The sheer comedic pay off of watching 100 purple pikmin carry the doomsday apparatus across the entire map, marching through fields of corpses, each step longer than the last, only for them to reach the ship and have it be worth one poko almost killed me.

So in canon Pikmin 2 Louie stayed behind most likely because he wanted to stay on the pikmin planet, and got captured by the Titian Dweevil by accident.
In Pikmin 2 Kaizo Louie got tired of all this madness and grinding and left, only to forget that this is Pikmin 2 Kazio he got captured by the Titan dewevil.

@@Diegothefox-q6s The more you look into it the more the ships explanation is a lie, Louie was unconscious the entire fight and Olimar’s notes on the Dweevils comment on how they often imitate living creatures and objects they carry, with the Titan Dweevil itself changing its dna as well, even noting that it really likes shiny objects, implying that Louie was found by the beast first.
I guarantee you the final floor was meant to have an abyss but the creator had to remove it because if a shock therapist orb lands in the abyss the game crashes, at least according to the dev notes in 216

the fact the ship's research pod can just fly around and not just get the treasure it's self after you have delt with the threats is one of the many reasons for a frieghting company's inevitable downturn into forgotten publications

i could've sworn i put the exact dolphin version in the readme, and also updated the readme file with disabling mmu for modern dolphins to run it. i wonder if i forgot to.
anyway, really liked the video. you should try new year kaizo next. you'll find the challenge and level design to be more genuine and hardcore compared to mine
"Lands of Torture" is another difficult Pikmin 2 mod. Only I find Lands of Torture to be much better. I thought Kaizo was way too repetitive. There was no variety in the caves. Lands of Torture was much more interesting and far less repetitive. And it's a shame it's overshadowed by Kaizo. You should give that one a shot if you haven't already.
I thought Kaizo was supposed to be, y'know, insane difficulty mixed with fun trolling. Pikmin 2 Kaizo has trolling, but it's less "hidden block that sends Mario into a pit" and more "play all of Desert Bus three times lmao get trolled"

I swear kaizo dream den was taken from the pits of hell itself. GG on this! You should totally play pikmin 251 if you have not already BTW. It also makes pikmin 2 harder but in a far more reasonable way and adds new areas treasures enemies and even a new pikmin thpe

An hour long IOHFP video? I know what I'm watching and rewatching several times
Dunno if amyone mentioned this, but the reason why the kaizo layout enemies still showed up when you accidentally loaded the vanilla game may be because the enemies on the field are saved to the save file at the end of the day. Chances are the devs didnt add a check to see if the remaining enemies from the previous day are ones that can show up at all, so the vanilla game loads the still living kaizo enemies saved to the file for that area.

Land of Torture is basically a lot less spam but the enemies buffed are worser than many in kaizo and enemies tend to synergies. (Also floors imo are more memorable as a result of less varied spam)

I hardly ever leave comments on videos but oh my lord the writing in this video is some of the funniest I've heard in a long time. Combined with the editing had me laughing really hard at so many points throughout the whole video. Amazing work.
I originally tried doing this mod blind and resetless. By the time I got to the Frontier Cavern, I was basically forced to reset the second Empress Bulblax floor just to get beatable layout for the boss. Seeing that there was so much more to that cave after that headache of a floor broke me.

It seems like they sorta missed the point of the Submerged Castle? It’s not just “waterwraith hard”. Its difficulty is the combination of the 5-minute time limit, the variety of obstacles despite the lack of pikmin types, AND the deadliness of the waterwriath.
This is what Pikmin 3 Deluxe (Ultra-spicy mode) should have been.🍃
I remember playing this a long time ago. I'm glad that future Pikmin 2 mods found a better way to balance "hard" with "fun" while learning the difference between tedious and challenging. This was fun to play, but there were some simple changes that could have made it better, like not pushing the treasure radar into endgame... Did that really add any difficulty? It just made things more tedious, not difficult.

First video I found of yours and wow, I’m immediately hooked now. Also as a pikmin nerd, the “Emergence Cave” in the Perplexing Pool is actually an unused cave from the main game called “cavetest.” It only exists on the first day and can’t be accessed due to the Perplexing Pool not being available on that day. It also contains unused floor layouts for other sublevels of multiple caves!
I love that the legacy of the original Kaizo Mario World remains in making it so you just can't see the final boss

Man, it's sad how this started out with some mild interest in just how they were going to continue to make things difficult. Then later on it's just devolved into "and then they spammed this enemy again for the billionth time." or "and then they added an unavoidable ambush as soon as I spawned in." Shame the mod seems to have lost its passion late game.
