This lesson today is Lesson 10 - Part 2

Today we continue to work on the phrase in 9/8.
This will be with the musical form: AAAB.
This is Lesson 10-part 2, now we are playing the complete phrase AAAB.
We will be playing the entire AAAB 2 times on each of the first 4 positions.
Leading right and leading left!
I recommend for now, let’s set some realistic goals:
The goal today is to play the entire phrase on Geometric Phrasing Positions 1 to 4 without stopping.
Positions 5-6-7-8-9 are a bit tricky involving cymbals, changing the feet ostinatos etc, so,it is a huge coordination challenge, we will do that next class!
Let’s look at the stickings:
Gary Chaffee 6b = RLRRLL or LRLLRR
Gary Chaffee 6d = RLRLRR or LRLRLL
Gary Chaffee 8b = RLRRLLRR or LRLLRRLL
Gary Chaffee 4b = RLRR or LRLL
Today’s Phrase:
A = 9/8 [: 6b 6b - 6d 6d - 4b -4b -4b :]
B = | 8b-8b-8b-4b-4b-4b :]
The homework today is this:
Play this phrase with positions #1 SD with ostinato #1, ostinato 2 and 3
(Go to Lesson 9-Part 1 for clarification on the ostinatos)
Next Lesson will be 10 Part 3 where we will be completing the phrase with a B section.
