Thanks for posting. I could not tell any difference with the pump wedge on my 2023 Ultra 160. Did not like how few of threads I had on my steering cable attachment after extending it to center the steering. With no obvious speed gain I removed it.

Hi Edward, This is our Kspeed pump wedge? should of only need approx 5 turns out. The Ultra 160 instructions have been reviewed and the updated video we dropped this morning for the 2024 Ultra 310 should be followed for your Ultra 160 pump wedge, as you also have a 2023 prefix trim box in your ski with the shorter 10mm cable on the trim side.
Shoot me an email with your order number, let me look into it. sales@brisbanekawasaki.com.au

@@BrisbaneKawasakiIt is the factory pump wedge. 5 turns is basically 5 threads right? How many threads is it on the shaft from the factory? Maybe 10 or 12. So losing half the threads made me nervous that the pressure might strip it off the remaining threads. Maybe not but with no obvious gain in speed I decided to stay safe and removed it. Have you posted before and after results?

      @@edwardbowles8613 Hi Edward,
The factory ski doesn't have a pump wedge. On a 2022 and 2023 ski it has 20mm of thread. on a 2024 ski it has 10mm of thread.
The 2022 and 2023 ski's is what this video is about as the 2024 ski's don't have any adjustment and actually auto calibrate each time you start the ski.
2022 and 2023 are adjustable and in this case, this ski wasn't right from factory.
Lots of spare thread on the 2022 and 2023 to adjust to suit the pump wedge, we've been Kawasaki dealers for 12years, mechanics for 45years. We only do what is right, we don't do anything that isn't safe.

    I have a question.💡
If the ski is in neutral and it goes forward or reverse in a stable body of water in neutral. ( no current )
You can adjust neutral position in dash settings. when you adjust the neutral position in the unit display option, Does this adjust the trim for the pump for the neutral position or does the neutral -/+ adjust the reverse box?
If the neutral -/+ adjustment is set to positive or negative and not set to zero.
Would this mean when you do your pump measurement it would not be accurate due to the neutral adjustment in dash not being at zero?
wondering Neutral adjustment would need to be set to zero in dash to have correct measurement on pump when checking?
If the unit neutral position is pre set from factory to -2 or +2 would this mean your measurements would not be correct when checking the pump measurement unless you adjust your neutral setting back to zero?
When i purchased my unit i was playing in the dash and came across the neutral option and mine was not set to zero from factory.
If neutral position is not at zero out of the box the pump balance would be off ? a in correct measurement? or is the +/- neutral option for the dump box?
    Thanks

That setting only applies when the ski is running. when the ski is unpowered and in maintenance mode, you must press the initialize button to zero everything out. On this ski, even when we initialize it, it's still out a lot.
The trim and reverse change depending on F N R when the ski is running only. Neutral + / - changes the reverse bucket not the trim nozzle. So it won't affect your settings down there.
The reason we use maintenance mode, and press the MODE button to initialize before making any adjustments is that zeros the computer for that job. It won't change you saved + / - settings when the ski is running. But as per the new service revision requiring you to shorten the reverse cable on all 2022 and 2023 Ultra's that will be slightly changed and you'll need to finesse that setting again next ride.
EG. If you are riding with TRIM all the up, then put the ski in neutral, the trim actually lowers back to zero. tap the forward again and the trim will go back to where it was. It self adjusts constantly, but it relies on micro switches inside the controller unit for feedback when calculating zero. the secondary method of calculation is resistance in the cable, if the end to end micro switches are not triggered when zeroed but the cable encounters resistance eg. wrong setting, it thinks this is the zero point.
Lots of variables to explain, but the key point is. Before you do any measurements. place the ski in maintenance mode and press the MODE button to initialize the system, then measure and adjust. Adjusting anything without being in this initialized state will affect all measurements once maintenance mode turned off.

@BrisbaneKawasaki thanks for your speedy response..
Just something that triggered my mind to question.
Did not know if it was dump box for neutral +/- or if it had to do with the pump angle and if not set to zero could have threw out measurements..
Thanks for clearing this up for me.

We've pulled them apart and I've looked at all the parts schematics, the new ultras do not have wedges mate, they are also quite difficult to fit wedges into.
The 2012-2022 do. (also a different setup with no trim control)

This is baseline for a stock ski. What do I set it for after I install a wedge? Is Neutral always even/even?

    • @BrisbaneKawasaki
      @BrisbaneKawasaki  Місяць тому +1

correct. Neutral is even. With and without pump wedge.

We will be doing a video on that today. do you have a pump wedge already? what year model ski? We've done this video already on our 2022 310 with a ks3 ride plate. ua-cam.com/video/e8yczLzp2w8/v-deo.html
The answer is, neutral trim should always be even whether you have a pump wedge or not. After fitting a pump wedge it won't be even anymore, so you adjust it so it goes back to even.
