Having grown up during his playing days, I see another stunt for Mark Aguirre(minor but in my opinion, significant)...Even though he may have been a "problem" on the court with his "attitude" (though they used to merely tag you as an "enforcer" during that time), he was over-shadowed on that DAL team. They weren't necessarily All-NBA players but Rolondo Blackmon & Derek Harper were the squeeky-clean images DAL wanted as the face of that squad during that time. That backcourt was pretty good, but even during the LAL Showtime era, Harper & Blackmon were on the cover of Sports Illustrated with a banner that said they were the beat backcourt in the league! By the time he went to DET, he was already seen as past his prime since he was coming off the bench and deferring to Isaiah/other stars on the team...But when all is said and done, like you said, he was brought in for what he could do (GET BUCKETS) and he did that. The rest of his stat-line wasn't that great outside of scoring but given his talent, he definitely should be in the HOF...Great video brotha!
He kinda reminds me of Day Day from Flint (Draymond Green #23). Tough as nails, skilled, take no shit from nobody type of player whose stat line may or may not reflect what a casual fan looks for in HOF’er depending on the situation. Politics has kept Aguirre out of Springfield, but that may change in the future. If Grant Hill made it in then anything is possible lol.
Yup, the man has all you need to make the Naismith as it stands and no off-court shenanigans to blot his record. The complaints about his attitude can be made about others; I recall when Dallas traded him away and they thought they were going to be 'so much better without him'. Fell from 4th to 9th that year and found that Aguirre carried a huge load, it was easy playing for Dallas when Mark took all the heat. When he was gone Blackman and the rest had to answer the tough questions and take the blame, and they wilted. Even in Dallas he sacrificed scoring to play more D, rebound, pass. They didn't lose a series because he was bad. Blackman, Harper et al found out someone had to be the GOAT on the team and be the face of the team, they couldn't do it.
What I always found wild was that Detroit team had the #1 and #2 overall picks from the 1981 NBA Draft on that team. And was a rare instance where one of the other, or both, weren’t busts. I’m 39 and the Bad Boy Pistons were the first championship teams I got to see. My dad never has cared about sports. Most guys remember games from being five, six years old. I was nine, ten before I really got into things. Anyway the Pistons are always skipped over it seems. And those two seasons (1989, 1990) were as dominant as you’ll find ever in the history of the association. Especially the way they bitch slapped the Showtime Lakers, prime Showtime Lakers (barely falling in seven the year prior) then run down the Blazers in 1990 like that..... They’re just so hated that even thirty years later they’re getting blacklisted.

He was a high flyer at Westinghouse and DePaul back in the day, even at that heavy weight. Lost to Larry Bird in the 1979 Final 4 game for 3rd place as a freshman at DePaul. This set the stage for the Magic vs Bird championship game beginning their rivalry.
Wrong, first Alex was an 8x all star 3x 2nd team all nba 1 scoring title and avg'd 25 ppg. Mark made 3 all star games and no all nba no scoring titles 20ppg. @ 9:24 That’s what I loved about the 80s and early 90s: most athletes weren’t afraid to try to rap-because rap was pretty much “mucho macho” back then.
Aguirre was one of the best players in the NBA, he would put on a clinic on how to score in the post but he also had a mid-range game and three point range. Aguirre was also an underrated passer and rebounder. There should be no doubt that he is a Hall of famer.
This is a super interesting one to me. In his prime, he was actually regarded as being overrated because he put up big scoring numbers and nothing else. Plus he had a reputation for having a sour attitude and poor conditioning, getting the nickname Doughboy. From his Dallas days, both Rolando Blackmon and Derek Harper were seen above him in the leadership pecking order, and to a degree Brad Davis as well who was a team original. When he went to Detroit he often patted himself on the back publicly, talking about how he sacrificed more than anyone to win those titles. His only real friend was Isiah Thomas who nobody outside of Magic Johnson liked either. And when Detroit wouldn't extend him in the early 90s he sulked and his efficiency went off a cliff. The HOF is a popularity contest in a lot of ways and I just think people don't like the dude very much.
My own Mark A. experience. Him, Magic, Isaiah and our hometown hero Herb Williams were BEST FRIENDS. Herb had a popular camp here in Columbus, Ohio that I attended regularly as a kid. All the stars came through and Mark was one. During his lecture, a kid wasn't sitting up properly and listening. Out of the blue, Mark blasted him in the side of the head with a basketball. Mark threw the ball again and made the kid throw it back PROPERLY. The kid threw a bad pass back and Mark threw it again and said "Now throw it right!!". The kid threw it CORRECTLY. Then Mark said...."I'll bet you'll pay attention now, won't you??". Needless to say......we all were bright eyed and bushy tailed at that point. 🤣🤣🤣
Mark Aguirre being able to turnaround a loser franchise to a wining franchise and being able to stay with them for 8 years shows loyalty. He is a NBA Hall of Famer in my book.
Also, I saw him play a game after he'd been retired a year or so, some ex-NBA players fort charity; Aguirre played the wholegame, at center against a 7-footer, scored 36, and dog tired at the end he drained 2 3 pointers with 3 guys on him to win it. Man could he shoot! What a player!
Consider a story on 1999 National Player of the year LAVELL BLANCHARD, and how basketball sanctions at Michigan, as well as school selection [staying local like Aguirre vs. going to DUKE and UNC which offered him] are likely growth-stunnas.

I had no idea he wasn't in the hof. I can think of about 50 guys that couldn't sniff his jock that are in. The hofin every league is just a popularity contest.
This has become my favorite channel on UA-cam being that I used to hoop and played with and against guys in the league for example Sam Cassell and I were teammates back at Oliver rec center when BNBL was popular Baltimore Neighborhood Basketball League. I grew up watching the best high school basketball ever assembled right in my city The Dunbar Poets and later use to play pick up games with and against David Wingate Reggie Williams Mike Brown Muggsy Bogues And Reggie Lewis and even had a brother who had a stunted growth My brother Kelly Williamson was in the top 50 high school players back in the early 80 and he gave Duane Ferrell work when Duane was the Top junior in the country and played for the number one powerhouse Calvert Hall and my brother played for Mt St Joe and then he transferred to Calvert Hall and they played together alongside another former NBA PLAYER Kurt Lee. So hopefully I can send you the names of some guys that had stunted growth for sure.
IDK if I can rock with you on this one, and I'm a Pistons fan from the bad boy era lol. He was definitely the piece that put us over the top, but I feel like it takes more than scoring alone to get in the hall (there are also people in the HOF I disagree with btw).
DePauk was powerhouse at the time he was recruited under Ray Meyer. They owned Chicago in the 70's , so you are talking nowadays when you pumped up him taking DePaul to tourney. He had Terry Cummings on his team for christ sake
he was da real deal playing during da real deal time,,,,, not like it is now where you can look at a person and get a foul today. he was tough,,, im surprised he don't get talk today, about his time in da NBA
As a kid playing basketball in MI during the Bad Boys era I loved him for 2 very HOF worthy reasons: 1. Just had to look at the back of his basketball card and see that he took LA to 7 games in the WCF in 87-88 with 25 PPG then IN HIS PRIME drops to 15 PPG the next year on the Pistons--knowing he'll no longer be an All-Star or make the same money--as a sacrifice to win championships. It was kind of awe inspiring and truly unique. 2. It was invaluable having a guy that when the offense wasn't clicking you could just drop it to him in the post several times and let him go to work to get the team back on track. That's an underrated quality the HOF is likely overlooking because they didn't watch 100+ Pistons games like me and see it so many times.
I still politely ask you to do Scottie Thurman . He was a baller his Freshman at Arkansas after that he fizzled . Another is Miles Simon . Salute keep up the great work .
Mark did something that AD wasn't willing to do, which was come off of the bench in favor of a rising Dennis Rodman. He, Isiah, and Magic were the 3 Amigos.

@@kevinthomas7526 Dude was huge and agile with a tremendous upside. Imagine him being the 3rd piece needed to triangulate Stockton and Malone? Definitely one of the biggest ‘what-if’s’ in NBA history.
The attitude/rough housing argument don’t fly and disappeared for all NBA players the moment Dennis Rodman, one of my favorite players, was enshrined in the HOF. Rodman made Vernon Maxwell & Maurice Lucas look like Mother Teresa.
Something you said was inaccurate and that was Isiah choked his coach out of anger. His coach told him to do that in the video you have. His assistant coach told him to do that after Bill Caughtright elbowed and busted him in the forehead. Not saying Zeke was a saint but that’s what happened.
All I see is a true hooper just like Bias , just so cold and it look so easy to them , the Finesse and smoothness was real and just they were beast by nature just knew what they were doing
Zeke actually got hit in the face and started bleeding without getting a call. He wanted to fight but it was a huge game for the Pistons so the coach told him to take that anger out on him. So Zeke “chocked him Zeke didn’t do that because he was mad at the coach. The Zeke disrespect gotta stop man. He’s one of the realest players we ever had in this league. There’s not many players that has more heart than him. There’s a reason why AI looked up to Zeke
I’m glad you pointed that out. People act like historians and don’t point out facts like this. I was going state the same thing until I read your comment. Salute to you.
Still have the 30 for 30 bad boys on my dvr to this day and I think after the bad boys break up and Chuck Daly leaving that’s what also stunted Mark Aguirre’s growth..
I’ve been binging your vids. Great job! Can you make a video on Jiri Welsch or Raef Lafrentz if possible. Not sure if you’ve already made those. As a Celtics and Kansas fan both of those guys were supposed to be great and didn’t turn out.

Westinghouse hs in da chi was the shit cuz of him!!
Mark Aguirre "The Scoring Machine" HOF 💯
LEGEND!!!!🏀💯💪🏿✊🏿👍🏿👏🏿
My dad would make me sit and watch his game. He had a tough smart ole skool game. Loved it!!!
great video... i agree let the man in
Mad Props JC.
Consider doing Danny Granger, Yi Jianlian, Gerald Wallace, and Flip Murray in future episodes. Peace to you bro!
He is another one that got his two rings through prime Jordan and the Bulls!
#Legendary
Good stuff my brother!
I couldn't agree more stunt...great video
he was da real deal playing during da real deal time,,,,, not like it is now where you can look at a person and get a foul today. he was tough,,, im surprised he don't get talk today, about his time in da NBA
Dallas had a good trio. Aguirre, Blackman, & Harper
Great upload
I still politely ask you to do Scottie Thurman . He was a baller his Freshman at Arkansas after that he fizzled . Another is Miles Simon . Salute keep up the great work .
Scottie Thurmond hit the best 3 in college history
Great content. You're TEACHING! A calling, no doubt! PEACE!
Mark did something that AD wasn't willing to do, which was come off of the bench in favor of a rising Dennis Rodman. He, Isiah, and Magic were the 3 Amigos.
They have weekend warrior level hoopers in the hall of fame lol the whole thing needs to be reconstructed
I always enjoyed all the Detroit/New York series when he played for Detroit. They were so intense and so much fun to watch.
Can you do Luther Wright from Seton Hall/Utah Jazz???
Sad. Had size n mobility 7-2 3bills+ to hang w Shaq.( both from jersey) Thought he n Shaq would’ve been 90s era wilt v bill. He still managed to get paid from the Jazz ($153k a yr For 25 yrs ‘94- 2019 but cracked it up. He’s good now. He’s married, n goes about ministering.
How about a story on Mark Makon, former Temple star, and #1 draft pick for the Nuggets.
I was thinking this same thing last week watching his channel lol
I loved Mark Macon
Do one on the Roy tarpley

I don’t know how mark aguire is not in the hall of fame where a lot of players should be put in hall shame for not playing up to their potential
That's a shame really, awesome player, a beast, recognized by his peers,

Something you said was inaccurate and that was Isiah choked his coach out of anger. His coach told him to do that in the video you have. His assistant coach told him to do that after Bill Caughtright elbowed and busted him in the forehead. Not saying Zeke was a saint but that’s what happened.
His coach and assistant coach told him to do what? Choke him? What exactly, please explain. Thank you.
Do a video on Pete Maravich. Love the vids
My favorite Channel 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
I totally agree with you, he should be in the basketball Hall of Fame
I’m back once again with the Pervis Ellison request. Eventually you’ll see this, S.G.

Mark was cold in high school, college and pro. Put him in the Hall of Fame. Thanks for taking care of Chicago with your basketball team.
Mark Aguirre's accomplishments in the NBA must be acknowledged. He is tough and talented.
I was 15 years old when Mark Aguirre played with the Dallas Mavericks and Derek Harper. That dude was ice cold!
Great duo. Rolando Blackman was the best shooter in the Western Conference however
He’s not HOF because he’s not a member of the “Brotherhood”. It’s deeper than sports. He’s better off though.
I agree Bro
Enjoy your series, Brother! You have to do a Stunted Growth on John Drew!
I’ve been binging your vids. Great job! Can you make a video on Jiri Welsch or Raef Lafrentz if possible. Not sure if you’ve already made those. As a Celtics and Kansas fan both of those guys were supposed to be great and didn’t turn out.
Jiri Welch was a pretty good player for a while
Sup bro noti squad not that I care but 1st I believe
