If they're using a standard sized ball mount, it should also be fairly easy to swap out for a mechanical style holder if you don't want the magnetic style.
Had this mount for 4 months and it works perfectly plus it blocks no controls and the vent isn’t blowing hot or cold on your phone. I use the usb in the passenger leg well.

I got a similar mount for my f30, if not the same one. Can't remember. Since the ball joint on the mount is pretty universal I put a wireless charger phone mount on it instead of the magnetic mount. Adds a bit of bulk but works great.

Nice video, but I can't say it's the best phone mount by far. I am using a "tripod" style mount, which is very easy to install (hooked onto the ac vent), very stable, no metal pad needed, and if you install it to the middle-right vent, it blocks only few radio preset buttons which are rarely used.

I bought one of these a year ago for my 2019 f36. I'm not sure if everyone has the same problem but mine doesn't sit perfectly flush. There is about a 1cm gap that's created by the mount. Does anyone else have this issue our did I install it improperly?
When I used a metal plate to do this magnetic holder and wirelessly charged it my phone overheated and had to be replaced. IOTW, don’t do this IF wirelessly charging.

I used the old method and just used 3m tape on the console. Been working well.

This is the exact comment I was hoping to see. Mine too leaves a gap maybe 1/3 of an inch. Not a huge problem but not an exact fit. I have an F80.
Of course it does. It goes under the trim so it raises it the thickness of the bracket material.
