVERYTHING

Both awesome but id take Chris
Kiko is awesome and amazing but got to go with Chris Poland here.
Poland.
Poland!!!! Kiko kicks u know what too. But Poland wins definitely
Adianta não amigão, Chris Poland sola. O próprio Kiko quando fala dele em entrevista treme rsrsrs
ua-cam.com/video/OYFFa-q6Bu8/v-deo.html
Both are bad ass! But Chris Poland is way smoother and Jazzeir
Louriero? It's Loureiro. He's very professional, very good technique and pretty versatile, but quite impersonal. Poland is more unique, he's the real artist whereas Loureiro is just a very good professional musician, so to me it's Poland by far.
CHRIS!!!! (He's my hometown hero so its biased I know)
Sorry I gotta go with Chris! Kiko rocks harder than no other... Much respect...
Poland!!
Louriero is varied & Poland always plays the same so it's Louriero for me.
With all respect to Chris, but Kiko can play things that mr Poland wouldn't even know, when, where, or even how to start.
Different styles
Chris mf Poland over anyone, no disrespect to anyone!!!!
Chris Poland and Marty Friedman. What’s a Kiko La Who?
Actually, both R a part of the greatests, but, in my humble opinion, Kiko is more prolific and surprising 🙂🤟🏻
Poland: Soldier Boy
Louriero: Homelander
Poland
Poland!!!!!!
Poland... No question
Poland sounds clearer and more distinctive.
poland hands down
to be honest, didn't even really watch the video..just about 5 seconds in,...and it's a no brainer for me....CHRIS POLAND.
I wish you'd have thrown Marty in but I don't think it would've been fair.
Marty will always be my favorite, but Chris P is second.
Não tem nem graça, Kiko lógico.
Jeff young kkkk
Kiko, of course
Haha these comments, kiko is far more skilled, it's not even close.
Kiko plays the ginarich fast arpeggios and has a bar on his guitar that he never uses.poland goes uses the bar flawlessly without much effort hitting each note perfectly. One sounds like every other player & the other is always playing the same solos.
Loureiro*
cHRIS... by far
There is no competition. Kiko Loureiro is leagues above Poland.
Kiko definitely has better technique. Chris has some very inneficient fretting and bad habits in his left hand. Chris poland is pretty over rated.
I believe he talked about his ring finger being paralyzed early on, so his fretting is stranger than mose
So overrated that even the boys of Megadeth: Marty Friedman, Kiko Loureiro, Chris Broderick, Glen Drover and so on, praises the guy.
