I’ve already applied what you taught in this video. My release is so much smoother and my accuracy has improved tremendously. Thank you very much. Your videos have helped me to become a better traditional shooter
Brilliant. I'm newish to archery and have really improved my form thanks to you. I always wondered why my wrist would break or hand drop at the wrist pivot point on release. I love the way top archers like yourself slide the hand along the face and the fingers stay almost the same after release. After trying this on a stretch band and like you said in another video, welding the chain together when at full draw and pivoting the whole arm and hand as one unit around my anchor point, my hand literally moves back along my face and only a few inches. Before it flew back. I think I was over emphasising on moving through the shot and was pulling too much. This little technique makes it look and feel so much better and from looking in the mirror, my hand doesn't come out from my face like before, but moves around instead. I'm self teaching through watching videos like yours and I've come along way in just a year technique wise. I'm shooting barebow and your content in priceless Jake so keep posting. Much love and respect from Ireland 🙂
My teacher used a very strange method to improve my release and do it "as one unit". So what he did was to put a small stick between my forearm and biceps (like in the elbow joint) so i was supposed to keep it there and not drop it during the release😂
Jake I cannot say thank you enough for making all these videos imparting your knowledge and instruction for us coaches and students. I’m an accomplished compound shooter and have embraced the Olympic recurve and am enjoying my journey thus far!! I pretty much use all of your videos to learn and tweak my shooting bc it’s real and tried and tested. I appreciate what you do!! 🙏🏽
Loving the content Jake, You are making a significant difference to aspiring archers. Love the simplicity and authenticity of your channel as opposed to other barebow channels that want to make it a project. I love the way you can break down each component of the shot cycle in a way it is easily understood. Keep doing what your doing, it’s working.
So much exceptional content. This one in particular really helped me. Thank you so much for putting in the effort to get this content out. I am just a backyard champion. To get this level of insight is a real treat.
Thanks mate. I don’t know how I have stumbled on it either but about a month go I started having a nice release with a really good and tight follow trough. Maybe just as you have shown without realising it. Love your work by the way.
Thanks for the video Jake, the new studio looks great! What you are doing for archery is great! When new to archery, a lot of people don't even know that they need to get follow on coaching, and spend a lot of time flailing around in the dark, not knowing how to progress! I am sure that your videos not only help these people, but let them know that there is he to be had, and that they should be able go call on it! Thank you! 😊
Very interesting! My hand was flying out, I asked for advice on a FB archery group and I heard all of the same things we've all heard a million times - relaxed string hand, proper back tension, etc. I feel like I tried all of these things and the same issue exists when I watch video of myself. I will give this a shot! Great stuff.
Tried this out this morning. Wow, what a difference and makes so much sense. Keeps your hand anchored in more stable position for longer. Keeps you "inside the bow" for longer. Thanks Jake!!
I started doing HEMA and Fencing when I was young. Last year I got into Archery. Have 3 recurve bows already. Love it, got a nice set up in my backyard, shoot at least 3 times a week. This release your talking about, looks like it is very, very clean. I will try this.
Excellent information. I'm fairly newly returning to archery and have been working on various methods to see what works best for my age and body (63 y.o. - big guy with history of shoulder issues). I think this is going to help clean up my release.
Your insight has helped me and many of my students. I really appreciate you and this channel. Thanks so much for your efforts to support better archery.
Wow!!!!! This really seems to work without actually trying to do anything except think about the pivot point. For me it works to think about the pivot point being the fingers on the string. There is one problem that was an immediate concern....breaking too many arrow nocks. I am sure I will find a way of screwing up something else to fix that.
you are a skilled teacher with all your experience, thanks, that really helped me... I often thought to myself how to fix my release, now I know how to do. Greetings from Germany....
Dear Jake, I'd like to thank you for the time and afford to make those videos! They've been unbelievably helpful! Because of the hints, tips and tricks you've explained i've managed to climb to 1st place in the second class barebow competition in my region. If i get the chance i'll do a shout-out for you and your channel. Sincerely A.D.S.
Ok, I tried to use the anchor point as a pivot, (target compound, hinge release) but often got low or low left shots. It felt good like I had clean breaking shots, but I underperformed at tonight's tournament. I will try again in practice - maybe I am having trouble getting good back tension and I am getting "stuck" at full draw?
Thanks so much for this. I recently started archery and I tend to pluck when I release. Definitely going to practice this. Also need to keep my shoulder down. As soon as I draw, my shoulder shoots up (the arm I'm holding the bow with).
Hello from Belgium, the small clubs do not have a structure to teach and correct bad habits and techniques. It is very difficult to correct them later... but your videos are very useful as well as the preparation of the materials. THANKS. All the best.
Thanks for this compact but very very helpful video. That's exactly my problem. And now I will try to use your tips for better results. Thx a lot. Greetings from Germany . I like your channel. 👍🏼
Wow! What a difference. The arrows came blasting out of the bow. (Well, for me anyway!) I am thinking that it will hold up well even when I am fatigued. This will help me a lot. Thank you Jake.
Would love to see you in a completely disruptive area and to apply your knowledge in thumb realese with asiatic bows. Almost sure that the "linear anchorage" would make the target panic a non existent problem. And I swear you can get a better alignment and back engagement. Plus the fun of the challenge is something I never experienced with any other bow styles. Please come to the darkest side of archery :)
Hey Jake Thank you for your work, your videos are very well made. Even though l don't understand all what you said, when l see you in action it's clear. I think that l'm lucky to know your chanel 👍 Cheers from France 🇨🇵 and sorry for my english !
I've thought about it a lot and tried different options It seems to me it is better to turn the shoulders, as if aligning them along the arrow, There is a movement forward of the front arm and backward of the back arm, which leads to a shot. However, I shoot the compound with the release.
You can use Spigarelli Elbow pad to learn this. It helps a lot. There is a tube which comes into the inner side of your elbow so, you can squeeze it (close the V of the fore and upper arm ) and this help to keep upper and forearm together.
I made a huge jump in my archery journey the day I met a Canadian archer who was shooting at the same level as Jake. He told me about training with the Korean Olympic team. At that time their shooters trained 8 hours a day shooting 56 or 57 pounds. Nobody is immune to repetitive motion injury.
For me, there are two biggest clean ups of release: move your forearm as one piece, not just elbow or wrist, both of them at the same time, and keep the release finger cureled up after the release and move them "through" the neck. My best go to when I stagle.
Anchor pivot is the answer to a clean and consistent release... Many Bare Bow Archers are moderately good "pluckers" at 20m however, they fail at 50m. Your lower anchor is another great tip. Many Bare Bow Archers use 30-36# bows for indoor events. These same Archers are disappointed when they attempt 50m targets. Their arrows fall short at the maximum elevated crawl. They aim over the target at 50m which is not successful. Perfecting a lower anchor with proper upright head alignment is the answer for a 50m (plus) point on, IMO.
Awesome video Jake! I have watched alot of your videos and they are usually great but this single tip was by far the best coaching tip I have ever encountered. This cleaned up my release really dramatically as you said and my groups really came together 🤗
I had problems with technique for my release for a long time, then I had a very good release for a while, and now arthritic hands have me wondering. Enjoy it while it lasts.
Something to work on for sure. I like that small band you are using to demo...is that specific for archery, or just a band you found that is good for this type of demonstration?
The trainer at our local archery club teaches his "Grab the Egg"-method; the egg being your shoulder. If you try to touch the top of your shoulder after release, you kind of get a similar motion.
Awesome thank you, you know I was doing this before in my first shooting and one coach tell me that I will hurt my shoulder and I need to change my pivot point to the spine. I didn’t know that I was right and I was shooting right😃
My anchor being a hinge? Hmm... This could be it. Will definitely give it a try next week. Is this something I can already start to imagine while expanding?
Great tip! Thank you. Oh and I've got that same cabinet work bench set up. :) Costco? As far as the release, this is something I've been working really hard on... so this is perfect.
This is some wizard shit, immediately cleaned up my release after months of trying to work on it.
Tried it today ! Quite a difference. My groups became much, much tighter. Thank you and thanks for all you do for the sport !
I’ve already applied what you taught in this video. My release is so much smoother and my accuracy has improved tremendously. Thank you very much. Your videos have helped me to become a better traditional shooter

Just starting with archery, your videos makes all much easier! Thanks for sharing your expert knowledge!
My teacher used a very strange method to improve my release and do it "as one unit". So what he did was to put a small stick between my forearm and biceps (like in the elbow joint) so i was supposed to keep it there and not drop it during the release😂
Another archery UA-cam online resource mentioned something like this, a device that is outlawed because it is so effective.😅👍
Did it help?
After years of searching and struggling, this makes sense. Thx for the series.
Jake I cannot say thank you enough for making all these videos imparting your knowledge and instruction for us coaches and students.

You are one of the last good guys out there, Namaste from India.
Loving the content Jake,
You are making a significant difference to aspiring archers.
Love the simplicity and authenticity of your channel as opposed to other barebow channels that want to make it a project.
I love the way you can break down each component of the shot cycle in a way it is easily understood.
Keep doing what your doing, it’s working.
You have helped me so much with my form man. Love the form videos
I have been working on this forever, 77 years. Nice explanation.
So much exceptional content. This one in particular really helped me. Thank you so much for putting in the effort to get this content out. I am just a backyard champion. To get this level of insight is a real treat.
Thank you! I’m glad to help, I love sharing these things to make a difference in people’s archery.
I tried it and it actually works. My release-follow through now is better and I can see an improvement in my scores downrange
This I think is exactly what I needed! I've been trying to clean up my release for years now..... Thank you squire
Thanks mate.
I don’t know how I have stumbled on it either but about a month go I started having a nice release with a really good and tight follow trough.

So much gold on this channel!
Tried this out this morning. Wow, what a difference and makes so much sense. Keeps your hand anchored in more stable position for longer. Keeps you "inside the bow" for longer. Thanks Jake!!

I just love acronyms that I do not understand.
Excellent information. I'm fairly newly returning to archery and have been working on various methods to see what works best for my age and body (63 y.o. - big guy with history of shoulder issues). I think this is going to help clean up my release.
Just what I needed. Makes a whole lot of sense. Thanks Jake.
Your insight has helped me and many of my students. I really appreciate you and this channel. Thanks so much for your efforts to support better archery.
Glad to help! Thanks for the SuperThanks!
It definitely works. I can now mentally project the motion and consciously follow it instead of random so-so motion with each release.
Was just thinking how I could clean up my release, while watching slow motion video. Then this video popped into my feed! Fortuitous! Thank you!
Your logical scientific explanations are very valuable
Jake "I'm obviously exaggerating" Kaminski. Great content, thanks!
Wow!!!!! This really seems to work without actually trying to do anything except think about the pivot point. For me it works to think about the pivot point being the fingers on the string. There is one problem that was an immediate concern....breaking too many arrow nocks. I am sure I will find a way of screwing up something else to fix that.
That's a really useful tip to think about. I've been working on my release as I know that's what's affecting my consistency.
I feel what you have also said previously that makes the vital difference is pulling the last part using the hand and not anywhere else.
you are a skilled teacher with all your experience, thanks, that really helped me...
I often thought to myself how to fix my release, now I know how to do.
Greetings from Germany....
Your channel is awesome. I’m a noob and all your information is so helpful. Thanks!
Thanks. I can try that for my next lesson.
Jake, your content is outstanding. Thank you. My shooting is getting better by the day.
Another gem of information! Many thanks ❤

This detail of thinking about the anchor point as the pivot point clears things up for me nicely.
This is a very interesting new way to approach the release... will try tomorrow morning! Thanks
Man, whatever issue I have with my form, you have a video about it and usually with a very small but very effective fix ...
Thank you Jake! This makes a world of difference!!!
I'm taking my first steps in archery, the recommendation is very useful, I usually try to touch my ear and I think it works.
Thanks so much for this. I recently started archery and I tend to pluck when I release. Definitely going to practice this. Also need to keep my shoulder down. As soon as I draw, my shoulder shoots up (the arm I'm holding the bow with).
took a while to find the reason for that problem, thanks jake gonna try tomorrow
Definitely going to try this, makes total sense.
Looking forward to trying this technique, just starting archery and so far, you are the best out there...Please keep it up
Hello from Belgium, the small clubs do not have a structure to teach and correct bad habits and techniques. It is very difficult to correct them later... but your videos are very useful as well as the preparation of the materials. THANKS. All the best.
THANKS!! This is a great great tip for getting people off with a consistent release.
Thanks for this compact but very very helpful video. That's exactly my problem. And now I will try to use your tips for better results. Thx a lot. Greetings from Germany . I like your channel. 👍🏼

Hey Jake
Thank you for your work, your videos are very well made. Even though l don't understand all what you said, when l see you in action it's clear.
I think that l'm lucky to know your chanel 👍
Cheers from France 🇨🇵 and sorry for my english !
Thanks for that video. Release is the most difficult part of the shot process so this was very helpful.
Will be trying this tonight thanks Jake👍!
thank you Jake! and dont worry about the 'state' of your studio! its fascinating to see all the stuff :)
Great video Jake, can't wait to try this out tomorrow 🏹
Thank you for all your knowledge shared, it has added much to my efforts to progress, cheers!!
I've thought about it a lot and tried different options It seems to me it is better to turn the shoulders, as if aligning them along the arrow, There is a movement forward of the front arm and backward of the back arm, which leads to a shot. However, I shoot the compound with the release.

Hi from Salta Argentina Thank you Jake I will practice this tip today !!
Thanks Mate! Your guidance is great. 🙂
I will certainly try this. Great video.

New game....take a shot everytime Jake says pivot point!! 🥂🤪
Anchor pivot is the answer to a clean and consistent release... Many Bare Bow Archers are moderately good "pluckers" at 20m however, they fail at 50m.

Good advice, thank you.
it worked 😊
Thank you so much, you solved my problem 100 percent. I can't thank you enough 💜.
I can see the difference. I’m trying it today
Hi Jake. Thanks a lot for your videos. They are really helpful for new persons in archery. Please keep doing this. Thanks!
Thank you! This was a very interesting way to explain this issue- and very helpful for me to start being aware of. Cheers.
Thank you Mr K…….very helpful
Been waiting for this. Having problems with my release for so long
I had problems with technique for my release for a long time, then I had a very good release for a while, and now arthritic hands have me wondering. Enjoy it while it lasts.
You are the best jake
Thanks for another great video!
Something to work on for sure. I like that small band you are using to demo...is that specific for archery, or just a band you found that is good for this type of demonstration?
Keep up the great work! You’re content is awesome.
Definitely worked for me. Thanks!!
Joking aside - a subtle, but impressive insight. Timely too - soon it will be warm enough to get outside and do my backyard Agincourt thing again 🙂
it's very clear, thanks
Great video, something to reflect on! Cheers Jake
thanks for everyting you shared for us god bless you
The trainer at our local archery club teaches his "Grab the Egg"-method; the egg being your shoulder. If you try to touch the top of your shoulder after release, you kind of get a similar motion.
I will try this! Thank you.
You are amazing. Thanks for everything!
Use to do it that way kinda got away from it. Going to have to start doing it that way again. Darren
Just thinking about it helps.
Thank you. I will try it.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge 💛
This helps SOOO much! Thx you!
Awesome thank you, you know I was doing this before in my first shooting and one coach tell me that I will hurt my shoulder and I need to change my pivot point to the spine. I didn’t know that I was right and I was shooting right😃

Awesome, I want to Barebow, hopefully towards the end of the year I'll get equipment and find some like minded people in the area.
Great tip! Thank you. Oh and I've got that same cabinet work bench set up. :) Costco? As far as the release, this is something I've been working really hard on... so this is perfect.
