Finally, someone actually has a good, simple video on sharpening scissors! Tried 4 other videos - no results except dull scissors. Following this one is only one that actually produced sharp scissors. And you didn't drag out time on video needlessly! Thanks!!!
This was JUST what I needed, no banter just a simple how-to because watching these types of how-tos that are chores is annoying in itself. You figured out the recipe to making it a painless process on learning this & now I have confidence in sharpening yay!! THANK YOU 4 years later after your upload! You're STILL helping people :)
This needs to be recommended more when you search for how to sharpen a pair of scissors. This is helpful and straight to the point. Was able to sharpen my dull scissors. Thank you!
I searched "how to sharpen scissors with a sharpening stone" on yt and this was the 1st thing that came up so it must have caught the algorithm and as it should, it's a great video!
Looks brutal, but it works!!!!!! Finally after 30 long years!!! Tried it on the $100 pair. It passes the wet toilet paper test!! I did it!!Thank you!!!
Thank you for your video! I almost bought a special sharpener for scissors but found a stone in the knife drawer. Didn’t know there was a hard and soft side.
Great video I just subcribed. I was putting about a 20 debree angle on mine. Way to much. I loved the simplecity. To many out there make something harder than should be. Thank you.
Think about it this way... 0 degrees is flat against the blade, and 90 degrees is laying on the blade at a right angle. You want to shoot for halfway in between the 2.
You can also use a sharpie and mark along the bevel of the scissors. Take a few strokes and then look at the mark to make sure you are sharpening at a 45 degree angle. Once the mark is completely gone, you're done.
I am no scissor sharpner but I was told that they use a 10 degree angle? I could be wrong? I just put the scissors on the stone and use the angle that I see.
Thank you - I will try this. I am curious why you do not wet the stone. Most people say you should do so. Most people could be wrong tho. They often are haha.
Thank you!!! Two questions: I've read that wetting the stone can help as well, do you have an opinion on this? I've also read that this is good for hard steel scissors but apparently there are also soft steel scissors and it will ruin them. What do the scissors you should not use this on look like?
I don't use water and it works for me when sharpening the scissors don't be too rough. Be gently in the video the sound may sound like I'm doing a lot of pressure but I'm not. It's just the way the audio came out.
Thank you so much for taking care he time make this video! It is very easy to follow with no nonsense in video! I'm ready to cut my hair! Will let you know how good they cut...l
@@BlessedBlade Thank you for your fast reply 🙏 ... now I have two questions do you have a video of a long layer haircut and of elderly or balding men hair cut (I know this maybe a sensitive topic, but I'm trying to learn) Thanks again
The knife sharpening stone I bought from Daiso only has 1 side. The other side is the plastic handle. I don't know if it's what you would consider course or fine. Can I use it to sharpen hair scissors? Thanks.
I like that, no bullshit, bish, bash, bosh! Not like some of these other videos........ they make it sound as though they're splitting atoms, way more involved than need be, anyway.......... None of that with this guy, he spits it out while you're still awake + away you go!
John Ransom I always sharpened like this and it worked perfectly for me that's why i wanted to share. This are not cheap scissors i wouldn't do anything that damage them.
SqiroS22 Yeah, he said one side is rough and the opposite side is soft. There’s a clue my friend. I have my scissors sharpened by a professional, but I sharpen my personal razors. The grit of that stone he’s using on those scissors would be unsuitable for slide cutting. If he’s satisfied with the sharpness after he’s finished, I won’t say anything about that. I’m glad he posted the video and for that I gave him a Like. 👍🏽
The best information on UA-cam. No life-long story about how life has been lived. Just great information. Thanks!

Right!!
Looks more like he’s ruining those scissors

Iit was the first video that propped up with a Google search! Sometimes Google is better than UA-cam search.

Finally! Someone that makes a concise 'how to video' without all the blah blah blah. You dominate.
Tony Burgess I agree ☝️ very clear and to the point no blah blah

Thank you so much! So simple the way you show it.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Very informative & helpful, without all the bs that others have in them.

Thank you for your video! I almost bought a special sharpener for scissors but found a stone in the knife drawer. Didn’t know there was a hard and soft side.
Wow! An actual scissors sharpening vid! Thanks!
Also, should you wet the stone before sharpening?
Subscribed. Thank you for keeping it simple and understandable with excellent instruction
Just curious, how come you go up and down and not circular motions?
Because the blade is straight
Short and to the point. Perfect .

How do you know you are holding the stone at 45 degrees at all times?
Think about it this way... 0 degrees is flat against the blade, and 90 degrees is laying on the blade at a right angle. You want to shoot for halfway in between the 2.

I had the stone but didn’t know that light color stone side is the one to sharpen scissors! Thanks so much!
It looks to me like he starts with the rough side (the darker colour), and then switches to the softer side.
Thank you - I will try this. I am curious why you do not wet the stone. Most people say you should do so. Most people could be wrong tho. They often are haha.
