Super nice love the detail. My kit came from type s so it has the side adapters for hoses on the block with the back seal adapter. Thanks for making this!!
Thnx Mane. Short and to the point
Dope video. I own a TSX with the K24A2, this is a definitely on my to do list with the oil pump upgrade. Thanks for the how to. Keep it up.
Glad the videos were helpful !
Thank you. I need this mod, the oil pump and 50 deg vtc gear upgrade on my 1989 CRX K24A2.
I have a 90 crx I’m currently putting a K24A2 so it’s nice to see others have the same idea🤙🏻
@@functionoverform2935 Heck yeah, that's awesome! What stage are you on in your build?
very informational video! thanks man!
Glad it was helpful!
Very detailed and informative video.
Thanks Ken!
Great info! If you don't want to mess with swapping the water pump and housing though, I see no reason why you couldn't use the heater hoses, either by using T fittings or by plumbing the oil cooler inline with the heater core. Another option is to use the coolant lines for the throttle body. From what I see most performance guys disconnect this anyways, so you could adapt those to larger hoses to feed the oil cooler as well. However, since those hoses are smaller and don't flow as much coolant, the oil cooler may not perform quite as well, but still an option and way better than no cooler at all. Hope this helps someone
Avery Alexander Thanks! Yeah the heater hoses could be an option as well just would have to figure out some hoses that work !
@@DAVEMARINO Thanks! Do you happen to know if this oil cooler would fit a D17 block?
Avery Alexander I’m honestly unsure if it will fit. Knowing hondas it might work since so many things are interchangeable
@@DAVEMARINO Thanks. I'm thinking it will since the oil filter is the same size, my only concern is the connection for the coolant lines. The way one of them points back may be a bit of a problem though. If I can get one cheap enough I may give it a try though.
Great video!
I own a k24a4 block. And like you mentioned it’s closed by the coolant passage, so with that fitting you mentioned I don’t have to drill or tap?
Correct you should not need to tap or drill the block
Does the K24A2 alternator will still bolt onto the RSX Type S K20A2 housing passage?
Reason is I have 07 TSX K24A2 with Mechman high output alternator that is for my car. I don't want to change the alternator.
Oil coolers also come on the K20A Type R motors.
Yes you are correct
Didn't know Honda has its oil cooling system. How efficient is it compared to system with external radiator installed through sandwich adapter?
I would assume the aftermarket oil cooler with the external radiator would be more efficient because it’s getting direct air to cool it
What size nut goes on the oil port? I tried a vise grip pliers and it’s stuck
The part numbers are swapped pt2 is for the ones with the side port
Pk3 is with no side port
Dave what’s the socket size of the oil cooler bolt? Is it 30MM? Thanks
bhadz100 i dont remember the size off hand I can check next time I’m in my garage. Think it was 30 or32mm I’ll update you when I know
Do you get a perfomance advantage by swapping the k20a2 water pump?
The k20a2 water pump allows for you to run the OEM oil cooler to help keep your oil temps down. It wont gain you horse power per say but can keep your car cooler to maintain performance.
@@DAVEMARINO perfect for time attack racing
Almost boosted Yes! That’s the whole reason I installed it on my motor!
@@DAVEMARINO I need that baffle guard for the oil pump
Have you ever tested whether it's really worth it to purchase a Dooxi Car Adaptations?
Never heard of Dooxi car adaptations before
What is the correct cooler joint for k24a2? The video shows a Number And the description other
The Description is correct - K24a2 Block use #11107-PT2-000
@@DAVEMARINO fuuuck, I used the video and ordered the wrong one !!!
I lterally just got the wrong one. Wish i wouldve caught this.
which oil cooler joint for a jdm k24a ?
Im not sure haven't had one of those in my hands in a while. Compare to the k24a2 and see if its the same if not get the other one listed.
If I bought a k20a2 type S water pump it doesn’t come with a joint? Should buy it separate? Thanks
Ralp G Yes you can buy the joint that goes on the water pump from Honda. Shouldn’t be too expensive.
@@DAVEMARINO Nevermind. It's discontinued in Acura's parts catalog but same part number in Honda's catalog is still produced and available to order.
Do you happen to know the name of the joint or part #?
I ordered a K20A2 water pump housing assembly... housing, water pump, thermostat assembly, even the belt tensioner and pulley...water pump is missing the joint coming out of the pump going to the oil cooler.
I've checked Acura and Honda part catalogs but haven't been able to find it.
Is it cool if that hose lays on the filter?
It hasn’t been an issue for me at all in the years that this has been on my car.
Can I use the k20z3 water pump on the k24 ?
Im not sure if the water pumps are the same bolt pattern
Yes you can as long as you use the matching K20Z3 housing. The K20A2/Z1 and K20Z3 pumps are slightly different and therefore aren't interchangeable even though they look the same.
Could I just use a remote oil filter ???
Yes you can. This is just another OEM option that works.
Your doing a great job and showing us all. Although mines going in a Camry wagon
Which fitting for a jdm k24a?
I dont have acess to a JDM K24a right now. I guess i would take a look at the k24 you have and if the larger diameter hole is threaded use the one for the k24a1/a8 if its not threaded use the one for the k24. check the descirption for the part numbers.
