Seeing this pop up is bittersweet. My 3ds and cartridge of MH4U was stolen last Saturday right after I beat Chaotic Gore Magala, when I was so close to unlocking everything. I had the game for almost a decade and there’s no way to get all that I achieved back, and with online shutting down soon I won’t even be able to get a hand to help me through it. But even then, I remember all the positive things that happened when I played this game. It got me in love with the series and that can never be taken away.
@@HeyJayOfficial one of the best ones was when I was grinding with strangers in high rank to get the complete Shagaru armour. When I finally finished it and equiped everything, I walking into the gathering hall and everyone else was lined up and using the clapping gesture. Completely random people I never saw again, but they celebrated my achievement with me. Ill never forget that.
I'm holding out hope that the hobbyists in the community will figure out a way to circumnavigate and restore online functionality using community hosted servers.
I feel like a broken record but again it's been an absolute honour watching your journey through the series, enjoy your break brother. I look forward to the GU streams.
@@HeyJayOfficialGU has so many unique features and is really great, but it’s incredibly bloated and an absolute beast of a game. 3U and 4U are my favourites and iv loved the journals, but for your own sake and the sake of actually enjoying the process, please please take a meaty break before starting GU. It’ll be best enjoyed after some time away from these games, especially following 4U. Looking forward to it!

Element damage explained: elements do a set amount of damage per hit and more damage to body parts. That is why element on faster hitting weapons make the weapon better for element than raw. I tend to prefer element weapons by that is just me. Dual Blades, SnS, I would argud IG, the rapid fire bow guns, etc, all fall better into the elemental weapon catagory. That does not mean there are not good raw weapons for each of those, but those weapons are best for element damage. (I bet World vets are having Alatreon flashbacks) Overall, element is fun if you are using the right element against the monster and hitting the right parts
And If you Want to Know Hey Jay White/Old Fatalis did Make it at Number 15 of the Best Monster in the Monster Hunter Series List with the Pull so Good on him he did Great
if you are playing on 3ds you can change the settings of the "special attack button" in the menu, you'll kick with start instead of the touch screen and when you have your weapon drawn, pressing it will do the guard point animation
My own strategy for Beyond The Crimson Veil was full Desert Seltas Queen and Chaotic Gore Magala charge blade, and I just hit the back legs and casted 6 phial SAEDs along its tail.
I spend 6000 hours in mh4u. I was very depressed for a couple of years, life was very painful physical and mentally. weird to think about the fact that a video game mightve saved my life. without it, I mightve broken down because holy hell, I really didnt have a single good thing going on.
Im glad youre playing these games but im not gonna lie, as someone who put well over 5 thousand hours into mh4u im honestly a little relieved someone who just picked up monster hunter with world didnt just blast through old world fatalis fights by himself so easily. The fact that i was even worried about that should tell you how far you've come on your journey. This is my favorite game probably of all time and im so glad you liked it

Hey Jay, a quick tip for guard pointing: All you have to do is press X + R right before a monster attacks. The trick is to *press X a bit earlier than R* in order to get the animation where the hunter puts the shield in front of himself during the axe morph. If you're able to do that, you should be able to guard point consistently.
GG for White Fata You could've killed him if more time I did solo him few months ago with hammer ( even though Fatalis can't be stunned ) but with only 2 seconds remaining Can't wait to see what your next MH pledge will be, if plan on doing another one before Wilds released of course
I’m so glad I was able to watch this as soon as it dropped. I agree that White Fatalis is the best out of the three Fatalis. He was my final unique experience. Thanks to grinding Crimson Fatalis in multiplayer, I was able to get his IG. That helped in slaying White Fatalis. It was a satisfying end to my original pledge. I still have many more materials to get, as I want to be able to get certain weapons and armor prior to the servers shutting down. Currently working on a tier list on what I think of the Old World exclusive monsters and subspecies.
Speaking of funny quests, if you haven't already you NEED to do these: - Low-rank, Konchu in arena - G-rank, Lagombi in arena - Episodic quests (talk to housekeeper): G-rank "Of Masks & Monsters" I've also scored a Rare 10 Relic Deceadeus via Guild Quests -- maxes out at 1080 attack, decent Sharpness (blue/white), ACTIVE Thunder element (also, the color is yellow tint), and 3 OPEN slots. (Note: "Status Res" is the skill that makes you immune to all 5 Elemental Blights; if you can snag a Relic Talisman with another Status Res+5, you can use it without needing armor pieces.) My "white whale" in MH4U is to score a Relic weapon of: - Dear Lutemis (magenta or purple tint) with active Poison ...just so I can call it the "Dreadqueen" CB. Looking forward to whenever you get into MHGU! MHGU is kind of the "everyone is here" of Monster Hunter. You will not forget the final bosses of High Rank and G-rank, _[redacted]_ and _[redacted]._ There are no other fights like them in the series.

to me you should continue this pledge like try to get the best relic chargeblade with all kinds elements and status ailment {that is not hidden on awaken skill ofcourse} as many as you can have coz why not? for me relic weapons/armor are what i like about 4u it gives you alot of ways for mixed armor sets that uses a piece of armor from monsters in the previous games

...Yeah once you get to GU, don't bother with completing every quest...it's overkill. lol If anything, fight every monster, do some of the events, and at least fight the Deviant EX quests.
Finally caught up to all of these! Congratulations on the hunts!! I had a pledge to hunt at least once a week before the servers shut down, but now I need to find a way to make more time to enjoy the game even more 🥲

I never go to Ingle Isle without the "Heat Res" skill. Protection from the lava terrain is more important then chugging a Cool Drink every 5 minutes.

The fastest way to farm scrolls if I remember is to just spam the village Crimson Fatalis quest. Gives tons of points and scroll letters.

I just fought White Fatalis in 4U recently as well, I'm a bit sad they put him in Castle Schrade he was a much cooler fight in Monster Hunter 2.
