    Great to see you now have power, feels like a total game changer, i had the same problem with the fuse holder and had to modify ours. That moment of connecting the battery for the first time, oh my life, scary and great both at the same time. Great work.

      Thanks Matt! Ah seems like a fairly common thing that I haven't come across before haha. Yes connecting it for the first time is scary even if you are 99.9% sure nothing will happen 😆
      Excited to get the rest running now!

    Wow 400ah Roamer, you put that in my van and the cost of my entire build would double in price.

    • @CasLaz
      @CasLaz  3 роки тому

      Yeah Lithium batteries are expensive 😥 but main brands are even more expensive and there is no way we could afford 400ah of that stuff haha. We save abit on not having to deal with gas etc as everything will be electric / diesel 👍

    Is locking good. I would ad some spacers under the cut off an then screw him to the wall . Otherwise cool bru

    Oh wow, the Victron Lynx Power In is an awful lot of money for some bits of metal in a plastic case.

    • @CasLaz

      Hey Rob, check out explorist.life UA-cam channel, he made a video on Lynx Power in vs DIY Busbars, it should give you a good overview of pros and cons as-well as a cost breakdown. Also the lynx power in is around £120 vs lynx distributor £200+

  • @peapod2083
    @peapod2083 2 роки тому

    Hey, thanks for the great content each week.
    I like the thought of proper segregation of + and - so bought the lynx distributor, which is the next model up.
    Unfortunately it needs the 48v fuses, which are 30 quid each and they don't have sizes smaller than 125 amp.
    Are you using the 32amp or 48amp fuses and what is the lowest rating you could find.
    Cheers

    • @CasLaz
      @CasLaz  2 роки тому +1

      Hey David ! Thanks for following along, hope our journey helps a bit!
      I thought the difference between the lynx distributor and power in was pretty much just the led lights + circuits to detect blown fuses? (and screws that I shown in the video)
      I think size wise they are exactly the same and they both should accept standard MEGA fuses?
      Smallest Fuse in our Lynx Power In will be the standard MEGA 32v 60A Fuses (for 12v distribution, mppt, orion)
      According to the manual you should only use higher then 32-36v fuses if your system is 48v (then it recommends 58v)
      As long as your system voltage isn't higher then the fuse voltage rating it should be all good !
      Hope this helps!
      Thanks!

    • @peapod2083
      @peapod2083 2 роки тому

      Yeah that pretty much sums up the differences. The distance between centres of tthe m8 bolts that would hold the fuses is 60mm. I cannot find anything online with that distance except the 48v fuses. I need two 60amp fuses, 100amp and 200amp and they only do the 200amp in 48v.
      Do you know what the centres are between holes on your fuses are

    • @CasLaz
      @CasLaz  2 роки тому +1

      @@peapod2083 Standard size for MEGA fuses is 50.8mm (bolts centers) I'd be very surprised if it was 60mm in the distributor?
      I'm looking at videos from Exploris.life and it looks like he is using the same fuses in the power in or the distributor ? p.m me a message on instagram and we can chat more and send pics etc. Thanks!

      @@CasLaz you have saved me from a real nightmare. I ordered a load of mega fuses (spares too) , but mistakenly ordered one size in a midi fuse….which got delivered before the rest of them today. I checked my Amazon history after your help and realised my mistake.
      One google search led me down the wrong path with the 48v fuses which were 30 quid each. I couldn’t find my tape measure, so used an old fabric tape measure which I incorrectly read to give 60 centres.
      I owe you a beer. Our Ducato gets delivered next year, so it should be finished-ish in time for some festivals. I’ll get you both a beer for the content and saving me a huge embarrassment :). I am already following you on instagram too.

    Could you wire two 12v fuse boxes to one distribution port on the power in

    • @CasLaz
      @CasLaz  2 роки тому +1

      Hmm I think the lugs would get too tight on top of each other. The lynx has 4 fused connections so if you need more then that you can get a mega midi fuse distribution block that you could branch off to multiple 12v fuse boxes.

  • @stevenalley494
    @stevenalley494 2 роки тому

    Hi Laz and Cas - which 12v fuse block have you used? I'm thinking of using a blue sea one for around £50 but there are other cheaper versions on ebay... Any advice?

      @CasLaz  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Rob! Ah thanks for the feedback, do you mean from around 12:30 onwards ? Shots were on tripod or pretty steady before that. Will try to keep things more steady in future videos. Thanks !

    • @DrRobNoble
      @DrRobNoble 3 роки тому

      @@CasLaz Yeah, that part was particularly bad, I had to shut my eyes. I don't get motion sick in vehicles usually but UA-cam videos can really set me off, and it takes ages for the nausea to disappear.
      I've noticed that some vloggers cut to a separate piece of video (keeping the original audio, for continuity) when they want to focus on something so you get a straight cut instead of a panning to and fro). It's the sort of thing you don't notice while watching unless you think about it, but it gives a more professional feel to it (in my uneducated opinion).
      Your content is great though, so keep up the good work 👍🏻
