    As an old guy who’s listened to great guitar players going back to James Burton with Rick Nelson, it’s so great to listen to Robben Ford from his Jimmy Witherspoon days to his Jeff McErlain days and beyond. Far too many great musicians have frankly passed on because of age or substance issues. Robben has sure taken good care of himself and ,as a result, we get to hear what a mature virtuoso in full flight. The man is a genius.

    Robben, being my favorite guitarist I was surprised to hear “Pure” and didn’t get it at first but the more I gave it a chance it turns out that it is presently my favorite record! Surprisingly I listen to it while doing everything and anything. Walking, working out, relaxing, driving, etc! Hits my Soul peacefully! Jeff please relay this to Robben and tell him “Awesome Job” and thank you!

    Excellent interview, Jeff. Such a privilege to hear Robben talking about his music, approach, inspiration, how to create those sounds and even the psychology of being a musician. 'Pure' is a wonderful album. There certainly is a real joy in the music that comes across strongly. Thank you, both!

    Awesome interview thanks so much for this! does anyone know if Robben uses the Zendrive in the studio with the Dumble? I know that he likes to use it live. I was curious if that's the overdrive channel on the album or not. Thanks again for the interview, Jeff!

    I have a question, I don't know much about the music business but Pure is is on UA-cam and anyone can listen to it for free. Many of his other records are also available. Is UA-cam legally allowed to do this. Isn't Robben trying to sell these records?

    • @MrBluesmanJunior
      @MrBluesmanJunior 2 роки тому

      UA-cam is now like other streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.) - you either have a subscription (UA-cam Premium) or you watch content with ads. When an artist distributes music to streaming services, UA-cam is part of that - unless they purposefuly leave UA-cam out of the list.

    • @davidsheriff9274
      @davidsheriff9274 2 роки тому

      @@MrBluesmanJunior oh, I see,so when an artist has an entire record posted on UA-cam, the artist get money from UA-cam from their ads?

    • @MrBluesmanJunior
      @MrBluesmanJunior 2 роки тому

      @@davidsheriff9274 It’s a bit more complicated than that, but in a nutshell, yes. UA-cam has a content ID system that recognizes copyrighted music and diverts the ad revenue toward the copyright owner (which can either be the record label or the artist if they’re independent). So none of this is piracy, but truth be told, as Robben mentioned in the video, artists do earn very little or nothing from streaming services.

    • @davidsheriff9274
      @davidsheriff9274 2 роки тому

      @@MrBluesmanJunior so if Robben isn't making any money from the streaming services, can't he take his records off them?

    • @MrBluesmanJunior
      @MrBluesmanJunior 2 роки тому

      @@davidsheriff9274 I don’t know his particular case - but usually it’s the record label who owns the recordings (also makes most of the money from streaming/downloads/sales) and makes these decisions.
      It’s sadly not that simple. Even if both Robben and his label agreed not to upload his music to UA-cam, someone else would upload it to their channel. In the end, it might be better to get with the program and upload it on your own official channel, where you have more control over how it’s presented.
