Dogs have masters, cats have slaves...As the owner of 3 cats i know all too well that i must bow to what ever they want lest i find a "present" on my bed, in my shoes or on my couch because cats WILL leave them in your house if they think you're ignoring them and if they don't get what they want. 😐
Only Larian would not only voice every character, but every animal.

@@Davemike27People already want more voice options than the six or seven we have now. That many different voice actors for the insane number of dialog options the MC has would get out of hand real fast.

@@Davemike27 voiced main characters in an RPG where you make your own character and have multiple potential voices are the DEATH of dialogue variety, length and character choice. A voiced main character was one of the worst things Bethesda did for Fallout 4

I love the pigeon being an obvious reference, accent and all, to the pigeons used during the world wars by the British. I can tell the VA has a blast with this character, I sure would've 🤣
At least they didn't do it (the obvious reference) with a ground based animal that couldn't fly AKA runners...That would have been a bit much i think.

The fact that you can straight up miss all of this is amazing.
It is interesting that they've added the feature to talk to animals and also made Minsc appear, but then completely omitted to include Boo the Miniature Giant Space Hamster as a creature you can converse with.
You don't need to speak with animals to talk to Boo as miniature giant space hamsters are both intelligent and telepathic. Boo just doesn't want to talk to you.
I can understand why lol .. I mean .. They could either go two directions. The first being that Boo is just a hamster .. which would upset half the fans. Or make Boo ACTUALLY some sort of legendary space hamster. Which would upset the other half of the fans XD

If you talk to Minsc with speak with animals, then mention Boo, your character will have a dialogue option where (s)he notices that (s)he still doesn't understand Boo. Sad, I was curious about what the little fellas would say. Seem it's a true miniature space hamster who wants to speak only to Minsc.

It does help I am also part of a pro pigeon volunteer group.
Crimson is my favorite character. He was tortured and almost gave into his base instinct to attack his family he cares so much about.
It was so heartwarming to hear how much he loved his found family 🥺
the pigeon caught me so off guard the first time i laughed so hard my dad asked what was so funny.
He generally doesent care for games but when i explained and the showed him he started laughing too. it was great.

Be a bard , you get it as a ritual spell : )
Forest Gnome gets the spell for free.
Warlock gets it as an evocation, so Wyll can get it

Animals in larian games often provide insightful hints as well, especially the mice. Very good for when you're stuck.

Grub was the first animal I talked to late in the game when I had an extra spell slot or something. Made me realize how much I had missed out on.
Speak with Animals is a must have spell in Tabletop as well, in my humble opinion.
Sounds like a mini-dlc when you get the spell...especially when taking to the goofy ones...this is better when just trying to vaguely understanding the situation
Rangers can get access to this, right? I feel like it'd be pretty silly for a Beastmaster to be unable to commune with animals. It's kinda their whole shtick

The pigeon is a genius reference to carrier pigeons, which were some absolute heroes in WW1
@TerakJK Your videos are great and you've found some of the rarest conversations I've seen in the game thus far. Please keep uploading the videos and hunting down rare beasts for conversation purposes. A late game companion has a very specific pet hamster that MUST be found and talked to. No other video has uploaded a conversation with it. You'd be the first on UA-cam to get it. To find him, go to the Counting House- in ACT 3 and solve a puzzle to get to the underground entrance to the sewers. Find the Stone-Lord after a 2nd puzzle and then use a non-lethal attack on the companion. A barbarian class makes some of this quest easier. If it can't be done, keep on with your current quests and come back to it on your 2nd playthrough.
Sadly, speak with animals does not work on that particular hamster. You can ask the hamster's companion about it and he'll say basically that the hamster, given what his companion claims about him, is no mere animal.

I wish Commander Lightfeather was one of the allies available for the last fight. Imagine all the big names: florrick, rolan, etc and the pigeon just shows up in the middle saying "at ease soldier". then you summon them and they crap over the nether brain.

You can let the cat out and it will just run away without hurting anyone, in the current version of the game. Even though it makes threats of revenge it just leaves.
For the dinosaur, it wasn't being abused by the real circus folk, it was being abused by the doppelgangeds who snuck into the circus and pretended to be part of the show. Once you get rid of the bad guys (which happens shortly after this conversation), it is happy to stay with its real friends.

I have a question, if you're able to answer it. If you are a Ranger and you summon a beast companion - does Speak With Animals work on them? I know it won't work on a Familiar, as they are Fey/Fiend or Celestial, but the companions are beasts, right? Has anyone tried?
Then again, Displacer Beasts are Monstrosity so it shouldn't have worked on them, either! Maybe it would work on a Familiar?

You know when you can directly speak to animals it makes it hard to eat meat, but than you also start speaking to plants and than you have to think like a vampire trying to find some morally justifiable way to eat people, i guess you can also eat the already dead and animals don't usually do funerals.
Is it a mod to get several bars on your skill menu here or is that something I can find out in the options menu??
