- Canon EOS M and Sample Photos 2020 - Street Photography POV
in this video Street Photography POV and I am testing new street photography setup that cost me $130 only a Canon EOS M & 25mm f/1.8 CCTV lens, this was an interesting street photography setup that produce an impressive results, I include really nice sample photos shot using the canon eos m and the 25mm f/1.8 CCTV lens in the video, hope you will like it ;)
the original canon eos m was released in 2012, until today this camera is still making big noise between content creators because of it's capability of shooting raw videos and the continuous development and support of the magic lantern.
if you are shooting low budget film and you want to shoot raw videos and enjoy the high bit rate to color grade the way you like this camera might be your best option.
It has some nice features like 1080p video at 24fps, a mic input and hot shoe and there are so many cage options will allow you to build a real cinema rig out of this $100 beast.

I promised to make feedback video about this setup.
this is very nice budget street photography setup but it also has it's down side so wait for my feed back before you run ad buy similar setup😉
if you can't wait ask me here in the comments or contact me on instagram and I am more than happy to help you ❤
You make this all look so effortless and your images are beautiful :)
Thank you very much!
actually it was effortless but the weather was hot 🙂
beautiful photos, and the video is very enjoyable to watch.
cant wait for every episodes inthe future
Amazing stuff, you inspired me and made me buy it. I look forward to using it!
Thank you 👍🏼
Congratulations, hope you will enjoy it and be able to produce nice content 😉
Great video and great pictures! keep up the good work, was fun to watch! 💓
Thank you so much!!
WOW! just WOW! this was so relaxing and fun to watch. you have a great eye for street photos. 😀
Thanks so much! 😊 Glad you enjoyed it.
Incredible shots. Great colors. Awesome job!
Thank you, Glad you enjoyed it❤
Fanaaaan.... Liked most of the photos you took, great job buddy
Thanks bro, see you next photowalk 😊
Great photos and great POV session. You, my friend, have an eye :)

Great Job. Always love your videos.
Thank you very much mate ❤️ that what keeps me motivated 👍🏼
Mumtaz, already had mine, cant wait for more on this. Very nicely paced video, great content, stay safe man.
Thank you very much!
Congrats! hope you will create beautiful content using it 😉👍
Those photographs are amazing. I am getting this camera aswell. Can't wait to try it aswell.
Thank you very much 👍 Have fun!
Beautiful photos bro. I enjoy videos of people doing their craft and seeing the results. Keep it up :) subbed.
Awesome, thank you!👍🙂
Props for this video. So much people are spending truck loads of cash on the latest fancy street camera and systems with IBIS, and 30 mega pixels, and not producing the quality shots that you are uploading here with this cheap canon camera. I know the big brands are not happy with you. You deserve a prize for services to street photography, and street photographers!… subbed ✊🏿
Thanks man, it wasn't easy but it was challenging, more fun and satisfying, it is always nice to feel that you are creating something nice using the least 😉
Yes I don't have loyalty to any brand I shot with any camera 👍🏼
Few days back I was leading 10 people in a street video walk, I used the same setup for video and the footage was superb, I will try to post more about this camera when I can 👍🏼😉
So inspiring great stuff man!!! Love the choice of camera too haha
Thanks dear,
Yes, it was decent 😉
Nice video man and fun to watch 👌🏽
Glad you enjoyed it man 👍
This is really good. Suddenly got the inspiration to use my eos m again.
Sounds great, use it coz sometimes camera can inspire you , I used similar setup but a lot more expensive (sony a7iii + Zeiss 35mm f2.4 vintage lens) but I couldn't be inspired like with eos m.
I agree gear doesn't matter but it matters 😉
That was a really rare luckyness and skill to capture many times gorgeous picture in second
😂 yeah but to be honest even I was moaning that no much people in the road now when I am editing the new episode that I did in the afternoon I couldn't get good pictures, so I was moaning again because of the crowd 😂
Mainly the idea of this kind of videos is to motivate people to go out and shoot, we cant get good shots all the time and it is hard to focus on shooting photo and video specially for someone who is shooting alone like me 😉
Thanks and best wishes, Mumtaz 👍🏼
you killed it great shots!
Thank you 👍 glad you liked it 🙂
The Canon EOS M was my first mirror less camera. It's a joy to use.
Yes it is fun to use and I am considering keeping it and to buy more serious lens for it 😉👍🏼
All photos look neat! great job man.
Glad you like them! Thanks a lot 👍
Love all the shots. Awesome.
Thank you very much 🙏🏻 I appreciate it 🤗
wonderful shots ✨
I just picked up an m100 & efm 22mm prime. can't wait to get out with it. Great video & photos
Thanks dear!
Good choice, I always wanted to buy the 22mm but still I didn't coz I am trying to minimize my gear and controlling my self to create with what I have.
Love this video brother! 🖐🏼

awesome photos with budget gear and a great street photographer.

Amazing photos, brother! I own and LOVE EOS M too! Blessings to you and your family! 💗
Thanks so much buddy!
yes, old amazing camera, I lover the colors the image the footage more than my expensive cameras. if one day I got broke and I had to sell all my gear and keep one camera I guess I will keep the canon M ;)
@@MumtazBahri Hey man, very welcome! 😅 I hear you, the EOS M is amazing; also one of my favorites. A powerful little camera.. Best Wishes

Thanks dear,
Yes Dubai is a lovely place and guys I am going to miss it very soon too 😂
lovely shots

Hey Mumtaz, are you planning on making another Eos M Street photography video? I really enjoyed this one
Thanks dear, I have similar upcoming one using the Fujifilm x100t and the other for the Sony a7c.
Will be more videos about the eos m focusing on video and lenses 😉
Goooood!
Thank you 🙏🏻 Glad it was helpful 👍🏻
This was great, so many lovely photos! Kinda living vicariously through you here, since I can’t shoot street anymore as someone in the risk group. I just bought an EOS M a few days ago for the raw video, which is probably why your video popped up in my feed. Subscribed!
Great to have you here and glad you like the photos.
I have seen some of your film photography pov before and I am a subscribed too 😉
hopefully it will be better and you will be able to shoot street again.
I bought the canon EOS M for the same reason but I thought why not to try something different and give it a shot in the street and it works 👍
Best wishes, Mumtaz
Wow, that’s cool that you’re subscribed too, thank you 😀✨
I can imagine that the EOS M would be a decent camera for street! Before I started shooting film I was using an Olympus E-PL3 and that’s very similar to the EOS M, just MFT. No viewfinder, no manual control dials. At the time most lenses were focus by wire though, the autofocus was terrible and the 2x crop made wide manual focus lenses hard to find, so I switched to film to be able to afford a Leica. I bought my Leica M6 before they became so ridiculously expensive, so that was a good move! If suddenly there was no film anymore, I think the EOS M with a CCTV lens would be my budget pick as well, at least for zone focussing!
Did I see it correctly that you already had some raw clips in this episode? Those static non talking clips at the beginning just can’t have been the GoPro! Or did you use one of your other cameras for those?
That's great 😊
if you ever think to use the the EOS M for street I would recommend you to go for the 7artisans 25mm f1.8 instead of the CCTV lens, even though the CCTV lens was good and sharp but it has some issues since it is mounted on adapter it shakes and the diameters all facing down and some other issues, I promised to put a feedback video about this setup but I am getting busy with other things.
The reason I chose the CCTV lens because I have different cameras and I want something with adapter to use on other camera as well.
There is no RAW video footage in my video I just used my other canon m6 for those parts and yes I was looking like a freak walking early morning in Dubai carrying 3 cameras 😂
@@MumtazBahri Well, that m6 sure gets some sweet footage too, I thought the colours were lovely in those shots! And haha about the 3 cameras 😂 I’ve done that myself a bunch of times 🤣
Good to know about the cctv lens and the adapter! That seems a tad annoying. Happens with my M42 lenses on my EF adapter too, but for video it doesn’t matter much. I actually ordered the 25mm cctv lens you linked with the m4/3 adapter because I already have a c mount adapter that fits quite well. I don’t have a lens here yet, so I don’t know whether the focusing scale is upside down with that one, but for video it really doesn’t matter much though. If it’s sharp I’m already happy! And for the price one can’t really go wrong! I kinda doubt that I’ll use the EOS M for street myself, I haven’t shot any digital in like 7 years!
With Magic Lnatern you get focus peaking. Might be useful for your close ups. I’ve owned three EOS M ‘s. Mainly video shooter but picking up street photography. You spray and pray a lot - I like it.
Great Video👍✨
Great video and great photos too! Greetings from Indonesia.

Good Job. Great photos
Thanks a lot ☺️ appreciate it 👍🏼
Mind blowing photos from such a budgte setup. Congrats!!!
Thanks buddy 🙏🏻 to be honest I feel more comfortable to shoot ith this setup than my expensive setup 😉
@@MumtazBahri very inspiring. Specially to get out with a low profile hardware and not being afraig to atract too much attention on the streets. One question.....how do you set up your exposure? The live view on the screen is kind of close to the real exposure?
Exactly 👍🏻
The exposure as I mentioned in the video (sunny 16) most of the time, I am using the camera like point and shoot as much as I can to focus more on the story and composition.
Assalamulaykum... Very interesting photos that you've made... Warm greeting from Lombok, Indonesia...
Thank you very much!
Greetings from Dubai ❤
I was looking at some potential new light-weight camera options for a trip to SE Asia this summer, and look who came up in the search. Loved this video, beautiful images. Also, respect for shooting in the intense heat, I've done it many times but it can be tough. Take care my friend.
Thank you my friend and sorry for my late reply but still I cant manage my time and space to be active on my youtube channel againg since I moved to the Philippines.
By the way don't take this setup in your trip it has so many down sides 😂
thank you for passing by and see you in the Philippines one day 👍
@@MumtazBahri No worries, UA-cam is a struggle, so I understand. I lived in the Philippines for a year in my 20s, I hope you are happy there.

Thank you very much, glad to hear that ❤️👍🏻
Just purchased my eos m2 and whenever I capture images they turn out a lot brighter in the playback than what I saw on the LiveView LCD when I was capturing them and I don't see anyway to control canon's "exposure simulation" on this camera.... I have found some work-arounds but i'm curious to know if you have faced the same issues with photos on this camera
Thinking of getting a EOS M10 because of this 😍
well, the EOS M10 is similar but with the advantage of having tilt screen and more megapixels I guess, anyhow I don't know how is the colors on the EOS M10 and if your if you are shooting photos in the street / bright sunlight I strongly recommend you to look for something with viewfinder 😉👍
@@MumtazBahri im texting you on Instagram

Hi, I really enjoyed the video. I also have the Eos M with its EF-M 22mm f.2 (35mm eq on FF) lens. Your photos are very beautiful; I saw that in the market you took pictures in M with the Sunny 16 rule, 1 / 200s f / 4 Iso 200? Regards.p.s. the Eos M is a great camera!
Thank you very much dear 👍🏼
Yes it is a good camera, I saw that most of the people are reviewing this camera for video and no one is talking about the photos, I gave a try and it was good 😉
And yes, sunny 16 and zone focusing are my favorite Street Photography technique 👍🏼
Great video..... Are these picture edited??????
Thanks buddy! Yes they are using my "Film look" Lightroom preset.
hi just bought eos m cant load the firmware 2.02 to use with ml.the ok icon is greyed out to finish the ok .it recognises the new firmware on screen.same with 2.03 .so just bought eos m with 14-45mm zoom for 130£.going get used to it for now.hi
Hi can I ask what is your settings for the moving subjects? Thank you !
I have been wanting to have a back up set up like this for a while now for the same zone focus reason. I also have a cheap 25mm 1.8 manual lens for the EFM mount (I had an M50). I just couldn't decide whether I get the original M or the newer M100. Great content by the way. Cheers!
It was good setup and I like the results but there was a negative side too like the lens diameters are not accurate for zone focusing and some other issues with the camera.
I be posting video about this setup pros & cons 👍🏼
@@MumtazBahri cool. Will be keeping and eye on that one. Thanks man! Subbed!🤙
Sure man, Welcome aboard 👍🏼
@@MumtazBahri my lens is a 7artisans 25mm f1.8. I find the zone focusing fairly accurate. I will have to check again if I end up purchasing another M camera since I already sold my M50.
For sure the 7artisans is more accurate, it is an awesome lens but I choose the CCTV coz I want to use on different mount not only canon m 😉
Nice video
Thanks mate, glad you like it 👍🏼
Yes, my friend. This is very nice. Great shots. How does the manual focus work with this camera? Is there a good focus assist system like peaking, or something to indicate good focus? I would have loved to see the shot at 7:53 framed with the star shape in the window. ✌️
Thanks dear, there is no any focus assist in this camera, you can get focus peaking if you install magic lantern on it.
otherwise you can magnify to check the focus if you have time or use the zone focusing for moving subjects like what I did 👍
I am currently looking around for this camera as it is also good for taking raw videos using Magic lantern.
Yes it is, I didn't try the raw video yet but even the normal 1080 video looks awesome and the colors are so good.
After 9 years, this camera offers great shots.
yes, it has nice image quality and colors 👍
but I don't think it can offer anything without good photographer 😂
I like the photos. My question is, do you use a lens converter for the 25mm f/1.8 CCTV lens?
thank you very much!
no lens converter, only cheap lens adapter cctv to eos m 👍
Really beautiful photos, love it. Where did you buy the lens?
Thank you very much, I put link to the lens in the description but there are some issues in the lens you need to know before you purchase so you will not hate me, like the diameters are facing down, some times it is little wiggling coz it is adapted and that depends the adapter you have, focusing numbers on the lens are not correct.
That what I remember for now but over all for the price it is a good lens.
Hope I was able to help you 👍🏼

Hello! Just got my EOS M. Will try that lens for street photog. Just noticed your shutter trigger on top. Where did you get it and how does it work? Thsnks Buddy and more power to you.
Congrats! That is not shutter trigger it is only thumb grip to rest you thumb and have better ergonomic 👍🏻
The EOS-M is a great little camera. I got mine to use Magic Lantern on it for video, but find I mainly use it for photography with the TTArtisans 35mm or the Canon 22mm.
What’s that on your hotshoe? Is it just to give you a better grip?
I thought that I was going to use it with the magic lantern to create awesome cinematic videos but it never reached that point honestly lol.
yes I love that combination the canon M and the 22m f2.
That is a thumb grip just for handling improvement.

Hey! I just bought this camera seeing your video! Really like it! Can you share your camera settings with me? I really love those pics.
Camera settings was simple, sunny 16 for exposure and zone focusing.
It is an old school film photography technique that might need some practice but when u get used to it you will be able to free your mind of camera settings and start focusing on the composition and story.
if u still need help ask me anything on my Instagram chat and for sure I will be happy to help.
@@MumtazBahri Great! Surely!
It also has 1080P RAW, 2.5K RAW, 50FPS RAW and more video modes at 14 BITS when you install Magic Lantern. You should try some Raw Video...it looks INSANE
Thank you Luis to mention the magic lantern, in my previous video I mentioned that shooting RAW video is one of the reasons why I bought it but in this video I challenge my self with some street photography and it goes well ;)
@@MumtazBahri Awesome, I got mine a couple weeks ago. Added a speedbooster, some vintage FD lenses and I’m ready for the adventure!
Congrats man, that is good choice.
I only got it with 2 cctv lenses, I really find them interesting but your FD vintage lenses will definitely look better 👍🏼
I just started using this same setup! Did you find that the lens hood helped at all?
I never try shooting without the hood honestly 😉
Mark my words: People will really miss the EOS M system, when lugging around RF mount APSC bodies and lenses.
I am keeping 2 APSC bodies forever, the EOS M and the Fujifilm xf10 😉 I am not a fan of full frame when it comes to street photography 🤫
Hi, Mumtaz. How is called arm installed in a cold shoe of the camera? Does it come with CCTV Lens link? Thanks.

What strap are you using and how did you attach it to camera?
That is the canon M original leather strap, it has a unique quick release system. I don't know why this was discontinued.
I think that ill buy this camera now
To be honest the price of this camera is increasing due to its popularity between filmmakers as it can shoot up to 14bit raw video after installing the magic lantern on it.
My advice if you need it for photos only there are many better options for its recent price 👍🏻😉
Thank you for watching 🙏🏻
@@MumtazBahri I think I’ll use it for both.. can’t wait to experiment lol
@@mikebeon2539 then it is worth it 👍🏻
I have 2 questions ! First; the colors and sharpness you got out of this are amazing I guess those are not straight out of the camera Jpegs, are you shooting RAW and have some nice presets? and how did you manage to get the video footage not shaky without any stabilization! I use this little one with an adapted fd 50mm (80mm in apsc) I already had, and trying to record is a nightmare I realize it's much harder because of the focal lenght but anyways It's really hard without a rig set up and big handles. Great pictures!!!
Thank you dear, first; you are right those are not straight out of the camera, when I was filming I shoot RAW + JPEG and I planned to post the jpegs as is but I didn't like the quality of the jpegs straight out of the camera so I use 2 presets I developed (Acros for bnw and Film look for colored)
second; the POV footage was shot using gopro 7 and it has good stabilizing and rest of the footage were shot using the canon m6 with the 10-18mm mounted on the viltrox adapter and since the lens is stabilized and it is wide angle the footage was stable unlike shooting with unstabilized 80mm equivalent it will be hard to stabilize.
best wishes, Mumtaz.

Hi Mumtaz, do you have to install Magic Lantern to shoot photos only? I don't shoot video, only RAW and Jpeg pictures. Nice pics by the way!

Thanks dear, yes it is chinese 25mm f1.8cctv , I put link in the description to the same lens.
I might put a little review about it, you can wait for it before buying 😉
@@MumtazBahri already ordered and it's in my hands just now! It's on my trusty sony a5000, could you please give some hints about the right settings for zone focusing? I tried with apps but it seems that is not properly working. Can you write down a starting point like shutter speed, aperture and subject distance? I tried at 60 f8 5mt distance to have from 2.2mt to infinity in focus but there's something wrong. I've seen your video again and you say f11 (but the lens had 11 marked and 16) and 2mt distance (but again I read 1 and then 5 on the scale). What about your shutter speed? Thanks man, very inspiring 👍
Congratulations fro you lens first.
Actually thats one of the reasons why I told you to wait for the review before buying, the marking on the lens is not so accurate so when I said in the video about f11 I put it in between f8 & f16 thats why I said about 😉
And the distance metering is not so accurate , I found the 0.6 on the lens is about 1meter and the 1m on the lens is about 2 meters in real.
So if put the same settings I use in the video you will be ok.
f11 (between the f8 & f16)
Focus 2 meters (1 meter on the lens because not accurate)
ISO depends on the light condition or follow the sunny 16 rule if u are aware of it.
If you follow the above settings whatever you shoot between about 1.5 to 5.5 meter will be fairly in focus.
Hope that help.
Best wishes, Mumtaz
@@MumtazBahri It helped A LOT thanks, for 25€ for what I've seen it's a steal, maybe tomorrow (we're actually in covid red zone unfortunately) coming back from work I'll try these settings. I was pretty sure that the scale was not precise at all but for that price it's not a problem.
@@Lorenzo_Melocchi good luck, hope you will enjoy shooting 👍🏼

Btw where do I get that shutter click on ur hotshoe from???
I dont know where do you live but it's generic search online for thumb rest or thumb grip and I didn't put any shutter button here 👍
Would you still recommend this 2021?
It depends on your budget and use, there are so many good options in the market for photography but if you need it for a very low budget filmmaking camera it is #1
Truly a pocket camera. For Street Photography it's always good to stay light! ahaahah Follow my latest POV on Street Photography if you want!

it is a CCTV lens can be adapted on different camera make, I like the images quality but not the ergonomics.

Can you see anything on the screen in sunlight?
as I remember I didn't struggle in that area and every thing was visible, maybe it is not visible for you in the POV video only.
in my latest video I was really struggling with Fujifilm xf10 display in the sunlight, I didn't have this issue with the Canon EOS M.
