He has that magical touch.
His attack and touch is just out of this world.
It doesn't matter if you come from rock, country, blues, jazz, metal, funk... Robben Ford is always the meeting point. Thanks Robben for your music!
Robben is an incredible improviser. One of my favorite guitar players. Thanks for the inspiration.
This musician sounds so fantastic and that guitar actually sounds like A GUITAR 🎸!!

Josh Smith, Kirk Fletcher, and Robben Ford all in one week! Wow! Truefire is on fire!
Sincerely one of the finest guitar players of all time. I was following Robben since his Yellow Jackets project
Had the pleasure of meeting Robben at Ronnie Scott’s last month at a Yellowjackets set.
I could watch this all day long and not get tired.👍👍
He feels what he plays he plays what he feels
Hé is what he plays and he plays what he IS
Love that Les Paul!!!
Robben Ford is just a great Master. Brilliant.....sound... thanks man....
My very favorite guitarist for the last 40 + years.... Beautiful brilliance
Mr. Ford is not in Rolling Stone’s 250 best guitarists list. My other idol, Peter Green, is at 63, or thereabouts.
Hanging way off the back of the beat. Sometimes you think he missed it and then there it is - that little snatched jazzy chord. Genius.
everytime i listen to Robben Ford play i get a little better at playing from just hearing the guy.
After 40 years of playing...quite decently I might say...it just reminds me of how far I have to go still...and how there will just not be enough years...but life is the journey, right? This makes the journey better.
What a great comment!
Is true
100% right. He's a chosen one...the great Zen-Master of music.
Yeah, he's great at encouraging us even though some of have been playing for ages. Learned a hell of a lot from him
Robben has this endless vocabulary of notes and phrases, lines, etc. He is without a doubt the best sounding guitar player of all of them.
@@mraknz let me rephrase that and say I like his approach and style more. Those players are all great.
Robben Ford. Definitely one of the Greats of All Time 🤗🎸
Robben Ford grooves heavy, and he doesn't waist notes, every note hits you where it needs to.
Robben is so down to earth. I have seen him live once, and his feel is unmatched. I got a chance to talk with him for a while, and he's just such a real person. He said it, he brings the jazz chords to his Chicago blues gig.
Pure class, beautiful phrasings, killer tone! I've been following Mr Ford for about twenty years. Definitely one of my favorite musicians. Thanks for all the music, your the bomb
An original 50’s gold top with P-90’s - damn! Now that’s a dream guitar - not to mention Robben’s playing.
Some of the nicest comping I've ever heard. Truefire is such a powerful tool for learning from the worlds best playing. Just an awesome company and awesome guests!
Soo much respect: talent? Yeah, a lot of people have that... but Robben seems approachable, nice and thoughtful as he is talented, and THOSE things in combination and in seemingly equal measure is RARE, and makes me respect him immensely as not only a musician but equally importantly (at least to me) AS A HUMAN BEING.
Folks this guy is the best we will ever see in our lifetime. A true treasure for all us amateurs. I spent my life emulating EVH, SRV, John Mayer among many others but Robben is from another place musically . If you’re just starting out, PLEASE pay attention to him. Can’t go without mentioning Eric Johnson as well. Phenomenal. Jerry Reed, Danny Gatton and Roy Buchannon are pretty good too lol!!!!! If you’re young ( I’m 50) please go back and let these guys show you how it’s done, then the most important point is to develop YOUR own style. Stand out for goodness sake.
Ol Roy, my fav Tele player
DON’T FORGET JACK PEARSON……🎸
Mr. Ford is not in Rolling Stone’s best 250 guitarists list! Can you believe that ?😊
Robben is a monster player !!
Cool....It was a drum tech at American music in Tacoma that told me about Robben Ford....
Master teacher, is the only definition that fits Robben Ford
Thank you Robben for sharing this awesome Les Paul ,,,,the intro vamp sounded great as you usually do. Long time fan of blues guitar and your original songs. Love your videos on substitutions and alternative grips, I've learned a lot so far. Jam on.
Great job Robin....that vintage LP with the P-90’s is pure beauty
Remember watching the Ford brothers band at Barney Steele's in Redwood City in the early to mid 80s? Great blues....awesomely delivered. Thanks Robin!
I am more of a lead guy and even when he is playing rythm he is better at lead than me...
Love his blues style... it's like Jazz and blues at the same time. Usually when a Jazz guy does blues it is Jazz with blues overtone... this was actually Blues but with the sophistication of Jazz
Much appreciated, from Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
Robben Ford unique and unmistakable I will never get tired of listening to your music, thank you!!
Robben!! The living legend!!👍🙏
Great guitar player! Excellent Teacher! Pure artist! Greetings from Greece!
I got lucky this morning and put on Larry Carlton and this young feller tacking it up and wound up here an hour or two later. Good morning! Now I gotta get up and go get my guitar.
Thanks Robben & Truefire for sharing.
Robben, you've been so generous with you time with TrueFire, and now another course, looking forward
simply love robben!!
I just love it! Thanks Robben for your humble sharing! :)
Robben Ford, what an amazing talent, the guitar sounds amazing.
Robben's courses are inspirational!
Man what a flow and swagger. Pure class
Foarte bun chitarist solo si exceptional in armonie . Foloseste cu usurinta sentime majore, minore, diminuate ,e fascinant cu ce usurinta face acest lucru. Este un tip respectat de toti chitaristii de marca. Eu IL ascult cu mare placere.
50's gold top. Robben was a major influence on me and still is. I'm just now learning his pick palming technique. Lari Basilio was the one that pushed me to palm my pick but never took time to do so. I have wonky fingers.
Super.!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Just joined and very much appreciating Robben's talents.
What a wonderful session!!! And very happy to see Jeff McErlain's new album, Now, being plugged. An equally gifted artist with his own distinct voice.....
He’s got everything
He is a gem.
This guy just kills! Such an amazing player...
Wonderful! This is the master!!!
A true improviser I could listen to him just comp all day long
I've always played a game called: Stay In Key - where I will pick a key and play notes up and down the neck, not caring about making "statements" with the notes or playing licks - just playing notes and staying in key. I started doing that when I was 19 (played since I was 12) and I'm still doing at at the age of 64. Great way to warm up and I've created some new songs and riffs by doing that. And some of my "mistakes" wound up being some of my best compositions.
Thank you for this wonderful performance. Nice lesson!
Blues legend Mr Robben Ford!
Love your music! Thanks for sharing.
Simple but so elegant or classy.
Robben Ford is the truth.
Thanks Robben , very inspiring !
My fav.
what a honest man🎸🎼🎵
Such a class act.
Great video. I used to listen to Robbin with the Charles Ford Band back in 1972.
Robben's comping based on guide tones (3rd + 7th) of the chords and some drop 3 chords. he uses them in a very sophisticated way!
Best guitarist on the world ❤️🙏
Oh Robben 🥰
❤what a relic guitar ... catch my eye 😊
Wow Robben Fords Chord Revolution totally blew my mind really need to get back to the trufire series soon!
YES !
Amazing True Fire and Robben!! Congrats!! Love this!! I would love to see a True Fire with Steve Lukather and John Mayer!!! Keep rockin!!
National treasure.
Great to be here in Crestone, CO USA
From Tokyo. A great guitar lesson.
So sweet playing ♥♥♥
Robben God
This is amazing!
Awesome playing and Ukiah my pit stop on my way to Blue lake ... Humboldt county
Who is that boss man? Definitely running the show….
Thank you.
Beyond Sweet !!! I'm in
HELLO Greetings from Mexico Robben you are great
Awesome playing!
the best ever!
For the first time i've heard you play down in the Netherlands Awesome
Brilliant improvisation
Sounds fantastic man. Saw RF last year in Nashville with Jeff McErlain. They we're killin it!
I also thought he was primarily a bridge pup kind of guy? he seems to be doing most of his demonstrations with the neck pup. Sweet tone!
I can imagine Robin will say this in the video, but listening to the opening track it sounds like he’s a real, Grant Green fan. Everybody don’t sleep on Grant Greene he’s one of the greatest there ever was as well!
Cheers, Prost, Salut to Mr. Ford :)
Robben Ford is genial!!!!
Great!!!!
robben the master.
Better than Eric Johnson?
If you never studied another guitar player and only learnt from Robben... you’d be fantastic player! Robben is so knowledgeable and a wonderful teacher... oh and he’s alright at guitar!!! Thanks TruFire!!
KLASSE !!!
Genius!
Sooo great. Amazed by his light touch/attack. Anyone knows what pick he is using?
What a beautiful sounding guitar....Robben so good
i liked him best when he played nylon for rickie lee jones.
@@elkalabaw7665 His work with Tom Scott, and Joni Mitchell was not too shabby either
@@Deliquescentinsight yes indeed, that wailing guitar on miles of aisles was my first experience of him, almost forgot.
As a beginner guitar player who just turned fifty years old, I hope to make some progress before I'm dead, and most of Robin's playing is so far beyond my understanding and skill level that the best I can do is grab a few licks and pray that some day it will all make sense.
In the mean time thanks for sharing such great content.
Home Guitar Player don’t dismiss it just yet. It is all built on the simplest of blues. Start with the old guys and work your way to Robben from there. The blues is the common thread in all music. Find some beginner blues lessons on TrueFire and go from there. Learn some theory as well while you’re at it. It’ll begin to click sooner than you think!
Take your time and enjoy
@@Bamagolfandguitar cool, I'm doing just that.
Learn to play rhythm guitar solid and on time first.
@@eolden7749 Thank you
Jamar Jenkins... Me too about that Mickey Baker book. I was CRAZY about Mickey Baker back in the mid '70s. Then I went to that Joe Pass Chord book... awesome too. But Mickey changed my life!
I might have to check out these books.
Did you simply learn the chords on the first page where it has a whole bunch of them listed? This is all kind of new to me and I would like to know how to apply this book and basically just understand how to use the book.
