    The best information on UA-cam. No life-long story about how life has been lived. Just great information. Thanks!

    Finally, someone actually has a good, simple video on sharpening scissors! Tried 4 other videos - no results except dull scissors. Following this one is only one that actually produced sharp scissors. And you didn't drag out time on video needlessly! Thanks!!!

    This was JUST what I needed, no banter just a simple how-to because watching these types of how-tos that are chores is annoying in itself. You figured out the recipe to making it a painless process on learning this & now I have confidence in sharpening yay!! THANK YOU 4 years later after your upload! You're STILL helping people :)

    This needs to be recommended more when you search for how to sharpen a pair of scissors. This is helpful and straight to the point. Was able to sharpen my dull scissors. Thank you!

      Iit was the first video that propped up with a Google search! Sometimes Google is better than UA-cam search.

      I searched "how to sharpen scissors with a sharpening stone" on yt and this was the 1st thing that came up so it must have caught the algorithm and as it should, it's a great video!

    Thank you for your video! I almost bought a special sharpener for scissors but found a stone in the knife drawer. Didn’t know there was a hard and soft side.

    How do you know you are holding the stone at 45 degrees at all times?

    • @imherefor2things
      @imherefor2things 2 роки тому

      Think about it this way... 0 degrees is flat against the blade, and 90 degrees is laying on the blade at a right angle. You want to shoot for halfway in between the 2.

      You can also use a sharpie and mark along the bevel of the scissors. Take a few strokes and then look at the mark to make sure you are sharpening at a 45 degree angle. Once the mark is completely gone, you're done.

  • @keithjohnson5190

    I am no scissor sharpner but I was told that they use a 10 degree angle? I could be wrong? I just put the scissors on the stone and use the angle that I see.

    Thank you!!! Two questions:
    I've read that wetting the stone can help as well, do you have an opinion on this?
    I've also read that this is good for hard steel scissors but apparently there are also soft steel scissors and it will ruin them. What do the scissors you should not use this on look like?

      I don't use water and it works for me when sharpening the scissors don't be too rough. Be gently in the video the sound may sound like I'm doing a lot of pressure but I'm not. It's just the way the audio came out.

      Any idea about grit of the stone?

    • @everettwhite9874
      @everettwhite9874 5 років тому +2

      SqiroS22 Yeah, he said one side is rough and the opposite side is soft. There’s a clue my friend.
      I have my scissors sharpened by a professional, but I sharpen my personal razors. The grit of that stone he’s using on those scissors would be unsuitable for slide cutting. If he’s satisfied with the sharpness after he’s finished, I won’t say anything about that.
      I’m glad he posted the video and for that I gave him a Like. 👍🏽
