Very nice job Dean. I made some locking knobs like this a while back. I mounted an oversized bar vertical in my rotary table and drilled a series of holes slightly in from the edge. Mounted the bar in the lathe chuck and machined the bar to reveal half of the drilled holes. Machined the boss and parted off. You have to remember Dean I am the original Knobby Nut 😂 Cheers Nobby
I have not used the bolt circle function on our mill DRO yet but this does look easier than a rotary table. This looked like a fun project and the knobby nuts look great
They turned out excellent. That indexing hexagon/octagon jig/thing. What is it? I've never seen one before. I'm intreeged. Have you a video on it and how to use it? 👍👍Tony
Hi Ken, It's a Wimberley Tool Holder and I was using a very sharp HSS grind. It works kinda like a sheer tool or a Tangential tool holder. I should do a video on it. I'm not sure if there still available. Here's the link: www.tripodhead.com/products/toolholder-advantages.cfm Dean
Many thanks Dean. Yes, a video would be good, and appreciated. Ken
Came out nice. Thanks Dean.
Thank you Randy !

I usually just cut the grooves in a 2’ piece of shafting and part them off when I need them.

Thanks Dean. What type of facing tool did you use, right at the end of the video, to obtain the polished finish?
