It’s a shame Ryan that you feel the need to explain yourself to the ignorant few who don’t understand you or how UA-cam works
Keep up the good work on your success in Thailand.

Bloody hell, the person who commented on your lifestyle, must have a charmed life when you don't have to leave home to earn some money. Some people travel away every week to earn money for their family. For years too. Sometimes people have to. But in your case, you're home with your family most of the time. It's not like you're taking trips all the time. We understand real life. You do what you have to do and want to do.

I think it's good to have some short time away from the family occasionally. It can make you appreciate them even more when you go back (and them appreciate you too). Probably good for the kids as well just to get used to it and not become overly dependent. It would be different if you were gone for months on end. Maybe I'm wrong but I can't see it doing any harm

I appreciate your being secure enough to address whatever you want to address. Just banning and blocking seems week to me and I think seeing ourselves through the eyes of others can be beneficial. As for relationships, there is no magic formula, and besides, things change over time as well. We have been together for 26 years and our love continues to grow and evolve, even to this day.
Chiang Rai is my neck of the woods, so what are you going to be up to in our little corner of Thailand?

HI Ryan. You know I have been following your channels forever. Let me don my pre-retirement hat as a pychologist-psychotherapist for over 35 years here in Canada. I empathize with your thoughts regarding how some folks may see your glass as half empty and criticize things. I do not share their views at all. I think you're a level-headed humble man who is very family-oriented, proactive in so many ways and with a good sense of how your life is currently unfolding. If you lived up here in Canada with your family we would be good friends and share some experiences. Cheers.

I am more than glad to give up one or two bowls of soup and grilled cheese sandwiches that I normally purchase for lunch each day, or more importantly give up several tall glasses of beer or a round of small games of chance gambling at my local clubs to send a small amount to support both your channels each month. The sad truth is Ryan, is that there are some people who will only be there as long as you have something they need. We rarely lose friends, we just gradually figure out who our real ones are. I used to feel like my side of the story needed to be told to keep the facts right. Now, I don't care what people choose to believe. Just live life as the person you are. It's your life and family, not theirs 🙏

Like the laid back way you present and your honest representation of how you break down your monthly expenditure. Real Thailand shown through the eyes of someone with a lot of experience. I have been here 20 years now, house in Bangkok and house in Udon Thani. I agree with you in that Thailand is getting expensive. I have given up on a lot of youtubers as they seem to just be churning out videos everyday with uninteresting content. We have a farm in Khon Khaen too at Kao suan gwang so I love your content.

I like your approach to address this giving them the benefit or the doubt that they may not understand. I’d like to hope that also. I get anxiety from negative comments. But I have learnt over time my subscribers stick up for me. I’m. By no means a big UA-camr. But I have the chosen few that support me. I appreciate your honesty. Hiya Ryan, I really like your channels and have found them very interesting and informative as someone who fell in love with Thailand on my first visit years ago and had many good trips there since. I have one foot out of the Rat Race, escaping the Matrix as you put it 😂 I have took redundancy, and am one step closer to travelling around Thailand full time.
That's why I like your content with everyday life, Thai culture and various aspects of Thai life such as prices of land, food, travelling etc.
I must have watched about 20 videos and then you said something I did really laugh at - being from Horwich because I'm a Bolton lad too 😂 We have a certain simple charm and can fit in and get on anywhere with anyone - we are just simple Mill-folk lol
Keep up the good work, balls to the whingers who are probably just jealous, and say a big hi to Damo, all the family and the little superstar of the vlog, Spiderman Otis lol 😂 He seems such a happy little lad he always makes me laugh and I think looks just like his Mum!
I've never written any comment on UA-cam before and I'm not on social media but I wanted to say thanks for all the info, good job and look forward to watching more.

😆 my Thai wife of 21 years loves to be home in her garden. When you are in a good relationship with mutual goals - trust is awesome. We are visiting Thailand now- Khon Kaen area, I have holiday for 1 month- my wife and kids will stay another month- no worries. I know how good it is for the family- so I “ sacrifice “- miss them after 2-3 days. Never give a reason to distrust, head down , focused on family. My job allows me OT- work late and such, my wife has never once asked where I was. My family commitment has always been obvious and transparent. As you said everything is about the kids. Adults can be selfish. When I started a family I felt relief -life was no longer about “ me”. We are role models for our children.

@thenakedguru great explanation of the things you wanted to talk about, including the relationship between Damo and yourself and how it evolved over time. One thing that I have trouble understanding though, is how a relatively young couple don't sleep together at night, as you mentioned in another earlier vlog. Dude,
You have almost 70,000 subscribers over 2 channels.
You have 9,978,124 views across Life in Bamboo.
There are going to be detractors.
There are sad, lonely and jealous people who seem to thrive on dishing out callous negativity via their keyboards. You don't have to explain yourself to anyone, let alone those types with a propensity for negativity. I feel empathy for them and their outlook. I feel grateful for you and your channel.
I'm working on a way to get back to my wife and family in Thailand and let me tell you, when I am in my darkest moments, almost defeated and I can't see a way to get back, I put your videos on and it instantly revives me.
Focus on your supporters, not your detractors. Make the best videos you can for them and realise how many people you have inspired through this channel. Remember how many of those 9,978,124 views have taken positivity away from what you've made 🙏🏻

Hi Ryan, yes, as always I enjoyed your "rant". We, as human beings are all different and our relationship with others are different. Ok, so we have lifestyles that suit us and our families, it would be a boring old world if we were all the same. The older I get, the more tolerant I have become and realise that we are all on this planet for a reason. Your reason may not be mine and mine may not be the same as others, but, if we are true to ourselves and our beliefs and faith and aim to live in peace and harmony with others, the world will become a better place. I love both your channels Ryan, even though our beliefs may not be the same, our overall thoughts and aims coincide in so many ways. God bless you, Damo and the family, always.❤😊🙏

I imagined a scene from old days, where the Man goes out hunting, conquering, or spiritually working for months and years, and not a single person in the Clan would've said: "There ya go, he left her."
You gotta do what you gotta do, she got to do what she got to do, you together are raising a brilliant Clan, all is good!
Besides, show me one Really Functional Familia, where there isn't a need for personal space, even, not to mention the business side of things, and all of that.
But that is an experience, one should spend in union with another for at least 5 years, in order to really comprehend the Human Bondship.
    I salute you Chief.

I can't believe someone would think 2 people should live in each others pockets, especially in this day and age. I work away, always have, never done our family any harm, 22yrs and still love my wife and son whose 20yr old now. Looks like you've had some good rain, still waiting in kanchanaburi for them to start.

Great little vlog commenting on the comments you sometimes get. They clearly haven't watched all of your vlogs but are straight away showing their arsehole. Oops I meant vent their opinion. Oh well, done and dusted with now. Looking forward to the upcoming vlogs! Your family's Yin and Yang seem quite balanced. There's always Yin in Yang and vice versa.

I just want to say, having done expatriation two times, you are an amazing individual. You stuck through the party life and came out the other end a stronger and more sensible person. There isn't even a hint of the bitterness that most expats suffer from. And from what I can tell with you interacting with your neighbors, you are now completely part of the community.

The one constant from my decades long use of UA-cam, and the main reason I’ve always hesitated to start a channel… Moronic UA-cam comments! Great conversation, and those of us who know, know. You’re a super good dude and a better dad/husband. Much love
