If you find the cemetery caretaker many have a list and map of who is buried there. “Find a Grave” is not always complete. Also, if you take a blank piece of paper and lay it over a hard-to-read tombstone then take a pencil and color over it, many letters and numbers will appear on the paper. My mother’s side is from eastern Pennsylvania, New Brighton, Beaver Falls area. Kidd was her maiden name.

    • @LivinRVision

We were hoping the church was open when we were there but unfortunately it wasn’t. We’ll have to try and contact them to find out if they have records back that’s far.
We didn’t have any paper or a pencil/crayon with us that day. The stones didn’t have any sheen coating on them so hopefully the rubbing didn’t hurt them.
Thanks for sharing your mother’s roots! It’s fun to find out about our ancestors!
      Take care! 🧡😊🤓

@@LivinRVision sadly should never use a wire brush as it damages the stone! Soft brush, and elbow grease is best! Also never use bleach (for anyone wanting to clean a stone.)

If you get to come back to PA consider a stop at the flight 93 911 Memorial in Shanksville PA. It is a beautiful place. You can walk the grounds and visit the museum in about 3 hours. We recommend the Friendship Village Campground which is about 30 minutes from the Memorial.

I had a Permanti Bros in Pittsburgh, Pa. 38 years ago. We got their famous Cheese Steak. It had Cole slaw & French fries all on the sandwich. Never in my life did I ever see anything like it. Delicious. Very filling. I was pregnant that year, my Husband couldn't get enough of their Kosher Pickles. He got "1" every night he worked in Pittsburgh, he craved them. Me, I craved Hershey syrup in a can. I loved the tour of the Hershey factory. Some new restaurants in town. Hershey's Restaurant looked nice, & generous with their portions.
Family History is neat to research. I like how easily you cleaned off the headstone. When I calendered the cemeteries near me, here in Grayson, Va. I had blank sheets of paper with me to lay on top of the stone, then used a chalk to rub over it to bring out the lettering to read names & dates. Interesting. Seemed like I used crayons, chalk, or pencils. A lot of cornfields. Beautiful scenery. I Enjoyed seeing both of you. I like this new campground. Looks very inviting. Enjoyed your video. I hope you both have a nice week.

    • @LivinRVision
      @LivinRVision  3 роки тому

😂 It’s SO frustrating too! I try to do as much as I can correcting UA-cams closed caption errors, but always run short with time to correct them all. It is so time consuming on top of everything else for one person to keep up with unless you hire it out. If I did shorter OR easier videos to edit, then I would have more time. I’ve been looking at hiring out the CC changes for someone to do manually and then I would just upload it. Gotta agree though, they ARE funny to read sometimes. 😂

I had to come back and edit, I just realized what you were saying about the ads. This is the second time UA-cam has did this to us. We don't get to choose who advertises on our channel but we can choose where the "mid-roll" ads are located. We don't like to have so many ads, so I manually do the placements myself, because YT likes to load them up everywhere of course. Well, this is the second time recently where YT had changed my settings after I saved them. Frustrating because we don't want to overwhelm people with ads. YT always wants to do more than you would see on a regular TV show. Too many. So sorry that happened to everyones experience and enjoyment of watching the video. :(
Agree about the importance of keeping good records. I wish my son would feel that it’s important to know more about his family history. We nice my grandfather passed, I had always wished I had asked more questions.
You got it! Go Shaughty! 😂
I had a wire brush in the truck so I just used that. Hopefully I didn’t cause any damage. They didn’t have a sheen to the headstones though.
Thanks so much Crafty Clarke! 🧡😊🤓

Do a rubbing of the stone to read better? Take a large piece of paper taped to stone and rub a crayon over the surface. Lettering will pop right out on the paper.

find out who holds the records for that cemetary, there is a caretaker for a cemetary that will help you locate grave sites. OR the closets church can hold the records too..........also, can go to the local library and they maybe able to help you, and most libraries also have a local history room. Take a piece of paper and a pencil, turn the pencil on the side and rub on the part you are trying to read........

A wire brush. They were old tombstones from back in the 1800s with no sheen. We don’t think it damaged then but we plan to call a local company to see what they can do to help preserve them.

This is just fabulous, Michelle! I use Ancestry and have been tracking family as well, and my Great-Grandfather of my Dad's side was named Francis Haynes from Arizona (but lived mostly in TX I think) was born in 1903. However, HIS father (so my Great-Great-Grandfather?) was named Gaither Jackson Haynes born in 1861 in Horse Branch, Kentucky. I can see it's spelled different than your family, but what a coincidence! - Tabetha
