I was waiting for before/after stills at the end because you never showed any room in it's entirety. If, for whatever reason, you don't want to show the whole room you could explain that to the audience, I'm sure. We would understand. But when you talk about the beautiful wood of the floor and then don't show it, it's quite frustrating.
If we got to see the updated living room, I missed it. All I seen was items in the living room such as the books, pictures on the wall, a view out the window, a green chair.
You are so good at making vignettes! I used to collect vintage and antique things, but was horrible at displaying them. I ended up getting rid of everything and becoming more minimalist. Seeing your house makes my heart swoon with happiness! I still love vintage! Beautiful home. Very cozy❤️
Thank you for showing what a farmhouse really looked/looks like. It reminds me very much of my grandparents old farmhouse. Seven generations of my family have lived in that house and no one ever painted the whole thing white inside and out. This new "farmhouse" decor style blows my mind. Your home is a more authentic farmhouse. Very much enjoyed seeing your home. I remember going down to the "ice room" to get ice chips to make homemade ice cream in a hand crank ice cream maker.
There is a trend in America to sterilize the whole house. Home after home decorated with mass produced 'country' decor. No imagination goes into that. Your house is beautiful and reflects all the things you love and have gathered over time, so pretty. We have the same taste, I love crusty old things too :) I love your fireplace and windows. A pretty fireplace is a sanity saver in winter, its hard to be sad and grouchy with a wood fire roaring away its my favorite thing about winter. Thanks for sharing your home!
Be still my ❤!! You have a warm and inviting home. I love everything about it. I actually just watched the video twice while I am taking my first break from early morning farm chores. My eyes and heart want to glaze and feast on every single, lovely, lovelies that you have lovingly furnished your home with. The walls and floors, the old painted doors and knobs, clawfoot bathtub, etc. have so much character and charm. Our home has similar style and I have filled ours with lovely old treasures passed on to us, and lovingly gathered from estate sales and garage sales we have scoured for many years now. I am so happy to see younger couples that appreciate and embrace this (Your individual) style of making a house a home.
Oh, this is my favorite kind of home!!! ❤️❤️❤️Everything is unique and interesting!! I'm definitely more drawn to this than I am to houses that scream "Hobby Lobby and Target!!" I love antiques and houses that tell a story!! I'm extremely jealous! Those baskets on the table! 😍 Thank you so much for sharing! I'm going to watch it again and again for inspiration!
Wow! Your home is filled with so much home goodness and the feeling of welcomeness. Love everything you two did and appreciate the sweat equity you have in restoring it back to it's original time. As I toured your home with you Schaye I felt like I was in a beautiful french cottage with much warmth. That feeling one has when they know they are welcome. Truly welcomed. I can imagine that when you entertain friends & family they leave with full tummies and full minds from the good conversations they've had from your home. You refer to your furnishings as crusty, which I never had heard before. What a treat it's been to tour your farmhouse/cottage. I too agree that our dining rooms, don't get the use out of them like they should. Thank you so much for this tour.
Hi shay well I have to say how blown away with this cottage tour I was. beautiful so beautiful.i too love crusty and old how nice of you to invite us in to this amazing loving home I just loved everything about it when I was growing up in Ireland your home so reminded me of the cottage we grew up in on the west coast of Ireland. and we grew and preserved food as well I adore your videos thank you so much.♥♥♥
Ummm, all it took was you talking about pulling up your carpet and painting the particle board...i paused the video, yanked the carpet up and painted the plywood. Been wanting to do that for years now but was too scared. Thanks for the courage...now to break the news to my hubby before he comes home from work LOL And now to finish watching your video 😉
Leigh T last year we pulled up carpet and we stained our subfloor (OSB) a dark stain and the put a few coats of waterproof poly. White paint on the floor wouldn’t work for me. 9 kids and a farm with a mess of animals ...I need dark floors 😂
Do not listen to anyone’s judgements or opinions! Your house is gorgeous (my dream decorating) and all your videos are shot so so beautifully!! I love your family and your videos ❤️❤️ thank you for bringing a little peace and sunshine Into this chaotic world.
As someone who grew up in Central Washington And has a growing interest in homesteading, it warms my heart to see it done in the area! You both are an inspiration and I can’t wait to see and learn more!!
I was brought up eating dinner at the dining room table. I carried on that tradition to my family. That is a time for families to reconnect after a long day.
Clearly a slice of Heaven here on Earth. What a lovely home for children to grow up in......so personal, loved and lived in. Just how a home should be. xxoo
I love, love, love your show! I work in, what can be, a high stress work environment. I began watching your show on my lunch break, and it helps me totally decompress. The music, the lighting, your calming voice all play a part in my beginning the second part of my day refreshed. Not to mention, I love the content. You have really motivated me to get out of my recliner on the weekends and get busy. Thank you!
Its so disappointing seeing how many people leave such negative comments. I loved the tour and was so inspired for several spaces in my own home! Thank you for this!
Beautiful! Exactly how I strive for my house to be. Lived in, beautifully mismatched, and comforting. I'm so glad I found your channel! I've been watching all your old videos and y'all are amazing! Thanks for all you do
Thank you! Finally another eclectic cozy soul! Minimalism is pretty but I find it doesn’t feel like home or cozy. I debated getting rid of so much and doing clean lines but after some thought I found I was drawn to color, not just grey, grey, grey, but lots of colors! I am very artistic and it’s been said if you stand still long enough I’ll paint you🤣 I love your home and would love to sit and drink coffee and chat homemaking❤️
Love your home. The kitchen is so beautiful. I think it has so much charm. Crazy about all your antiques and vintage accessories. You just can’t get the warm cozy style with the new and modern things . I would rather have a home that is different from what most people have today. I always shop antique stores for my things. So glad I found your videos. Have a wonderful day.
Loved the tour! Reminds me of going to visit my great-aunt Lillie when I was a child! I always loved drawing water from the well (only water source) and going into the root cellar with her to choose something for supper Thanks for stirring those memories ❤ Your home is beautiful and cozy!
My husband and I just remodeled our old house. It is newer and fresher and lovelier than ever before. I don’t feel the need to share or show it to anyone. Let whoever visits us experience our joy. You get to have that same joy. The posters who are insulting and unhappy make me sad. House joy gets to be seriously personal. You have fans. We love your life. I’ll deal with my new house with those I love. You will too. ❤️ BTW, I really want a root cellar.
So nice to see a hone that is personal. Too many homes today are just made to be kept perfectly clean and keep up with someone else's idea of cool. You will not win everyone over with your style but your greatest fans will love it. Be you!
Yes, you never showed us anything, didn’t seen any doors, or any floors, just pictures herbs, loads of pegs all your doing is talking about the rooms not showing in anything, what are the vents, where are the doors. Cannot watch any more because there’s nothing to see
You guys have a wonderful home. I love the fact you don't have many television in your home. Conversation is key to with parents and kids. I admire your live. Thank you for a tour of your beautiful family home ❤
We eat in the lounge room but our dining room has been repurposed. It's now my sewing room and I love it. I should add that hubby has a lower spinal disability and cannot sit on a dining chair but we do sit together as a family for dinner every day. Young visitors love it as they eat kneeling at our huge coffee table. Sadly our landlord put white carpet everywhere but I do have a huge rug on the loungeroom floor.
What a refreshing look at a theme of its own. It seems the home is more for living than worrying if it fits on the block. Thank you for this personal sharing of your life. May you continue your wholesome life.
I really wish instead of focusing on the person speaking the camera should have taken more of wide view video of the place. That would have shown more of the house and its layout. Nevertheless thank you for sharing your home.
Premiered Jun 6, 2019 Farmhouse Tour ~ observing your bookcase with the painting of the elderly gentleman with folded hands and his thoughtful moment , I am smiling because our grandfather had a similar painting and as a child I was always asking him about the spilled milk running off the table. My favorite question for my grandfather was " are you the man in our painting?"
I am envious of your young family and strength and energy to do all of it...…..You remind me of my sister Maureen whose home was build to look like your conversion.....
I absolutely love your cottage. So charming. And as much as I love all the charming things in it, my stress level goes out of the roof when I think about the maintenance of keeping all that dusted, wiped down and polishing the copper(which I love). I am not a very good housekeeper, I would have cobwebs hanging from everything and telling myself it is part of the look I am going for. lol Your place is wonderful and my hat is off to you caring for all of that.
I just LOVE the picture on your well that you can see at the 1:12 mark. It is a 19 century work by a French painter named Jean-Francois Millet. It is called "The Angelus" and that is a prayer that we in the Catholic Church have been saying since the 12th century ... at 6 am, at noon and at 6 pm. It started in the monasteries but was adopted by the universal Church, which is why in most cities throughout the entire world, you can hear the Church bells ringing at those hours at numerous Catholic Churches! So happy to see this picture in your beautiful home!!! LOVE this tour! Thank you!
What a beautiful, homey labor of love! I'm not really the type to be envious of what other people have....then I saw your gorgeous stove and that walk in fridge. So green right now!
Yay, I love it! It's truly beautiful, comfortable and inviting. Decorated to the full without being cluttered. Quirky is everywhere and your style shines. Thank you for a gorgeous tour of your amazing home Elliott family💙💙
Just lovely Shaye! So many elements that show it really is a home, not just a house! I'm truly loving that green wingback chair, and your little bits of tradition everywhere. I have that same Tasha Tudor book!
I just love your eye, and sense of style. You are the most "Old World European, American" I know. :) Stuart, I applaud all of your efforts, I know where the heavy work comes in! Hope you enjoyed your recent trip back to Fairhope! Such a beautiful and unique town! We're harvesting full speed and getting the "middle crops" in, back here in Alabama. Hope you have a bountiful harvest as well!
Very nice you made it very cozy. There's so many places you can curl up with a good book and read. I loved all the little knick knacks and older pictures. Then I would catch a glimpse into the gardens it has a feel of the Old English Cottages adding to it's charm. Well done
I love your style and I love seeing the Charlotte Mason book on homeschooling. I homeschooled in the 1980s-1990s and used a lot of Charlotte Mason's philosophy and ideas. My kids did very well in college. Keep up your good work. The dinning table always ends up as the homeschool hub. As an older woman (grandma to five) to a younger woman: you are creating a delightful home, marriage and family. Keep loving and living. I love your videos.
I just love your decorations! 😭 All the collective pieces. I can just imagine you finding them all one by one at yard sales and flea market. Each piece is one you loved for specific reasons. I know all this because that exactly me too! I am so thankful to find a farmhouse channel that incorporates color!
love it! So much character that you have carved back in to the house. I am closing on my great grandmother's house and 15 acre farm in July and started an Instagram. we live in se usa and I'm happy to say we have a root cellar, but it is no where as lovely as yours. You have inspired me to add some dry herbs and spruce it up a bit. the house was built in 1930 and I love the old character of it. We are planning on redoing the kitchen (it was last done in the 70's) and adding back in a black and copper elmirastoveworks stove and farm copper sink. You and parisiennefarm have inspired me on the copper. So pretty. We are also dialing back the clock. We are keeping all the character that is still in part of the house like the tongue and groove original ceilings, the French doors in 2 places in the house, all the glass knobs, and the 6 panel solid wood doors. I fell back in love with this house when we were cleaning it out once my great aunt passed away. If interested in seeing our progress on house and farm, feel free to follow us over at Instagram at semperfifarm
So fun seeing your home! Thank you for touring with us . It truly feels like stepping back in time, to see the aesthetic you have at your place. There's such a move toward minimalism right now, and while I feel more peaceful not buried in useless clutter, we also live and school and raise our kids in our home, and there's going to be that lived in feel... I can't minimize everything out of existence 😄 would have liked some more zoomed out shots of how your home was laid out, especially kitchen and walk in fridge, for practical purposes, FYI. But thank you again, you have a lovely and unique home!
I must say VERY well done my friend. The farm house cottage tour. I love your kitchen its the heart of the home they say .its my favourite place in our home & i love how you guys turned back time & you seem so proud of your home is so beautiful Thankyou for sharing enjoy 💙 your home .
Do not understand so many people demanding more b-roll. A home is very personal, to get a look through is a privilege. Just because you have a UA-cam channel doesn't mean you need to go through the recycling bin piece by piece haha. I love the whole feel of your home, it is warm and cosy rebellion to the minimalist, decluttering cult.
10:35 our house was built in the 1930s so I very much understand what you mean by "unAmerican" per these days. Small rooms, tinier closets. At first I found it very frustrating and wrestled with it. But then as we have started, and continued, our minimalist journey, it has quickly become one of my favorite features about the house. I am grateful that as I've downsized, the room does not lose coziness nor become echoey and vacuum-like. It's nice to have my little "time machine" that brings me back to a simpler way ^-^
I didn’t have a problem with what y’all say (the lack of good overall filming.) It seems the young man is doing the camera work and he captures a lot of nice shots. Also he’s proud of his precious wife and they are just terrific and perfect together. God bless you and your family. (Old guy from Arkansas)🇺🇸
I love your posts, especially the ones where you show before and after 's of your cottage! We just bought a split level, which was not what we were looking for. So now i find myself trying to create a more rustic version that would be a little more warm and inviting than the 70's vibe it has now! I get a lot of ideas from your cottage as starting points, One of the first things we want to do this spring is take the T-1-11 siding and put strips over the little gaps to create a board and batten look. I am working on a list of the things we would LIKE to do and from that figure out what we CAN DO! Thank you for sharing we look forward to more posts!
I had to stop at just a few moments into the video! A Charlotte Mason book 😮❤️❤️❤️ I’m so excited to see that book. We homeschool using CM style as well. No wonder you life is so beautiful! We are still working on to make our farmhouse beautiful.
Maybe hide a laundry shoot where ever just above the laundry room would be upstairs and hide it with an old picture or something, might be kind of nice. Kids will have more fun throwing it in there (equalling cleaner rooms and less work for you). I am glad you showed a lot of your collected treasures, however, i too would love maybe even a pan around the room when you all were done talking about it (floors to ceiling). Love the feel of your house!
For the kitchen floor, you could fill in the gaps with a filler or putty. Makes cleaning so much easier. We had a lovely old Dutch colonial that had the original floors that had been filled in and finished, so there were no splinters and cleaning was easy.
These comments are horrible!!! You didn't have to show us your house at all and they are being greedy wanting to see every corner! You have a right to some privacy and only show us what you want. Loved the tour, your house is beautiful
I feel like there needs to be a Part 2. I would have loved to see more of what you were mentioning such as the popcorn ceilings you covered, plank flooring, green cabinets, etc. Loved the narrative!!!
WOW, your home is absolutely gorgeous!!! All the little bits and bobs were so inspiring-especially in your kitchen-the coffee area was awesome! Thanks for sharing!
I think I got the feel of the place, which is quite a throw back from where you started and very charming. It was tricky to determine the overall room, more just snippets. I would have loved more long shots and side by side before and after's, like the still you did with the bathroom. Quite a transformation.
Hey all! Thanks for joining me on a tour of our little cottage. There is still a lot to be done and I can't wait to share it with you!

But when you talk about the beautiful wood of the floor and then don't show it, it's quite frustrating.
Dang ,this wasn't a tour. Got a good look at the Mrs. and lots of knickknacks. Would be fun to see the" rooms "of your pretty home.
I agree!
I wanted to see the ceiling she was talking about 😕
Yeah, I feel like all we saw was the Mrs.
I totally agree
Right? I was curious about that ceiling dang
If we got to see the updated living room, I missed it. All I seen was items in the living room such as the books, pictures on the wall, a view out the window, a green chair.
Exactly!
I love the way you talk so calm and just caring. This has always been my goal in life
Oh, this is my favorite kind of home!!! ❤️❤️❤️Everything is unique and interesting!! I'm definitely more drawn to this than I am to houses that scream "Hobby Lobby and Target!!"
I love antiques and houses that tell a story!! I'm extremely jealous! Those baskets on the table! 😍
Thank you so much for sharing!
Beautiful! I loved it- I hope you'll show us more of the wide shots of the floors and ceilings. Love what you are doing!
Thanks for the courage...now to break the news to my hubby before he comes home from work LOL
And now to finish watching your video 😉
Leigh T last year we pulled up carpet and we stained our subfloor (OSB) a dark stain and the put a few coats of waterproof poly. White paint on the floor wouldn’t work for me. 9 kids and a farm with a mess of animals ...I need dark floors 😂
Leigh T...it's Aug. 2020, how did your husband respond?
It is wonderful to see young people enjoying the beauty of the olden era. Your home is perfect
Old houses have a feeling of being so romantic. Love your home.
I was brought up eating dinner at the dining room table. I carried on that tradition to my family. That is a time for families to reconnect after a long day.
Clearly a slice of Heaven here on Earth. What a lovely home for children to grow up in......so personal, loved and lived in. Just how a home should be. xxoo
This is way too zoomed in. I was really interested in seeing the root cellar, but it was just you and close ups of jars.
It was all like that ,talking about floors and ceilings and they nevered showed anything, only a close up of her and some pictures on the wall.
Wild Free LivingThere was a tour of the root cellar awhile back.
Nancy Cowan of what, the jars😂😂
I am very artistic and it’s been said if you stand still long enough I’ll paint you🤣
I love your home and would love to sit and drink coffee and chat homemaking❤️
Thank you for taking all of us on the grand tour! Absolutely gorgeous, so inviting!
This is not hgtv this is someone’s Life! It amazes me how much you have done and do every day. I love your style. All the best with the next Season.
Loved the tour! Reminds me of going to visit my great-aunt Lillie when I was a child! I always loved drawing water from the well (only water source) and going into the root cellar with her to choose something for supper
Thanks for stirring those memories ❤
Your home is beautiful and cozy!
Agreed!
So nice to see a hone that is personal. Too many homes today are just made to be kept perfectly clean and keep up with someone else's idea of cool. You will not win everyone over with your style but your greatest fans will love it. Be you!
So sorry, but I quit watching the video because you were not showing anything you were talking about....just you talking! :)
I agree. Hardly saw anything. The video was seeing her talking.
Me too.
Yeah, like the dining room ceiling 😜
Yes, you never showed us anything, didn’t seen any doors, or any floors, just pictures herbs, loads of pegs all your doing is talking about the rooms not showing in anything, what are the vents, where are the doors. Cannot watch any more because there’s nothing to see
I find a lot of the videos like that, the garden tour, the root cellar, even the newer cooking or food prep videos, barely any shots of the food.
SO charming, cozy, and beautiful! It looks like a real home...personal and not overly styled. Thanks for sharing! 🌻🌻🌻
It all looks amazing and it tickles my heart to see how much you are loving the home you are creating . God bless !
Sooooo beautiful!! I love how you blended the two eras together. Totally jealous of the root cellar! Your house gave me inspiration for my 1925 home.
Would have liked to have seen more of the house
I just LOVE the picture on your well that you can see at the 1:12 mark. It is a 19 century work by a French painter named Jean-Francois Millet. It is called "The Angelus" and that is a prayer that we in the Catholic Church have been saying since the 12th century ... at 6 am, at noon and at 6 pm. It started in the monasteries but was adopted by the universal Church, which is why in most cities throughout the entire world, you can hear the Church bells ringing at those hours at numerous Catholic Churches! So happy to see this picture in your beautiful home!!! LOVE this tour! Thank you!
Stained wood creates warmth and I like that you refrained from painting evetything white. White is soooo yesterday. The bathroom is perfect!
What a beautiful, homey labor of love! I'm not really the type to be envious of what other people have....then I saw your gorgeous stove and that walk in fridge. So green right now!
I can’t see any of the rooms- need a wide angle lens! Love what you guys do and love following along!! Excited to see more :)
Yay, I love it! It's truly beautiful, comfortable and inviting. Decorated to the full without being cluttered. Quirky is everywhere and your style shines. Thank you for a gorgeous tour of your amazing home Elliott family💙💙
Wow! Such a amazing job you guys have done!! My favourite is the kitchen & your livingroom with the piano and the GORGEOUS Chandelier ❤❤❤❤
Love that you younger guys embraces the more simple life
Just lovely Shaye!
Well done
Beautiful job at making the old charm come back to life in your cottage! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for sharing your home with us.
Love all of it! Would love to see more of your wallk in fridge and how you built/created it.
I just love your decorations! 😭
All the collective pieces. I can just imagine you finding them all one by one at yard sales and flea market. Each piece is one you loved for specific reasons. I know all this because that exactly me too! I am so thankful to find a farmhouse channel that incorporates color!
For shame to tease so. Would be nice to see visually what you were describing verbally. Perhaps a remake will be forth coming.
Thanks for inviting us in to your lovely family home ❤❤❤
Our home town. Miss you Wenatchee , Columbia river and Ohme Gardens. And potato creek. Beautiful home!
I wish the whole country could live as you do.
Beautiful home ♡ I grew up in a house built in 1914,my parents passed away and I'm going to redo some things in it,I love your home
Extremely inspired , a warm and comfortable home.
love your old rustic home It definitely has Its charm thanks for giving us a tour
Just lovely. Thank you for walking us through your piece of heaven!
It's nice to have my little "time machine" that brings me back to a simpler way ^-^
Beautifully stylish and elegant. Lots of books and no technology...very cool.
I love the authenticity of the home. I really feel like I'm in a beautiful, loved, old home. Very well done 😍
Wow! Beautiful house and view! I hope you will show us your pantry and walk in fridge when it’s full. Thank you for the tour.
For the kitchen floor, you could fill in the gaps with a filler or putty. Makes cleaning so much easier. We had a lovely old Dutch colonial that had the original floors that had been filled in and finished, so there were no splinters and cleaning was easy.
Nice to know, we have an 1880's farmhouse with plank floors that I'd like to save..
All reminds me of the homes I grew up in...….so much more character! Good Job.
I agree with most of the posts... We can't wait to see it redo video and show the space
These comments are horrible!!! You didn't have to show us your house at all and they are being greedy wanting to see every corner! You have a right to some privacy and only show us what you want. Loved the tour, your house is beautiful
Beth Waller I don’t think anyone is being horrible. She wasn’t forced to do a home tour, she chose to share.
I agree Beth! Totally uncalled for.
