Hope you're well. Great video as always. I have the exact same experience with Avon. Some of them smell pretty good and others are downright ghastly. My mother has been wearing Imari since the 90s, I like it on her, but on me it smells scratchy and metallic. Bird of Paradise is a bomb of aldehydes that smells like dish soap. Timeless is probably the best one I've tested yet and vintage bottles are very cheap online. Far Away & Rare Gold smell pleasant and last well. I enjoy Pure Poison, but not enough to pay retail for it. I'll have to test out Rare Pearls.
Hi there! Thanks, I hope you’re doing well too. Thanks for sharing. I’m glad I’m not the only one who finds Avon scents so polarising. I haven’t tried Imari but I love Rare Gold. I love smelling Far Away out of the bottle and in the air but it doesn't work with my skin chemistry at all.😕 You’re right! Timeless is a forgotten gem. Unfortunately, it has been discontinued here in Europe. I’m looking for a reasonably priced bottle on eBay. Thanks for watching!🙂
I fell in love with Rare Pearls back when it was released. My mother bought it and I always tried her perfumes. I fell in love with it and she was nice enough to gift it to me on the spot. Even now, two decades later, to me it DOES smell expensive and luxurious.
Lolita Lempicka is very unusual. I get violet sweets with liquoice and powder. My bottle is the OG with the fiddly stem sprayer. I remember the Avon 'Rare' scents. I collected them all and while Gold was the most popular one, I preferred Pearls, definitely noting the similarity with Pure Poison. Interestingly the original bottle looked more 'dupe' with the pearlised colour. I can totally understand the massive popularity of Coco Mademoiselle but I definitely prefer the original Coco, one of my favourites of all time.
I also love Lancôme Hypnose. You don’t hear it mentioned much. But it’s so unique. And Coco Mademoiselle is my favorite overall perfume. It has nostalgia for me because I first bought it when I was finally earning good money after college and a new job. Oddly, it reminds me of tea - I’m sure it’s some combination of the citrus/jasmine/patchouli that gives that effect to my nose. I just bought a 6.8 oz edp of it because this is a forever perfume for me. And I don’t think the Club de Nuit dupe smells enough like it. Oud Bouquet is a beast! But beautiful. I love a lot of the Lancôme perfumes. I have to confess to being a fan of LVEB as well.
Hyonose is such an underrated scent. I used it up; need to get another one. I find it so interesting that CM reminds you of tea; I think you have a point. As you said, for some perfumes, dupes just won’t do it and you need the real thing. I’m the same with Hypnotic Poison. I tried three dupes and nothing comes close. Thanks for watching!🙂
@@lukeparfums I assume that you are in Europe? I don’t know if you have access to DUA fragrances, but they have a dupe of Hypnotic Poison called Hypnotizing Venom. It’s said to smell like the original formulation of Hypnotic Poison. I bought it and love it, but I never smelled the original Hypnotic Poison, so I can’t say. But it might be one to consider.
I’m in Europe, yes. I’ve heard great things about Dua. Sarah Mayes just recently did a video on Dua. I’d love to test some of their fragrances. Thanks for recommending!. Now I’m really curious about Hypnotising Venom.
I remember a friend loved Lolita Lempicka back in the 90s, but I always found it too sweet for my liking. I love Coco Mademoiselle, but unfortunately it doesn’t last long on me
Hi there, good choice! Shaghaf is a great alternative, I think it’s even stronger. I don’t own it because it would be redundant since I already own Oud Bouquet. Thanks for watching.
Ohhh Luke... I do adore your videos.... One of my Avon's fragrances is Rare Gold... Done by Olivier Cresp and is a beautiful yellow flowers mostly tiare flower similar to Intense Tiare by Montale or Lancome Poeme... Send you lots of love and blessings ❤
Hi there, thank you, that means a lot to me.😊 I talked about Rare Gold in one of my videos and it’s a beautiful 90s style floral. So affordable but so strong and elegant. Rare Pearls is an entirely different scent though.
I had Lancome Hypnose at one time and loved it but would love to find it again and I have Chanel Mademoiselle as well as Rare Pearls I adore them both. I must say that fragrances are my weakness and the best are from France.
Hi Luke🎉 I love Coco Madamoiselle, but I’ve recently discovered that I REALLY LOVE Coco!😊 Out of the fragrances you mentioned I only own Hypnose. I bought it previously loved, and also have the oil version. Wonderful fragrance! When I was 18, I wore Avon Unforgettable for a brief time. My favorite Avon will always be Timeless. It’s still available on Amazon. I have L’Interdit Rouge and Intense, but not the OG. Same with Black Opium. I have Le Parfum. I still love the original Opium….always will. 😂 I recently purchased Estée Lauder Cinnabar. I was the proud owner of a head-cold by the time it arrived, and can’t smell it….at ALL!😢😭 I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!💛
Hi there, I’d pick Coco over CM anytime. I’m still looking for Timeless since you recommended it to me the other day. I also own L’Interdit Rouge, prefer it to the o.g. I tried BO Le Parfum at the airport; it’s gorgeous. I don’t like the original though. Which version of Cinnabar did you get? For quite some time I’ve been looking for an older bottle of Cinnabar because the new one (rectangular bottle) smells nothing like I remember but no luck as of yet. You too😊 I hope you recover from the cold soon.
@@lukeparfums I looked on eBay. Evidently Cinnabar was originally called Soft Youth Dew. Did you know that? I didn’t know that and I’m not positive that it’s true, but that’s how it was listed.
@@leahmiranda8359 No, I didn’t know that. Interesting. I have Youth Dew. I tried Cinnabar in the hexagonal bottle (pre-2015) and loved it. When I tried the new one a year ago, I couldn’t recognise the scent so I never ordered a full bottle. Maybe it’s just me.
@@lukeparfums I have Youth Dew. I first wore it in my early twenties. I wore the bath oil as fragrance. I was a hairdresser in my youth, and a customer always wore it. I would practically faint with happiness when she came in. Recently bought the parfum and bath oil again…..🤭
So, I am not crazy about any of these, except for Lolita L. Is it supposed to smell like apples b/c I don't get any apples from it except that the old bottle looked like one?
I don’t smell any apple. I think they were going for the forbidden fruit aesthetic but make it fantastical and whimsical. The main note in the new version is cherry🍒 to my nose but also lots of iris, vanilla. It’s a lovely scent but pretty sweet.
Rare pearls - I find it very pleasing. Mademoiselle is my all time favourite😉
Thanks for watching. 😀

Rare Pearls really does smell more expensive than your average Avon perfume. It really reminds me of Pure Poison. Thanks for commenting. 🙂

That’s exactly what LL smells like. I like both Gold and Pearls but I think I prefer Gold. Thanks for watching. 🙂✨
I’ll have to try rare pearls. I love anything with a jasmine note.
