Hahaha. I only have that tether because I accidentally dropped the key down the hole underneath the handlebar and almost was stranded…I tether it on while riding and then remove it afterward

Good tip JD. Curious - have you heard if all the 2022 Ultra 310’s have the defective wire harness? Has there been a recall issued or is this isolated? Also, is there anything particular people are doing to their machines to have this issue come to light??
I don’t think it’s all of them, but seems like there are a few having the problem- mine included. I know of 5 so far. I have not heard anything about a recall, but wouldn’t be surprised if there was one. If you start having weird electrical issues like your display not turning on, immobilizer key not working, or the ski not booting up when the key is inserted chances are you would be experiencing the defective harness. There are issues with the resin splices in the harness where they were sealed with moisture inside- which causes the wires to corrode.
@@JDsWaterWorld Beauty. Thanks JD. I’ll keep an eye on that…. I have yet to receive a recall notice (In Canada anyway). If there’s an issue like you describe I’ll just call the dealer. I have no doubt if it’s wide spread Kawi will issue a recall like they did the ECU flash. That’s one thing about Kawi if they have an issue they fix it. Thanks again man!
JD, suppose you really wanted that handlebar tie off point on your Aqua machine. Would it be as simple as swapping out the shroud? Asking because I really hate tying a rope around my entire steering column on my Ultra LX. Thanks
Interesting thought..I am pretty sure the base Handlebar riser assembly is the same but not sure if the handlebars themselves or mount bracket is the same..check the microfiche at Riva Racings OEM parts section and see if they are same part numbers. If so, the cover for the new generation should work!
I have 2 2014 Kawasaki’s and 1 works fine. The 2nd one won’t register the key and the battery is fine. Any advice on what you’d check first JD?I’m desperate to get it fixed before summer is over. 🙏🏻
Call Steve at Kawi Performance - he is the Kawi Key Master and can sell you the special tool dongle and extra key. If it did work and just stopped suddenly the issue could be your immobilizer- you can test the immobilizer assembly to make sure it's OK first before buying a new key
I'm pretty sure it's almost exactly the same- BUT if you bought the kit from Kawi Performance @kawiperformance they have a great set of instructions and video
Hello jd I have a no crank issue. Everything comes on just no crank when pressing start button. Have power from start button to computer but no power to starter solenoid. Battery is charged. Any ideas. I've tried both keys.
@JDsWaterWorld finally found issue about midnight when they did recall they had two plugs swapped. They also didn't run harness correctly and could not get to everything especially 2 fuses. Finally got it all back together about 3am. Thank you for responding back. Also the guy from K-speed was helping me out back and forth on phone at 12-1 atleast is was not midnight over there. Awesome guy to help like that.
Call Kawi Performance..tell them JD sent you. They can usually make replacement keys- do you have your slo key or did you manage to lose both? Either way, call Steve at Kawi Performance and see if he can help you.
New to the ski. I have a 310 lxs and stupidly the plastic keys, fell out of my hands and went to the water. could a dealer tech come out to the marina with a configuration tool and blank key and configure a new key without doing the dreaded expensive ECU replacement?
Hahahahah nope not that I know of…how could anyone be as dumb or irresponsible as to drop the immobilizer key into the depths of the handlebar assembly and then need to borrow a giant pliers to fish it out?

Did you check all of the fuses? If 2022+ have you had wire harness recall completed?
