This 2005 Tractor King 254 - imported for @RuralKingSupplyunder the Tractor King name circa 2001- 2010 - was built for the USA market in China by Jinma with a whooping 25HP engine. @RuralKingSupply
With about 300 hours on it, it is a very well-kept machine, and recently had some injector work done - but then it came back in for a visit - this 19-year-old has some puzzling issues.
Come along with Curtis, and "resident Tractor King expert" Tyler, as we solve the mystery!
Do you know what's wrong?

OK............Dont leave us hanging, who placed the blank in the exhaust?????
Great question. We should have included that. When we spoke to the customer they had no idea how or when it could of happened. The world will never know.
The wall of shame.

Chinese tractor!!! That looked factory gasket to me 😂😂😂
@@lewisgardner1660 But it ran for 300 hours???
Starter was probably saying, "Thank you Jesus for finding the problem!!"
🤣
Good call 👌 as a mechanic i had a volvo in few year bk on start and run for few second and cut out handfull of people loaded the "" parts canon "" cost customer about £1700 in parts and labour😢 i had a trainee so just sat watching everything (kept firing time after time ) but eventually i seen a small boost pipe off turbo moving so i disconnected pipe one end and ran till keyed off 👍👌 the boost pipe had delaminated on inside of oil going through previous turbo failure and system had traces in which then deteriorated inner line cause it flex when firing up causing the ""intermittent "" run under vacuum till suffocated itself🤷 cost then to me ""customer" £100 for my time and boost pipe installed 👌👍👏 perseverance pays sometimes thanks for time @ ADS from uk 👋
I heard a similar story last weekend, a famous engine builder could not a recently built turbocharged diesel pulling tractor engine to run. Many people worked on it checking cam timing, injection pump, injectors etc. and still could not get it to run. This investigation went on for over a year. A junior employee was told to disassemble the engine for a complete inspection and rebuild. When he pulled the turbocharger off of the engine, he found the intake manifold packed solid with peanut shells. No one else had looked at the inside of the intake manifold before.
Pay peanuts you get monkeys.
they pranked you! Good one!
You guys did it right, everything is correct on the intake side and working properly, has to be something on the exhaust side. I was thinking the exhaust gasket on the head was blocked but you found it at the disassembly.
Good Job !
You were setup...
FYI, when I went to trade school in the 70's the auto class had a diagnosis competition very much like this. The teachers would purposely do something to a cars engine to see how long it would take the students to fine the problem and make it run again. Some were simple ( plug wire off) or extremely hard ( fuel line cut and timing off ) . Great time back then.
Love watching your videos, Thanks !
Great video, that was a first for me and I'm 71 years old.
LOL I'm 74 and you're right
First for us too!
When I saw that gasket my eyes popped!
I had drawn a blank with my guess. Looks like I was actually quite close!
Winner😂😂😂😂😂
I think the farmer wanted to see just how good you guys are. I know WWW and C&C and diesel creek like you.
That starter is loving you guys. ✌️
That was fun. I was scratching my head as well. Good Job.
That’s class guys, someone’s playing games with you all. Good video 👍🏻
The old potato in the tail pipe trick. We use to have a helper that use to sneak out of work early all the time . I got him with that one when the caught on after 3rd or 4th time . I just pick up his truck with the lull and put cinder blocks under the rear axle . Couldn't get in trouble it was the owner of the company's kid and he drove the company truck.🍻
hahahahaha neuvěřitelný příběh. díky za to video. budu to vyprávět kolegům v práci. neuvěřitelné. 👍
I liked the farmer joke at the end, And I subscribed
Great job Curtis
Did you take this in on April 1st?
That reminds me of some of the "bugs" our shop instructors would inflict on engines in the final class of live Diesel engines for us students to figure out when I went to Nashville Auto Diesel College back in 1970. The instructors had a few tricks up their sleeves to disable an engine that we had to try to locate and fix and get the engine running. I remember one of the tricks they had was an empty can that they painted the inside flat black and shoved it into the rubber air intake hose. Unless you ran your hand up inside the hose or shined a light into it you would not know it was there.
That is undoubtedly the wildest, craziest thing I have ever seen in my 40+ years of diesel equipment fleet maintenance!
Y'all are awesome! Such excellent customer service!!!
That was a head scratcher.i thought of timing an something slipped or someone. Then you showed taking the muffler off and then I said wait an why.some folks need to be spectators. Good catch.good video.stick to will figure it out till we get it fixed.Area diesel top notch.
Pretty fun. Thanks for posting. 😊Steve
LOL, that’s gold, I wonder if one of his mates played a prank on him, or someone deliberately sabotaged it ??
Fascinating.
4:04...I heard a genie sneezzin' and laughin' at the same time !!! A.D to the rescue !!!....11:24...😁😂😃or an Arkansas Traveller ( I mean that in the musical sense : an album by Michele Shocked ...)
Good video and yes, I got it right!! The old boy still got it
Exhaust blocked was your answer, right? But did your answer include a custom cut plate? 🤔
I guessed a slipped fuel pump timing, never would have guessed an intentionally blocked exhaust.
The comedy writes itself some days.
I have seen that done before
Timeing would be my next step .
That was cute! :D
Customer said....!
Only problem was previous gasket maker/installer forgot the weight saving feature - centre hole. That will do it every time. Good item for your wall of shame. Question. How do you charge the customer for this diagnosis? Or do you chalk it up to looking after the customer? Retired mechanic/machinist in Land Down Under.
That's the new EPA gasket to prevent sulfur emissions.
That’ll do it 😂😢 homemade fix gone wrong 😂
So which one of that guys neighbors did he piss off? LOL
Someone's been had!
Now that the edit is over seen this only twice in my life both times the piece of plant had been layed up and somebody fitted a blanker to protect the engine from water ingress
Is that where watch wes work location ?
Is that one of those home made diesel exhaust particulate filters
The gasket maker forgot to install the required pre-drilled hole. That will do it every time.
Banana in the tail pipe trick.
Thought I’d seen it all! Curtis is that the off season rodent block gasket ;) The farmer joke is appropriate for this mind boggling human error.
If the owner was bragging about his cheep tractor to his layed off John Deere employee friend. That could make it a four hole - revenge device!
@AreaDieselService
My father bought a 4 cylinder petrol/kerosene TE20 tractor around ± 1975 from his brother's farm who said it had no power for plowing and could only pull a trailer.
Normally you start of with petrol and switch over to kerosene when hot.
Well we bought a plough for it and while ploughing the TE20 would gradually lose power until it just dies and wouldn't start at all. If left for an hour to cool down it would start immediately, and the cycle would repeat itself over and over.
During fault finding my father removed the air cleaner rubber hose to carburetor and found that someone forced the rubber pipe onto the carburetor and the first inner lining of the rubber hose bent back and almost fully restricted and act as a big rubber choke at the inlet side of the carburetor. My father fitted a new rubber house and then the TE20 was better than ever!!
(The first Ferguson TE20 tractor, affectionately known as the ‘Vaaljapie’ in South Africa, rolled off the assembly line in Coventry in the UK on 6 July 1946. More than half-a-million were built over the next 10 years.)
Thumbs up 👍 for the unknown!
Thanks! 👍
Hi Tyler :}
It probably was either Moe, Curly or Larry 😂 who installed the gasket.
Looks like something Shemp would do.
The seal did holdup. 😂
I guess Cata-Clean wouldn't have fixed that back pressure issue. Sometimes one has to wonder "What were they thinkin"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Sounds like the muffler bearings are going bad. Check the Johnson rod, it could bent.
Ahhh, the old Chineseium Tractor King, look at it in its natural habitat! 😂😂👍🏻👌🏻🛠️🔧🔩🛢️🤔🚧🏗️⚠️🚜⚡💥💨
Interesting! 🤔🤷🏻♂️

The kanuten valve wasn't open so engine couldn't operate!
The rice chamber reservoir wasn't filled up!?
Left directional fluid reservoir was empty, so engine won't start!
But seriously.... exhaust blockage somehow?
Great videos, but please sort out the audio clipping and distortion
Hello customer, this is the shop.
Hi, do you have some news for me about my tractor?
Yep, we sure do!
Great, what is it?
Well, after we did extensive testing and troubleshooting over a period of two days, we discovered you needed a hole, so we fitted one. Tractor is now running great, that'l be $150 please...
You want me to pay $150 FOR A HOLE????
No sir, we gave you the hole for free, the charge is for the labor and skill required to find you needed it.
Like brand new, slightly used
If the rest of the world could see what customer service really is.
First I thought valve timing, then a bluetooth crank shaft, then squirrel damage or mice building a nest in the exhaust manifold but, the mice never made it that far, they couldn't get past the aluminium plate that someone put in to stop them.
Just curious if you think the engines in Tractor King's are ok?
I was thinking exhaust restriction, but that is NOT what I had in mind.
Great job ,I'll bet the owner will be embaresd
Jeez 😲 😂
There is two type of people whos not happy right now,the ovner of this tractor and this person who had make this blind gasket to fool the ovner so he get out of clue to fix the problem and sell the tractor cheap,i got an day ja who on this movie of something who happen to an friend and his snowmobile, there someone had fun whit the wirning to the cdi
Well Wouldyalookatthat🤓
LOL ,LOL I collect hit and miss engines, and about 10? yrs ago I was reading a post on Smokstak of a new guy getting into them, and wrote that no matter what, he couldnt a common easy engine to run, after he put a new head gasket he made on, and people posting telling him to take the head back off, and, he wrote back, WITH a picture of what he done, LOL Uhmm, a LOT of people had a fun time with that, when he didnt cut the center out for the valve, cyl area, well YEAH. Had a buddy I hung out in high school with call me up, he had bought a old Jubilee Ford to brush hog with, and had already cleaned the tank, rebuilt carb, new plugs, points condenser, checked timing numerous times , and the wiring , and I was the last resort. He would brush hog, running real good, if he hit a bump it would act just like he put the choke on, and flood the engine so bad, it would dump gas in oil, let it sit for a while, it run fine until a bump was hit, on my way over he was changing the gas oil again, thought he would change the oil bath aircleaner, when he emptied it into the oil bucket he heard a PLOP, and then a HORID smell so bad he almost lost his supper, somehow , someway, a MOUSE had gotten through the screen on air cleaner inlet, and drowned in the oil and sink to the bottom, when you hit a bump it would suck up against the air inlet going to the carb and CHOKE it unmercifully!! LOL
Allergy in the fuel and there maybe a in line fuel strainer no sign of a filter in the line but there may be like caterpillar did in the 80 and 90s
looks to me like the exh gasses cant get out?
Who made that gasket, Ray Charles or Stevie Wonder?
who would do something like that
If your statement that fuel, induction and compression states are normal is true then it must be exhaust?
My guess would be mistimed injection pump, probably 180 off.. but only because Diesel Creek hat such a problem with his army truck.. otherwise I'd never guess an engine could run like that.
I thought restricted exhaust.
Nailed it.
Timing!
I think someone didn’t like the owner and was messing around with him.
Now that’s funny Duh
LOL!!
haha!
Lol
😂😂,
Some farmer do pretend to be mechanic but if you self learn how usually work out good , i can all most garanty that a farmer didnt put that blank in that manifold, it was probab ly some who thought they were a farm but was and office boy or the bully kid from school, in other words a city boy or should i say a sissy boy
Shade tree mechanic. Trying to sell a new tractor and get a working one for free or cheap.
Never considered sabotage. May have been.
Yeah that's the problem was built by the Chineseiums
I'm gonna say made in China.😂
I know whats wrong, its made in China.
That’s crazy thanks for sharing great job guys
Thanks for watching!
