I hope you loaded up on the free cheese samples. You should also check out the Evergreen Air Museum in McMinnvile. It's only an hour and 20 minutes from Tillamook and it houses the Spruce Goose as well as numerous other aircraft. There's a separate building for rocketry and a third building which is an indoor waterpark. Very cool for the family.

I live in Hillsboro, Oregon and really enjoy spending time on the Oregon Coast. I need to go back to the air museum. It looks like they have added a bunch of new exhibits.

Yes, These buildings are VERY large, but if you get a chance, run down to Mountain View, California and Moffet Field (former Naval Air Station). They have two of these hangers, additionally have Hanger One, a former dirigible hanger. While the blimp (Type B Limp) hangers are big, the dirigible hanger is substantially larger! I have been inside both the museum building at Tillamook AND Hanger One and the difference is astounding. Hanger One is so large it actually can create unique weather INSIDE the building. That being said. if anyone has a chance to get out to the Tillamook Air Museum, by all means, go for it. You won't be dissapointed!

LP use to have a sawmill inside one of the hangers back in the 70's. Yes, there used to be 2 hangers but one burned down due to a hay fire. I have turned my chip truck around inside the hanger and didn't have to back up to do it, .

Thanks for the inspiration for my next road trip! I'm in Albany, this will make a great outing.
Have owned a Setpower portable cooler since 2020. and it's still running strong! I chose Setpower because their compressors are used in many of other leading brands.
Best of the Holiday Season to you!

Born and raised in Tillamook. My summer job was in the building next to Hangar B. I was in town the night Hangar A burned to the ground. That was the most awe inspiring fire you can imagine. Pieces of wood that were on fire were landing on the roof of the building I worked in that was a quarter mile from Hangar A. My boss spent several hours on the roof with a hose to keep the fire from spreading.
We used to sneak in and have parties in there when it was empty. They stored old train cars inside while renovating them which were kind of spooky, but a comfortable place to drink beer.
We had a couple baseball practices in there, too. Because of how much it rained in Tillamook, there was even some talk about the logistics of building an indoor baseball field.
It's one of those places you just take for granted when you grow up seeing it all the time. Now, the only time I see it is when I'm back in town for a funeral at the cemetery next to the hangar.
The largest building in the world claim is close. It's actually the largest wooden structure if I remember correctly.
Cool place to check out if you're driving the Oregon coast since it's only about a mile off Hwy 101.

I was wandering about where the Hangar A was. Then i noticed on the map that there was een hangar a road so it was obvious where that hangar used to be. Thanks for the tour. We have a ‘hangar’ too in NL Rotterdam only it is a markthal. It is not realy a hangar, it is more. In length a little smaller. Google De Markthal Rotterdam and hit pictures.

Ah, such memories. It is not the largest building in the world, it is probably the largest building in Oregon. I've made a number of trips there and it is always awe-inspiring to view. One word of criticism, some of the view were difficult to watch because you were sweeping too fast from one area to the next. I suspect that in some cases you had speeding up the replay in order to save time and I understand that. But the tiny miniature sets were just a blur.

Good morning 🌅, what amazing views of the coast, what amazing structure ashamed that is going to decay, hopefully they can raise funds to restore it, I’m available if required, 😂, . The museum looked amazing , I’m from the UK , and there is a hanger over there nowhere as big as what you have just been in but they have air balloons that sometimes are shown out in the region , The shop looked a bit cheesy., wouldn’t mind having a look round there, i’m sorry but I cannot contain 😂 myself to mention about your property. You are doing a splendid job.,
I wish you both all the success for the future , 💔 living in France,

Dairy enterprises provide a pound-for-pound, dollar-for-dollar nutritional bonanza. Please note that the Tillamook Smokehouse is located a few miles away from the flagship venue. Just as local produce is enhanced by the by-products, modern consumers prefer to avoid the realities food production.

Never knew this existed there. I have been through Hangar 1, 2 and 3 at Moffett Field in CA. I think before the restoration Hangar 1 was the largest freestanding volume building. Not sure how it's restoration has affected things now though as I think the inner volume was going to be reconfigured now that airships are no longer a thing really (not sure if the Goodyear blimp still comes around).
