Thanks Dan for showing how to play this. You have a great style in teaching how to play this iconic intro. Not too fast, not too slow. Looking forward to the rest of your videos for this song. 🤗
Thanks Dano my music Brother Awesome teacher teaching me Feeling Alright.Im amazed that the lead singer Even is doing this song.Im glad we got you because I would of Been Lost
Credits to the original by Traffic, Specifically Dave Mason. Cocker's version is however an "original of the original," as he's such a great stylist. Credits to you too Dan for breaking it down. It's crazy how such a simple riff can be so hard to figure out by ear. Again thank you!
As long as we're giving credit, the arrangement of this song on which you are basing this lesson is the version from Cocker's "Mad Dogs and Englishmen," which was played and arranged by Leon Russell, who was the music director for that tour. Leon was a genius, a staggeringly good keyboardist, and a great person on top of it. Leon makes that tune, and several others on that double album.
unbelievable what some people add as comments here! just found your site and I think this presentation is great - thanks a lot. i wish i had a tablet to place on the music stand above the keys :-)
HDpiano I'm taking piano lessons and learning to read sheet music but I'm really slow at it. Your (no-sheet-music) approach is great for showing which keys to hit and the timing between them. Have you considered adding animated sheet music as well? In addition to showing when the keys are pressed with your "falling bars", it would be fantastic to have the relevant sheet music notes highlighted exactly when they are in effect. This is probably not an easy thing to add but it would definitely be nice for those of us who are trying to read the music too
Fantastic!! I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would be able to play this. I'm just a hacker. But, thanks to you, I sound like I know what I'm doing. LOL. Thanks so much!!
Hello!! This is a great tutorial. However I did want to ask. Speaking of 6th notes apart, isn’t the 6 th of A actually the F sharpAnd for e the 6 th would be the C sharp?
what the teacher said. of course. the way they change it up, slightly, subtly, like keith richards, warren spahn, ha ha, just thought i'd throw that in there, pitcher for the yankees, but, like, willie nelson, those subtle changes hit hard like bard man. what it's all about.
This is ok to start and save some time figuring it out for yourself, but it's unlikely you will get every nuance of the piece, there's just too much variety in the playing... fo get it note for note you usually have to figure it out yourself.

The piano melody in this song was sampled in:
‘Prince Fleaswallow's Rap’ from the game: ‘PaRappa The Rapper’ for the ‘PlayStation 1’ back in 1996.
🤘

Hello!! This is a great tutorial. However I did want to ask. Speaking of 6th notes apart, isn’t the 6 th of A actually the F sharpAnd for e the 6 th would be the C sharp?
A 6th up from E is C#, yes!
When you’re playing 6ths, they can be a natural 6 or a flat 6

what keyboard do you use in your videos
Here's a treasure trove of keyboard info! hdpiano.com/best-digital-piano-guide/
Sorry but this is wrong. The ascending resolution in the intro is missing.
Dumb question: where are the other parts? Can't seem to find them.
Why is my key board tuned different ?
If you access HD piano there is no way to leave that page.. ie. No back button or x to close..
huh?

Thanks for reaching out, Terry. Please send information about this to info (at) hdpiano.com. We'll get this figured out!
it is to fast play
+julian bensen It is a toughie, but with some practice and focus it's possible!
This is ok to start and save some time figuring it out for yourself, but it's unlikely you will get every nuance of the piece, there's just too much variety in the playing... fo get it note for note you usually have to figure it out yourself.
No doubt!
