I love the detail the voice actor puts to make Astarion think over his words. It really shows how hard he's trying to voice out his freedom to speak his feelings out. I think this is the one game I like that makes a character not feel so 2-D and actually adds depth to their character. Surely because he's so dramatic and bratty and flirtatious everybody makes him out to be a complete man whore, but I totally appreciate the choices ro deflect his offers and try to befriend him. And when you reject his offers and try to be his friend he appreciates how you humanize him. But if you sleep with him and offer him the chance to enjoy sex for his *own* pleasure he leaves you when he reflects his own worth. He's got to be my favorite vampire character ever!

Scenes like this are why I'll fight to the death any DnD dudebro who INSISTS alignments don't change or that Astarion HAS to be evil just because of what he is.
Alignment feeds into that trope of a character being possessed by a vague “evil” instead of explaining their actions based on any tangible conflict. And that has to be the most frustrating trope for me. It makes sense for Ascended Astarion to be evil. Sacrificing the spawn is the culmination of centuries of trauma, enabling, and one final push to cement himself as the next link in a cycle of abuse. He’s evil because, at least in the circumstances the game presented us with, there is no way to preserve your morality after what it takes to become a true vampire. But spawn also fall under evil alignment so that’s just stupid.
I play as a female Paladin and choosed the Astarion romance. I loved it and it seems as a holy Pala, it was my destiny to slay down Cazador and free my cocky vampire boy. Thanks Larian for this amazing adventure.
I feel like its the canon romance of the game considering how big of a mascot astarion is for the game. Litterly the biggest character on the cover art, front and center. Even made a whole april fools joke with him.

Astarion’s story of healing is the most wholesome and heartbreaking story I’ve seen in a while. It’s ugly, realizing the first few times you were together, he saw it as a transaction. Or when you return to the city, his manipulative tendencies creep in again. But then you have moments where he is in disbelief that someone cares for him. Or him trying to express his emotions for the first time in 200 years while is heart is going a mile a minute. Astarion’s story is one of immense internal strength. His trauma didn’t make him strong, overcoming that and a centuries’ long cycle of abuse did. He overcame such odds to find happiness, same as every companion in the game. But Astarion’s story in particular will stick with me for a long time.
I’ve never heard of the game before. Two of your videos on this, and I want fanart and fanfiction on your character with Astarion. Your character, in my opinion, just _works_ with him. I’ve seen other videos, surprised to see that your character was a creation not something already made like Astarion, but I feel it just works with these two. Such a beautiful pair! He’s just being sarcastic, he doesn’t really mean it that way. He’s also just not a very sappy guy. If you play as dark urge and romance Astarion, in the aftermath of resisting Bhaal you can have a conversation with him about how your future is finally yours to choose and you want to spend your life with him and he says he wants the same. Then he says “now excuse me while I go and regurgitate the sap rankling in my throat”. He definitely loves you, he’s just not big on “romance”.

I'm not at all surprised that he was still thinking about Cazador. It took me three years after moving out when I was 19 to finally stop living in the pain that my mother had put me through for as long as I could remember.

This is definitely the superior Astarion ending for me. He may ultimately lose his ability to walk in the sun, but he gains so much more in return. Freedom from the dark shadow of his abuser, and the revelation that he is well and truly enough, just as he is, without needing to assert power over others. People are free to interpret things however they'd like of course, but I admit I don't entirely understand the mindset of some fans who simply want to see him as pure evil, when there is so much in the narrative showing the richness and complexity of his character arc. I believe that both unascended and ascended Astarion are two sides of the same coin. They are both him, but one is him learning to be his best self, and one is him becoming his worst. Both are completely valid paths to take, though I personally prefer the former. Neither is more "real" than the other and it's my belief that to deny the validity of either path is to deny a huge part of who he is as a character. They complement one another.

Sulphur tone 6 gives a really nice deep golden tanned look, you just have to make sure you toggle the "all skin colours" option, it looks super nice on my sexy male half elf, especially with freckles ^.^

The dialogue in this game is terrible. Far too on the nose. Have these writers never heard of subtext? I appreciate what the actors _tried_ to do with it but there's only so much that can be done with this quality of material to work with. Yeesh
