This was Connelly's favorite scene as she got to wear that elegant gown, go to a lavish ball with all those odd characters... and Bowie as her escort, serenading her with one of his most memorable songs...
REST IN PEACE MY FRIEND . YOU HAVE GAVE ME 30 PLUS YEARS OF MUSIC , NEVER TO FORGET . THE FIRST SONG , THERE WILL NEVER BE A LAST . YOUR VOICE WILL EVER FOLLOW .
I am 35 years old noe and have loved Bowie since I had my first tape recorder, I have seen this movie 100 times over and know all of the words, and I always imagined I was dancing with him in this scene......................seeing this bring back memories xxxxxx
Can a scene be more perfect? All,that lovely forest, the characters, the music, the lyrics! This part of the movie is like to be in a dream into another dream...Love sarah eyes and face, they are the most beautiful ones I´ve ever seen...!!! Producers don´t do movies like this anymore. This was magic!
David Bowie is a musical genius. How he managed to put Sarah's character into the song, it's not that she acted out the part, it's how he composed the song and prepared the movie to fit her in it. It was a masterpiece. And he completely owned in this movie. Any guy who makes a world, takes you into his dreams and bends time for you definitely deserves your attention. :P
Jennifer Connolly may have been much younger than Bowie but something tells me she didn't need to act to show that expression of wide eyed infatuation and wonder tinged with a little fear of the unknown. He probably had that effect on every woman he chose to pay attention to. Rest in Peace David, one of the greatest Englishmen of all time, or of all men of the World for that matter.
+Azure he had a great deal of vulnerability. it wouldnt have been difficult to get at his soft spot haha. sorry im too much of a psychologist... his vulnerability is why he went for younger ones, because they felt safer emotionally for him. source. first love 13 years older than me. also a musician. also a Bowie type. but the downside is that their control is that in they wont budge no matter what. "their self control". yeah, don't ask me how i know. but trust me, i know. lol.
+TheNajain Yes I was 9 years old when I whatched this movie sorry my english I speak spanish ... I felt the same like Jennifer Connelly when I whatched the movie I felt in love with David ohhhh that times....
You were to music as Picasso or Monet were to painting, as Newton or Einstein was to math/science, as Jefferson or Adams were to freedom -- a true artist and giant. Thanks for pushing us to expand...
I've watched this movie so many times, it's almost like Jareth and Bowie are physcially two separate people even though I know Bowie played Jareth, but its almost like - to me at least- another persona of Bowie. Like the way he sings just seems a little different then how he sounded in the 80s. Like his voice is a bit deeper. Maybe it's just the key the song is written in but that's how you know hes such a good actor. He makes the character a separate being, you almost forget it's Bowie.. Because right then, he's Jareth, The Goblin king.
This was every teenage girl's fantasy. Who didn't want to be swept off her feet by a handsome, singing, magical king. Too bad she chose the baby. I would have said screw that, I'm Queen of the Goblins! LOL
I was born in 1979. All my friends (girls) had seen Labirinth when they were children. I was the only one who hadn't. I was about 25 or more when I saw the movie at last. And today I'm the only one among those girls who really knows and loves David. Age doesn't matter.
fabulous movies one of my childhood faves still is and its now one of my daughters fave film too typical even bowie is my daughters fave singer tooo such class and taste
Such a sad love deep within my eyes. How tender my heart. I will be there for you as the world falls down even if, the pain sweeps through and it makes no sense for you. True Love is hard to faithfully find.~Hugs Regan Starr
I watched this movie for the first time in 1992 when i was 7 and I immediately fell in love with Bowie's character and Bowie himself. I think this movie is the reason for my loving long-haired guys :)
My daughters are all fans of this movie too 21 down to 10 5 in total my 12 year old loves david bowie If a song she never heard comes on the radio she knows it is him I grew up with him and this makes me very proud that I can share his music with her!
Still my favourite film of all time! I love the gentle intro that the film gives to the song while they're talking. I can't find the background music anywhere that leads to the song, but I feel like the intro makes the actual beginning of the song a wonderful crescendo!
The song that goes right before "As the world falls down" is called "Hallucination" (the 6th track on the soundtrack) and it encompasses pretty much all the intro heard in this video.
Oh I've been so in love with Bowie since I saw this at 6 years old........ Not a healthy way to see romance or have a love for a rock legend who has no idea I or those who love him exist, but I just love this movie.
Me too every now and then. It was in the time when I was introduced to concept of the end of the world, that I used to listen to this song endlessly. It somehow fitted too. One of a kind artist really.
Saw this back when i was in the fifth grade fell in love with David bowie and still love his music and him .. wish they would have made another movie but they probably won't ever .
Bowie was the ultimate #dilfgoal for me. Anyway, in all seriousness, I still can't believe he's dead. I loved his music, especially this movie. I discovered this when I was around 12 or 13. Loved Bowie ever since.
Jennifer Connelly as Amy Gdala in STAR MUSICAL! What say you? What say YOU? R.I.P. David Bowie. This song still has my attention! It makes me feel like going to the country of HEAVEN... EYE created...
Yeah, Jennifer Connelly would make a perfect Amy Gdala... YOU have a good point HERE! And THIS song should make you feel bizarre and strange... Because it's going to be apart of the country of HEAVEN also!
Dammit sarah !! Easy easy choice LOL i was only 8 years old when i came across the Labyrinth VHS tape my mom got me and ! David bowie was my first crush, love. First time seeing the movie fell in love with his look and his heavenly voice 😘😘
This song will forever be twined with both of my first two loves. The second of those is still with me 23 years later. The movie was certainly rich in symbolism, but is also quite magical for me.
I begged my dad to buy this movie for my birthday when I was about 13. He did and that was back when some vhs movies cost about $90! I still have it. I've seen this movie a hundred times probably. I still love it.
Fascinating, how you were raised on this movie and yet you were born years after it's release. Well, whatever, as an 80's child who indeed grew up with this movie, I can respect anyone who has nostalgic respect for this film.
When I was younger I wanted this song for my first dance at my wedding, I wanted Jennifer Connely's dress...and hell, David Bowie as the groom would've been icing on the cake! Lucky Iman got there first. ;)
Najlepszy 'jak dla mnie' film jaki oglądałam jako dziecko... ściągnęłam go po tylu latach jakiś czas temu aby obejrzeć ponownie... :) od tamtej pory uwielbiam jego piosenki : )
whenever i hear this song i always think of happy times watching this when i was very little thank you for posting this . one of the most memorable movies of all time
Magical to hear and watch…I'm so happy to discover this gem…I didn't know this movie…magistral Bowie as always…and it's so beautiful to read all these declarations of love here! Yes David - thank you infinitely for all the creativity, magic, non-conformism, so much inspiration and much more during all these years…you are always a true artist!!!
RIP Beautiful Soul
+Megan Ledgend You're a beautiful song.

bignath250688 Aww congregations!
This was Connelly's favorite scene as she got to wear that elegant gown, go to a lavish ball with all those odd characters... and Bowie as her escort, serenading her with one of his most memorable songs...
A treasured childhood memory. This was one of my favorite scenes of the movie.
Best bit of the whole movie! I'm 34 years old and I STILL want Sarah's ball gown
Love him. I admire him. His talent is great. His charisma is amazing.
REST IN PEACE MY FRIEND . YOU HAVE GAVE ME 30 PLUS YEARS OF MUSIC , NEVER TO FORGET . THE FIRST SONG , THERE WILL NEVER BE A LAST . YOUR VOICE WILL EVER FOLLOW .
he has gone to rule over his labyrinth
RIP

I still love this movie... there's just something about it, they dont make adventure movies like this anymore.
Great film. Sad that David Bowie is no longer with us. He will be writing music in heaven, I am certain! RIP David. Long may you be remembered.
Rest in peace my dear goblin king
R.I.P. thank you for being a part of my childhood and for sharing with us your talents.
R.I.P goblin king you will be forever in our hearts
Rest In Peace David Bowie, a true, great man. x
16 years later and here I am! My first saved video on UA-cam! As the world falls down! Thank you so much!

Susanna Savidge Either way you would end up with babies LOL.
Susanna Savidge And Jennifer Connelly was the princess every boy dreamed about.
Broke my heart when she didn't choose him.
I was born in 1979. All my friends (girls) had seen Labirinth when they were children. I was the only one who hadn't. I was about 25 or more when I saw the movie at last. And today I'm the only one among those girls who really knows and loves David. Age doesn't matter.
I had the soundtrack on vinyl back in the 80's , still love this film , good to know there are still plenty of people who still like it.
my heart aches. RIP..

This is one of the most "haunting", beautiful songs I've ever heard.
Classic....oh man my mother would just watch this movie thousands of times and i would sit next to her and watch it with her...
Such a sad love deep within my eyes. How tender my heart. I will be there for you as the world falls down even if, the pain sweeps through and it makes no sense for you. True Love is hard to faithfully find.~Hugs Regan Starr
Can I go ahead and say that these people dressed up like goblins for Jareth's ball are scarier than the "real" goblins ever are in this film?
I watched this movie for the first time in 1992 when i was 7 and I immediately fell in love with Bowie's character and Bowie himself. I think this movie is the reason for my loving long-haired guys :)

I absolutely adored this movie as a child, and I still do. I don't understand how anyone could hate such a masterpiece.
I loved David Bowie in this movie. Great performer, unparalleled talent. The music from this just spoke to me.
