Blue shirt guy here! I could hear you throughout those last laps and it spurred me on as I was going for a PB attempt too (which I got thankfully!). Fair play for the last 200m surge, I had nothing in the legs to keep with you!
Oh you absolute legend for dragging me along! You looked (and sounded) so much better than me, thought you were out doing a parkrun between a long run to be honest, like the red shirt guy! Glad you smashed a PB too!
@@CrownMyRun that's very nice of you to say! Definitely struggled on the last few hundred meters. Always nice to know that it looked like there was more in the tank. Thank you!
I have to say I am really loving these videos. Especially these ones with all the commentary. And I love that we can really hear the effort you guys are putting into these races, really makes me questioning how much I am leaving in the tank when I go out running. I have an interval session tomorrow, really going to strive to emulate you guys in these videos. I really needed this video today. Please keep 'em coming!
I did! Thanks to you! Did 5x3min and in that last rep it felt like I was just watching you run. Felt like I was back home, just yelling at the screen "come on J Mills, just push a little bit more". That last rep ended up being the fastest one of the day, and I felt like I sounded like you during most of the last rep. But, I think you can help me to go even faster. So next week my goal will be to sounds like J Mills for the last three reps. Again, I love these racing videos, as I really feel like I am getting racing experience by just watching you. But I would also love it if you shared some training videos, especially from some speed sessions.
@@WillB-xo2xr Ah nice one, you smashed it! I've got a video planned looking at my whole Brighton Marathon build that will have some session videos in 🙂
Incredible result, well done 👏Thanks for another inspiring and entertaining video. As another commenter said "And I love that we can really hear the effort you guys are putting into these races, really makes me questioning how much I am leaving in the tank when I go out running" When I next do a parkrun effort, I'll try to remember this video to make me push harder.
J Mills and D Mills both getting PB's in a week ! What the breathing hells going on ! 🤣 I was marshalling at Hastings and D Mills flashed past so quickly I nearly missed him, luckily I heard him ! 😅🤣 Well done to both of you 👍
Heroic stuff Jody. Congratulations. My Forerunner 245 reckons I can do parkrun distance at 22:16. The fastest I've ever done 5k is 23:38 and the fastest I've managed this year is 24:17. I'm now demoralised to learn that the thing isn't ridiculing me.
Mine has generally been sort of close to realistic hah. But only since I upped the mileage massively when training for marathons, before it was useless!
Great effort. fantastic run. Starting to far back and surging to catch the guy in red may have cost you a little but a stella effort and entertaining heavey breathing. A lot of people looking around to see if you were alright.
Cheers mate. A tough question, I like to think I have the leg speed for sub 16 down the road - just need to keep building that aerobic base and not get injured!
It’s crazy watching the video it doesn’t look like y’all are running too fast but then I look at the pace and realize you’re running faster than my mile pr 😭😭😭
Love it, congrats on the PB! My current 5k PB is very similar to yours - 17:25 - but my parkrun best is a way off that… feel like a very similar video may be coming up in the next month or so 😬 What are you aiming for at Brighton? I may be there spectating so will look out for you 👍🏼
Well I ran a 5k that nearly killed me and was a PB of 24:01. My Garmin then said “you can do it in 21:00.” Their predictors are never ever close for me even after a year of logging workouts. But I do admit that it makes me try to PB even if I know the prediction is impossible.
Cheers! Can't take credit for that haha - it's a collaboration between insta360 and Garmin - Insta 360 let's you pull in Garmin stats with the click of a few buttons!
Great vid. I'd like to mention a potential sensitive subject but I've wondered about this for a while and it's still a puzzle to me. I've done over 30 park runs here in the Midlands and I don't think I've seen one non-white person running. It's really weird. It's almost like non-whites are banned. Anyone else noticed this?
My maximum is around 190 when I use my heart rate monitor which I wasn't using here. Can occasionally get 192 on my watch but generally they are quite close to each other.

I don’t know which is better, the gentle moan at 9:12 causing him to look back or you saying I love running at 9:45 😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
Nice one J Mills! You really summoned up the patented D Mills breathing technique at the end there!
He loaned it out!

Cheers mate, I don't always find it possible to push quite like that but D Mills pretty much always does! Good luck!
Now all we need is a soothing 10 Hour Mills Breathing ASMR UA-cam Video to send us all off to sleep 😂
I can sort that out
Great running J.Mills! You pipped my new PB of 17:39 from last Saturday, at Eastbourne.
Hello Isaac!
Ah, nice one! Your one is probably quicker if there was such a thing as course graded haha!

Hahaha, thanks! D Mills vid coming very soon 👀👀👀
I thought I was on a different website with the noises being made at 4km
Thanks Tommy
cant watch without headphones these days haha
Thought we were going to see the typical J Mills fade...but it looks like the aerobic base has leveled up after the training. Well done J Mills.
🤣 The grind paying off!

That's interesting. Thank you. I'll be commencing marathon training quite soon. I'l pay it more attention.
This video got me hyped for my 5k on Sunday. Trying to beat 22 minutes. You are doing a great job of the videos
Hope you Absolutely smash it!!

Yeah, they thought an ambulance was gonna be needed most certainly! 🤣🤣
Great commentary. So impressed you could still say 'I love running' before the last bit.
🤣🤣
The passion prince 😂

quality content - more 5k park run videos please - how fast can you get 5k time? sub 16 min?
Cheers mate. A tough question, I like to think I have the leg speed for sub 16 down the road - just need to keep building that aerobic base and not get injured!
faster than i was expecting!! nice
I missed the part where you explained that D Mills pb was on a much slower course with multiple corners and grass
9:26 - Well, well, well. How the turntables...
Talking to himself after getting overtaken at the end …..’ you pathetic loser ‘ now that’s my kind of guy 😂😂😂 👏👏👏
🤣🤣🤣
next up you vs Dean Mills
Then you vs Damo vs that cousin that runs too....backyard ultra... forfeit for the loser
It’s crazy watching the video it doesn’t look like y’all are running too fast but then I look at the pace and realize you’re running faster than my mile pr 😭😭😭
Would have been my mile pace not very long ago too!

Thanks man! I am aiming towards a sub 3 so hopefully be glued to the pacer.
We shall see how it goes!!
Good stuff, I will probably shout J Mills into the ether then and see what sticks 😂

What do you use to get the running stats overlay over your videos?
insta360 has a really easy to use feature to import my Garmin stats with the click of a button!
But can he do it on a warm early summers day at Eastbourne Summer course?
Sorry if my comments came too early or shows ignorance, am curious to know your maximum HR? 2:15

great effort
D Mills quaking in his alphas! Unreal effort that 🫡
😂😂😂😂😂 🙆🏽♂️ I love running
Bloody sensational effort, seems copying D Mills breathing techniques really helped you at the end there!
🤣🤣 The only thing you can do when you're down the well!
Which Garmin watch do you use?
Garmin Fenix 6x
Nice.
Lost episode of Peep Show?
🤣🤣
I ran a 16.22 5k and my watch messed up the distance and thought I ran 16.00, but the race predictor still said I was in 16.45 shape
Always good to beat the watch!
Estimated Best Effort is what reallllllly counts anyway!
My 5k pb which is pretty recent is 19:32 but my watch predicts 18:10 😂😂
🤣🤣 Nice one haha - My watch was demanding low 18s when I'd just broken 20 too 😂
Sorry to say, but Garmin’s estimated PB is garbage. Even after PB-ing 10k, half and mara last year, it *still* underestimated each distance!
and on my side my garmin think my PB is 18'50 the day after i run a 18'09 5k...
Nice one!
My watch says predicted time 21:30 but my pb is 16:02 😂
Wow, that's the biggest difference I've seen!
12:56 - False
Definitely could've gone faster if you paced way better!
Yeah, I'll sort it out next time hopefully!
For a few seconds at least……
parkrun isn't a race.
😢😢
What are you using for recording race and implementing pace an HR in video ?
Insta360go3. It lets you pull in the Garmin stats with the click of a few buttons!
