Although tough for you because of the lack of gas, a thing to add is to start the engine for a few minutes to heat the oil. Drains easier and quicker. Thanks for taking the time to post this video.
Hey D J, my wife said she think we need to be neighbors...so let me know if something comes up for sale on your block. Awesome video Dude....so patient an thorough Ill do my own now rather than draggin to the shop and payin too much. Thank you!!😎
I see it went smooth for you. Nice place u live....Toro start rite away....little storie I bought the same mower for my dad 2017 and ask him pls just cut your grass......so I ask. Mom Where is dad ....oh he is cutting the neighbor grass ,,...funny but that's how he was ......Dad pass away 2017 ......I let the mower sit for 4 yrs and decide to put some gas and pull the string n guess what. It started right away.......so now I cut the grass home but Toro such a great mower never disappoint.........I watch the video to change the oil now. Tnks. Blessings always
Total noob here. Recently purchased a Toro Recycler 22. I've used different lawnmowers over the years but this is the first one I bought myself, I've never really done any sort of work or maintenance on them either. I nearly panicked after I added the oil and white smoke started billowing out, and I might have overfilled it. I'll have to go back and check the oil and maybe drain it if that's the case. I appreciate you showing how a routine oil change should be done, you learn something new every day.
Don't feel bad bro, I got mine in 2015 and I'm just now doing an oil change because I've always just said "eh I'll do it later" ... it's "later"... toro can handle a lot of abuse and still cranks first or second time
Thanks. I was wondering how this worked for the Toro “no oil change mowers”. I overfilled mine since I am getting white smoke on inclines so I need to do this. Thanks sir!
Nice video on the oil change, didn't realize there wasn't a drain plug on the under side. Would you happen to have the part number's for the air filter and spark plug? Thank you
Yes its always a good idea to perform the oil change with an empty gas tank. When i changed my oil i had no gas because i run it out at the end of the season so when spring came around i did the oil before i gas up
no oil filter? I have one been changing it since I bought it. It say in manual don’t change its a throw away lawnmower I guess. You changed the air filter but does it have an oil filter? also why didn’t you cange the spark plug?
From the looks of your oil draining, it appears that your motor was cold and likely didn't get all the oil out of the crankcase that you wold have had the engine been run for 10 minutes or so and warm prior to the drain job.. Otherwise a good video and now I'll quit looking for the fricking drain plug!!!! Carry on sir!!
I didn't run the engine before. Next time i will. As for the drain plug i looked everywhere before reading that it didn't have one lol. Tilting it work out just fine
I have on of these. Starts every time. Best one I have had in years. It’s a keeper so gona take care of it. Changed oil in something else years ago that had 1 in/out oil hole. Glad that guy below knows about everything. Guess I’ll run it for a few. Thx. Self propel even seems solid. Little metal piece at the end of the cable at hand end to engage snss as broke off. 2 zipties. Done. Keep the dirt out of there & spray lithium geease sometimes. Would have looked in the manual. But it might have fallen off the back of a truck. Dk. Takem easy
You can use 5W-30 Synthetic after break-in if YOU want the motor to last longer and change every year or when it starts turning darker. They DO make straight 30 SAE weight Synthetic oil too now. Simple FACT that the more YOU change the OIL, the longer the Engine will last... Also Keep the AIR filter clean ( heck, add a pre filter like I do) those re-usable VIVA paper towels cut to size, work GREAT as a Pre-filter...if You can find them. Just some advise to make Your "NOW SUPER Over-Priced mowers" last Much Longer !
That oil was VERY dirty. Also, best to let lawnmower run for 2 or 3 minutes, it warm up the oil a little bit, and greatly helps oil to run out and drain much faster. You don't need but a very small amount of gasoline to run lawnmower couple or three minutes
These lawnmowers don’t use that much oil I think he should’ve told everyone that because every lawnmower is different from the make and model. Try to find out if you use 12 ounces 18 ounces or 32 ounces I think that guy read up on his lawnmower and figure it out to be how many ounces that’s why he used a whole can. But remember people if you have too much oil in your lawnmower it will start to white smoke out of the exhaust muffler so if you have a lot of white smoke and it does not clear up after 10 seconds stop the lawnmower drain some oil out and keep checking your dipstick OK or see if you still have white smoke and if you do drain some more until you get no more white smoke if you don’t have a dipstick have a good one God bless you I hope this helps✝️✝️✝️
Thank you so much! I was able to complete the first oil change on my mower by myself!
Best video yet explaining the process of changing the oil and air filter! Thank you...
Your very welcome
your video was perfect. Just completed my first oil change without a problem. Thank you so much
Glad i could be of help

Yeah I'm going to be posting a video on my snowblower oil change as well. That will also be my first one lol
You sound just like me. I've had mine for at least 5 years and I'm still telling myself the same thing. 😄
Great video
I do have the same LawnmowerHaving some trouble find the grass bag and frame , Can you help me with that! Thanks
I just did this exact process before watching this video. Had to run it 20min before it stopped shooting white smoke all over the yard
Thanks. I was wondering how this worked for the Toro “no oil change mowers”. I overfilled mine since I am getting white smoke on inclines so I need to do this. Thanks sir!
Man I have the same problem and ain’t not know what I do with it.!
@@josspadilla6093 Just follow the video. It worked for me. Good luck man!
Hi there! Great video! Is there an oil filter on this model? I don’t see one.
Did you drain the gas first?
nice, thanks

Thanks Mo!
Some people say to run the gas out before changing the oil? What do you do if there is gas in it? Siphon it maybe? What would you do?

Your very welcome. Thank's for watching
My friend pour his oil in his neighbors yard who calls the po po on him all the time , because he plays old school rap music from the 90s/00s .
Muchas gracias
I just read that a 22 inch lawnmower takes 24 ounces of oil. So what do I do use the 18 or the 24? I don't want to screw anything up.
Dump in the 18 wait a while for the oil to run down the dipstick tube maybe 30 min then check the level w the dipstick

Thanks a lot this was very helpful,
But how to tell how much oil you need for your engine!
Usually the oil for your engine comes in a 18 oz bottle and the whole bottle is required after you take out the old oil
I recommend the K&N Air filters for your Toro 22 inch mower man.
Is there a oil filter on there also ?
Actually no oil filter
That oil was VERY dirty. Also, best to let lawnmower run for 2 or 3 minutes, it warm up the oil a little bit, and greatly helps oil to run out and drain much faster. You don't need but a very small amount of gasoline to run lawnmower couple or three minutes

It is required to import the entire bottle on this particular model. Just make sure all oil is drained and you'll be fine. No white smoke here 🙂
I have the same mower and it says no oil change required, just add when needed. ? Also says gurebteed to start and it's not lol
Well as you can see the color of the oil was horrible and that was 4 seasons without changing. I couldn't imagine not changing it ever lol
Warranty is over before the unchanged oil destroys the mower.
show me the oil can one more time please !
Tip #1...... don't buy a mower that has no drain plug.
Tip #2.….Change the oil after initial 15 minutes of running.
Tip #3.... don't use factory oil.
sadly people wont listen
Thank you.
