I almost joined the military. I decided against it out of fears of something like this happening. I’m thankful my desperation to get out of poverty didn’t led me to my death.
I wanted to join the Navy and was on a military mailing list. I saw an email one day that said that soldiers on a ship had a "rape list". After that, I was like, "nope".

My brother lives near Fort Hood. He and his girlfriend are currently saving up to get out of there. They hate it there, but it's cheap to live there, so they are staying in the meantime. My brother likes Texas, but not that part of Texas.
I remember hearing from a book that a former Army SF guy who became a journalist, basically wrote about a case of a guy who was being sexually molested and even raped a few times within the army by his superior. He along with the rest of his team were all falling victim to the guy. The team tried many times to report it to people higher up in the command, but it all got buried and the rapist stayed with them unpunished. A new officer came in and was also told about what was going on, and he also did his best to try and get it all reported and have the issue addressed. Nothing much happened because the rapist was protected by someone in very high command. The real story was written probably in an article but was also mentioned in the biography of Jack Murphy, a former Army Ranger and Special Forces operator and current podcast host of, The Team House, and current journalist for a couple of military news sites.

I figure if my soul is corrupted in the first two years then imagine what happens to other people. The military is a meat grinder for your soul. Combat or not, you WILL NOT be the same after serving.
Too bad that the prospect guy to be the head of the pentagon its another bad apple in the military and I have no doubt he behaved like those who rape and hid their acts. So now with their agenda of making the military more manly its sure more cases like this will happen.
And the sad part about it is that if you try to get stationed somewhere else. Fort hood will do literally everything they can to keep you from leaving it's literally like you are trapped there 😢
Unpopular opinion here people, but this is a fact. In my time in service I saw many female soldiers sleep with superior officers and NCOs to get ahead. Some of these officers were even married. As such, there is a learned behavior from male and female soldiers that sexual favors leads to promotion. The sexual harassment is a symptom of a much bigger problem of corruption. I've heard stories of actual call girl services on US bases and Army Posts from actual female soldiers and even wives of other deployed soldiers. This type of behavior is made to be a joke, the term Jodie is used a lot. But when an event like this occurs we are barely touching the tip of the iceberg. Punishments for actions like this from male and female soldiers and civilians needs to be suspended with actual jail time.
I’m so sorry for what happened to your sister. I can feel the pain cut deep with the intensity of the words you spoke. No one deserves to go through what she’d did and you and your family didn’t deserve to live this life without her. She was brave and courageous. For what it’s worth, I think she’s an honorable American as are the rest of your family. Idc if some members may not be citizens, you’re more American than some of the natural born Americans. But regardless of where people are from and their ethnic background, you’re human first. I just want you to know, I see you. May she rest in peace.
The military treats people of color poorly. There has been an active measure to trick most people of color into joining the reserves instead of active duty. You go through the same training, wear the same uniform, and get sent to fight during actual emergencies, but you get paid less and don't get anywhere near the same benefits as your white/active duty counterparts (who are just chilling in base most days and may even go through the whole war without firing their rifle). The promotional system is also extremely biased. You can be have superior job knowledge, better skills, and seniority, but they'll still promote the white guy/girl over you anyways. If you are one of the few people of color who make it into active duty, you will get treated horrendously because of the color of your skin. If you have a darker skin tone and are thinking of serving your country, be very, very careful about what you are actually signing up for.
Uhh.. completely false. You get paid full on drill days and during mobilization once you get Title 10 orders for deployments or volunteering for ADOS orders like drill sergeant you are considered an “active status” and receive full active duty pay and medical. Not to mention, you can volunteer for deployments outside of your state’s unit. In a lot of cases, the NG and Army Reserve are better depending on your livelihood. Regardless of skin color.

What is wrong with our military? If we allow women to serve, they should be free from SA and sexual harrasment. The greatest military on earth must do better in protecting female servicemembers. They deserve better!
To solve the problem, they'd need to first acknowledge the problem, and they won't do that because if they acknowledge the problem, they won't be seen as the "greatest military on earth" anymore.
Military aren’t wrong, the leadership is wrong or dei protected individuals are wrong.

Uhhhh America is worse than a lot of other countries.
When my husband joined in 2010 he was told that “rape” was an occupation hazard. He told me that things get swept under the rug and that the male to female ratio is such that multiple men follow one female. It’s scary out there for women and he encourages them not to enlist. It’s not worth it.
This is so disturbing 🙁
I almost joined the military. I decided against it out of fears of something like this happening.
I’m thankful my desperation to get out of poverty didn’t led me to my death.

My cousin, Dena (from Waco,Tx), was unalived by her soldier boyfriend in 2000 in Killeen, Tx.
The Army shipped him overseas before we could investigate!
They claimed it was a car crash. The car was fine!
She had a broken neck and appeared to have been strangled!!!!🤬
RIP! 😩
that’s unfortunate
I am sorry to hear that. Her story needs to be told across all platforms.
Any form of discrimination, sexual assault, adultery etc in the military should be taken seriously as you would in the civilian!
I think any cases like Venessa Guillen should not let the military handle it legally. It should be held mandatory from a third party lawyer because this is ridiculous.

Well I remember this story ever since that happened to her it made me wonder how many years have people in the military been doing this😮
I remember hearing from a book that a former Army SF guy who became a journalist, basically wrote about a case of a guy who was being sexually molested and even raped a few times within the army by his superior.
Same thing happens in all institutions, the higher ups know but will always covered things up.
Was this also the one where the dude was seen walking around base with a garage bag, and no one said a thing?
Never mind. I watched until the end.
With enemies like these who needs to look overseas 😮

One of my sisters wanted to enroll I. The marines but we have a cousin who has been in the navy for year’s already and he advise her not to because he found out women has been raped in the navy and nothing has been done so he said imagine the marines the system is most likely worst and specially what he has seen how women are being treated and because of his advice she didn’t went into the military. This is an extreme case that highlights the terrible leadership within our military. I consider myself a good person.
Beautiful American girl who just wanted to give her family a good life, may she rest in peace
You’re not invisible or anything other than a fellow human being who deserves respect and answers.

Then expect people to serve … that’s so sad
Somebody who was in the military told me the military treats everybody poorly.
@@MrJuvefrank I believe this. The military is not for the people, it was always against them and for the pockets of those in-charge.
What's this have to do with race or color of skin ?
Uhh.. completely false.
I was PCS to Hood while this was happening. There were even more cases like this almost every week. Either soldiers where missing or murdered. All I could think of is WTF is going on in Hood?
