Until 1:00, this was actually a decent ending. Like, "you cant escape from the GMAN and his employers". Its actually nice, if we think that mitchel already said "fuck it" to hunting gordon. And they ruined It with the "adrian is your brother"
It almost feels like the original plot of the story was that Mitchell WAS going to be Adrian, but i guess valve didn't want them to do anything with Adrian since they may use him again in the future.
I don't think Valve even considers Opposing Force to be officially canon (since they aren't even the developer) within the universe. They just kinda flip flop over canonizing it
they shouldve just went all in. them tip toeing around the canon is kind of dissatisfying. youre making a mary sue edgy character but his existence doesn’t majorly change the outcome of the story. i think mitch shouldve been toned down way more. i remember seeing a cool story idea for hunt down the freeman where it’s about mitchell’s obsession with freeman even years later causing everything good in his life (nick, adam, his ship and coworkers) to deteriorate and eventually lead to his doom. Gman and the actual gordon doesnt even have to get involved! they probably shouldn’t have made mitch adrian though. but definitely not a shepherd.
I feel like their developers genuinely don't know how to incorporate Adrian into the game since he is basically the player self-insert (face behind gas mask and silent) so they just reduce his role into a cameo

while the story is... well... a thing, there was so much effort that went into these cutscenes: the scene-building, lighting, composition, animation and lip-syncing (some of the cutscenes hadn't been finalized when the game released hence some of them looking unpolished) and even if the main character looks incredibly generic, theres still a lot of detail on his face
Gotta admit that last cutscene went hard with the music and cinematography with the white particles in the black void, right before they dragged Adrian into it….

El juego tuvo potencial como para que estos finales tuvieran sentido, de hecho el final del tren cuando encuentra a 5 freeman se siente algo, tiene un significado pero no se logra descubrir que cosa, porqué el juego nació siendo inconcluso, con una idea e historia muy interesante (al mi aparecer era buena porque narraba sucesos que en los juegos de HL2 no mencionaron directamente) sin embargo en termino de "narración", no funcionó. Faltó tiempo, amor, lectura, congruencia, simplicidad, etc... El juego no obtuvo el objetivo de ser valorado, porque se desperdició en si mismo. Como en la descripción dices, se siente emotiva de cierta manera, quizás porque se entendió muy poco o quizás nada. Pero al mi aparecer si fueron buenas las escena, porque uno mismo le da un significado. Si es que logran hacerlo Gracias por subir el video :)
