London actually gets half the rain of NYC and is annually on par with Melbourne, Rome or LA. It is however overcast a lot and the sun a mythical legend
That was the Tower Bridge - the London Bridge resides in Arizona. The buyer thought the Tower Bridge was the London Bridge when he purchased it and when they reconstructed it he was in for a disappointment. The Tower Bridge is iconic imagine selling that masterpiece? My hubby took a great picture of it. We ate dinner in a restaurant in that neighborhood. The HMS Britannia was docked there and the Queen Mother's celebration was going on. They had a beautiful fireworks display. It was amazing. I would say Yes 100% Yes London most certainly is worth it.
There was a very kind UK native who took the time to help our family try and pronounce it correctly. Glad we did him proud! Our kids loved all the street performers and of course the M&M shop there!
Most of Europe doesn't do kids meals per se, just smaller versions of ordinary meals. And you will nitice the kids are much less fussy, have great palettes and eat less junk. Sadly here in the UK we still do offer them. Afternoon tea is usually meant to fill the gap between lunch (12-2) abd dinner around 7pm
I took my children to a local cafe for lunch where you could choose from a salad buffet. My little ones chose what they wanted and we queued to pay. Another woman came in and started making a scene about them not catering for children, i.e chips and nuggets. My children just stood there staring which questioning looks on their faces, then asked me why she thought there was no food for children.
I've never been pushed to donate in the Museums! Don't forget that in Kensington, as well as the Natural History, and the Science Museum there is the V&A Victoria and Albert Museum the world's largest museum of arts, decorative arts and design. In addition there is the British Museum
We do agree about the donations! We just thought it was funny we donated online and not in person so the attendants at the front were just barely less cheery compared to others who donated in person. It was a wonderful experience and we are incredibly jealous that the UK has museums of that quality for FREE!!!
My children loved riding the top deck of a regular bus, under 11s are free, same with the Docklands railway, also took a river bus ride, seeing London from the river is very different, we climbed to the top of the Monument and walked the Victorian pedestrian tunnel under the river Thames to maritime Greenwich.
We visited recently. Son got married, beautiful park. Unfortunately 😅Crowded with tourists😅. Years ago we visited the original Lego land. Fantastic.our fav. Parks are Universal and Efteling.
Afternoon tea is a full meal, especially with top ups, have a light breakfast only, also it’s the Tower Bridge Experience, London Bridge is a completely different dull, 1960s concrete river bridge.
Yes, but it will cost you. Make sure your accommodation is not in the centre of the city. As for kids, London has a ton of parks to take them, including the Diana Memorial fountain in Kensington Gardens to play in. Natural History Museum has dinosaurs to see, and the Science Museum has entire kids exhibits, both are free. There is also London Zoo (not free). Go to Greenwich and stand on the meridian line with a foot in each hemisphere. If you want a beach trip, get the train to Southend or Brighton for a day trip. The London Eye or the Shard are worth doing but cost money - for free views of the city, go to Primrose Hill or Parliament Hill. And there might be special events on as well. Legoland Windsor is also within day trip distance as is Stonehenge if you get up early enough.
We actually got to do the Natural history Museum, The London Eye and Legoland Windsor. We loved each of those things and made some notes on your other suggestions for when we go back again! Appreciate it ;)
on the contrary I think it's probably better to stay as central as possible. Travel into London is expensive and adds at least an hour each way onto your day, whereas central London is quite walkable
1. You pronounced Leicester Sq perfectly 2. You need to miss half term which you referred to - all schools in England and Wales have a one week mid term break towards end October, in February and at end of May in each year
Glad we got the pronunciation right! That one was tricky lol and yea we want to visit the UK again in the next 12 months so thank you for the heads up on those other breaks. We will keep an eye out for them and plan accordingly next time we come!
Hi Guys, You mention London Bridge but show a picture of Tower Bridge. I suspect you went up Tower Bridge as you can't go up the concrete 1960's London Bridge. Afternoon tea is normally served between 2pm-5pm. So 3pm is about right. I don't eat before afternoon tea. You picked an expensive one. They range from £10 a head to £70 a head The dearer ones involve better quality items, sometimes more and extension tea options. Oh and they offer free refills the cheaper ones don't.
Yea we need to pay more attention to our editing / photos ;) But yea the afternoon tea was incredible and I would consider it again as we all loved it. But we definitely cannot have a full lunch again before it. Lesson learned!
Not sure I understand the bit about entire areas being "enclaves of foreign incomers" but I do agree there are better parts of a city than others no matter where you travel to! Being aware when travelling is almost a good thing ;)
I would think its a clear answer but there are a surprising amount of comments against visiting below this video; so that was a surprise. Obviously we loved London but guess it may not be for everyone ;)

Worth visiting? It is the best city in the world. It is HUGE and it has absolutely everything. Until the second World War it was the biggest city in the world.
Leicester Square is a pigeon covered tourist trap, I avoid it, M&M/Lego are expensive, crowded, corporate money taking places that you find all round the world.

The Natural History Museum is a significant part of London's claim to be the capital of the world, but to kids it's a dinosaur theme park! The Science Museum has a more educational ethos, so there's always a good interactive exhibition of some sort aimed at engaging kids. The V & A can sometimes be good for kids too, it was conceived as a cultural resource for commercial designers, but it also does exhibitions that are usually topical & can cover youth trends.
We are hoping to visit again in the next 12 months and will most likely try out the Science Museum for our kids then. The museums being free and as large as they are were incredible!
I guess we could've said fascinating or something else; but technically the museum was very neat, tidy and in good order so I guess it works as a literal meaning and slang as well ;)

Born and bred in London, and in all my 76 years have never had afternoon tea!😁
