CHI did have unfair expectations for him (he was never a franchise-changing player) and he did get a better guard when Rose came along...but (like Swift), he wasn't that good. A few ESPN highlight dunks per game never leads to a (positively) memorable career. Personally, I believe he and Swift were unfortunately brought into the league during an era where bigs were transitioning from "the block" to 15ft+ out to the perimeter. However, that is NO excuse for not working on expanding your game. With his athleticism/tools, and a true desire to improve/evolve his game, he could have left the league with 17pts & 8-10reb career averages.
I remember that LSU Final Four team with so many players from Louisiana... Big Baby, Tasmin Mitchell, Darrel Mitchell, Tyrus Thomas, Garrett Temple, Darnell Lazare...
I’ll never forget that. LMA was a consensus future All-Star and exactly the kind of big we needed at the time. The FO was gambling on Tyrus because they always picked the “safe” players like LMA. Well, that was for a good reason. Most of our picks in this era were really good and we built a playoff team. LMA would have been enough to make us elite (but likely not get Rose later on). Imagine having Ben Wallace, Aldrigde, Deng, Gordon, Hinrich with Duhon, Larry Hughes, Nocioni, Drew Gooden and Joakim Noah off the bench. That’s a fucking squad in the East back then.

Tyrus Thomas wasn't a bust, I've seen every game he had for the Chicago Bulls & he was really good for us. Derrick Rose was a great pick and roll facilitator with him. Tyrus got hurt and Taj Gibson came on strong as a rookie and they traded him. Love Tyrus just got the short end of the stick.
Why just why did we trade Aldridge for Thomas? If we had Aldridge this season we would've gotten past Pistons because we wouldn't have to rely on jumpshots and could've actually run the offence through the post.
Great Video! I was never sold on Thomas. I knew he was taken to high. He was a role player at best. However he could have been a great role guy. Great analyst.
He should have been in the league for years he wasn’t anything close to being even the 3rd best player on a team, but 100% could have been an energy big off the bench he had great defensive presence, and was a lob threat for easy buckets, and was a great offensive rebounder exactly what you’d want from a big off the bench.
Saying that the management was ignorant to Tyrus Thomas and his development is untrue. If you look at all the other players the Bulls drafted like Deng, Hinrich, Taj Gibson, Sefolosha and more it shows that they had great scouting and weren’t ignorant. Clearly Tyrus Thomas just didn’t have the skill or the work ethic to match his athletic talent.
I saw him in Baton Rouge in the South and the guy I was with asked him does he play basketball. Tyrus said yes for LSU and in my head, I was like "n*** ain't at no damn LSU..." I assume it was his red shirt year and that's why I didn't know him. Then the next year is when I saw him and I was like damn, he was telling the truth.
Still scratching my head at the Bulls trading for him over LaMarcus Aldridge on draft day😩🤔. Could’ve been set with him and Noah for years to come. These front offices make questionable decisions every year. I sometimes wonder who does their scouting. Anyway good video brotha!
@@baconatorrodriguez4651 That question is irrelevant. That was 2006 when Aldridge came out and Noah in 07. I hope you weren’t expecting him to still be one of the top big men in the league at this point.
He made me cry when he beat Duke in the Sweet 16 with Glen Davis. Im a big Duke fan. I thought Tyrus was gonna be amazing in the NBA. He never worked on his shot or his inside defense though.
Bulls are currently doing the same thing to Patrick Williams as they have done with tyson chandler....eddie curry and other great picks.....SF 49ers which is my team does this same thing....literally will waste a top 5 pick and get nothing out of them 😢
I personally liked the fact that we got Tyrus over Aldridge... it took a while for Aldridge to develop into the star that he is/was. Tyrus was an "Elite" rim protector with a high motor... you hit it on the head with your mention of him needing a guard tho🏀
Try to have him develop a corner three, slash occasionally, run a fast break, he definitely could have succeeded today. With his athleticism and shot blocking instincts he could have been great for switching on defense.
I think his biggest stunt was his basketball IQ, he seemed a little slow.. The bulls coach at the time Scott skiles told him out run the other team on offense and we will give you the ball but he didnt do it.. he was good for some dunks and weak side blocks. he lacked development some of that is his fault & some is the teams fault.
Good selection as usual, but stunted growth, as far as the comparison between TT, and Swift, I think of the "it factor....."also Lamarcus Aldridge, both had... LA, could activate the "it factor" with 18 footer jump shot.. Swift with his "in game dunks" both which could change the momentum of the game without having plays drawed up... Aka "point guard dependent" if you will.. Thomas never mastered either.. Just my thoughts, appreciate your craft anyhow.. Salute!!!
@@vinnysmoove I agree bro but we both kno all star voting is a joke fam voting an assure you with the pg tyrus would of made atleast 1 allstar an a few defensive teams highlight dunks an blocks consistently will get you noticed averaging 14 15 a game instead of a boring 20 on a losing team

Paxton has made many dumb draft decisions
Yeah, but Where's LaMarcus now??
@@baconatorrodriguez4651 That question is irrelevant. That was 2006 when Aldridge came out and Noah in 07. I hope you weren’t expecting him to still be one of the top big men in the league at this point.
@@dafundraiser563 That’s the thing, he looks at LaMarcus as this bust when in fact he was at his best in Portland
Yooo that's 🔥 I was just thinking drop him because of swift keep grinding my brother
Tyrus was number 3 for me. Even tho he came in 06. Still a beast dunker!
He made me cry when he beat Duke in the Sweet 16 with Glen Davis. Im a big Duke fan. I thought Tyrus was gonna be amazing in the NBA. He never worked on his shot or his inside defense though.
Disagree on his shot and his defense
@@kadmielbarney6642 he had a terrible shot. He couldn't score.
I felt he was descent from mid range to me.. I don't know what his fg percentage was
dude's max vert was on 99overall jumping to the 🌙
Bulls are currently doing the same thing to Patrick Williams as they have done with tyson chandler....eddie curry and other great picks.....SF 49ers which is my team does this same thing....literally will waste a top 5 pick and get nothing out of them 😢
Lmao Tyrus Thomas reminding me of Swift so much i said that in the last vid then u drop his 😂😂😂😂 man I wish we kept Aldridge
I personally liked the fact that we got Tyrus over Aldridge... it took a while for Aldridge to develop into the star that he is/was. Tyrus was an "Elite" rim protector with a high motor... you hit it on the head with your mention of him needing a guard tho🏀
Yea I would have had him instead of Boozer
Do one on Granville Waiters who used to play for the Chicago Bulls
This guy was a beast in NBA 2k11, he plays great as center for me lol
Tom thibeteu was a great defensive coach tyrus was more like hikeem warrwick he needed phoenix an steve nash
I got a few guys for you. Desmond Mason, Andrea Bargnani, and flip Murray.
Do Josh Smith bro
You forgot 1 thing he let a rookie Taj Gibson come in and take his minutes
Can you do one of Kelenna Azuibike?
Great vertical. The league wasn't doing much developing. Had he been drafted 10 years later he'd be one if the best in the league. Crazy athleticism.
Try to have him develop a corner three, slash occasionally, run a fast break, he definitely could have succeeded today. With his athleticism and shot blocking instincts he could have been great for switching on defense.
Do Eddie Curry Bro👍🏾🎯
He used to remind me of Shawn kemp little bit.
Shawn Kemp was a different kind of monster but I respect yo opinion...
Can you do Anthony Randolph
Tyrus Thomas is currently in the shirtless + jeans basketball hall of fame. Long Live #TheBumslayer!!
Bulls previous management was so stupid
Was just thinking about Tyrus the other day. Whats he doing now?
Donyell Marshall from UConn? All American during the 90's.
You should do longer videos on certain video. I would definitely watch a 30 minute video.
Request: Glen Davis, Kirk Hinrich, or Andre Miller
None of their growth was stunted
Can you do one on Billy Owens
We got the same exact Birthday 8/17/86...
Dion Waiters next
KillFaDaThrill he did dion
i don't understand how both he and stromile washed out of the league. i thought at worst they would be high energy guys who could block shots
Salute!!!
My Bulls are the definition of stunted growth
Was a beast at LSU
im a bobcats og fan, ngl i loved tyrus
The Bulls drafted well in the 2000s.
Can u do Sebastian telfair?
You're the only one that thought thomas could've been an allstar.
He needed steve nash chris paul jkidd lobs fastbreaks easy 15 8 an 2 blocks
@@kevinrobertson8881 not allstar material buddy.
@@kevinrobertson8881 I actually liked dude but I just dont see it I always thought he would be solid.
Tyrus's playing style reminds me of javonte green
Do Kenyon Martin
