Can't thank the crew at Area Diesel Service enough! Top quality customer service and my machine runs awesome! Ill have a video coming out soon with the repaired pump
Too funny, the lab tech with the white coat cracked me up with that high tech language put me into a tail spin, luck ale I was able to pull up and dry my eyes thanks for 73DiamondReo, I will save this video and add to my play list, good job.
What makes it funnier is that it's a 250/350/400 TH transmission outline (with added bits on the front bottom). As someone who used to build racing engines and transmissions, i found it hilarious.
Amazing how complicated this pump is and how many separate pieces are in it considering the overall size of it. It is extremely enjoyable to watch the process and learn about it. The technician does an outstanding job of explaining everything. This is a great UA-cam channel!
Please frame that VA poster! This is kinda special as it´s the English version and many of these went to the bin decades ago, even in Germany. Kind Regards from Bosch Country.
I really enjoy watching your repairs. And technical explanations of how they work. And great comedy with that old transmission videos. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺 🦘
Just got my pump back a week or so ago and was excited about putting it on. Got it installed and then before I could even get it turned over a couple times, the starter died. Mine was a Stanadyne DBG pump for a 1968 Case 580CK 188D.
Shout out to the host didn't catch your name excellent video one of the best I've ever seen. Area Diesel since 1973 great year I just bought a 1973 International 2500 b hydrostatic drive backhoe. I started it maybe a dozen times checking it over very little reverse when you first start it cold then no reverse after a couple minutes. I also found the hi neutral low shift arm broken off it drives 5mph so it's in low and unfortunately I can't get neutral. I just wanted to dig my water line in figured if I couldn't fix reverse I should still be able to dig it in but no it won't start now I can't put it in neutral so I can't move it as it's blocking my damn driveway 😡 It looks like a VA on my pump tag but I don't have that electric shut off my cable pulls against a spring loaded stop assembly. I believe Scott from greene creek farms sent you a pump like mine I got to @73DiamondReo from there and then made my way over to ADS 😊 I'll be reaching to you soon and again thanks for the quantity content and work you all do for the old iron lovers out there 💯👍
Not a bad price really. Rotary pumps are generally not too bad to repair unless the head needs replaced. Then it can get expensive. The Turbo Encabulator bit is somehow perfect for this pump. 👍 Cheers
Excellent. Thank you I wish I newof you guys 35 years age but back the youtried to find a good local guy no internet or limited mail order parts back then and sometimes parts location took weeks
Possibly one of the mounting bolts can be replaced with a different bolt… external torx, hexhead Allen bolt. Might slow a pump thief, or maybe they just move on. You get the idea.
An excellent video! If I ever have a Diesel pump issue the unit will be shipped to Area Diesel. I’m not going to do more than clean it up for shipping.
Great video. I wonder how long it took the speaker in the 'Vintage Parody' to be able to spout all the BS coherently without stuttering. An amazing conglomeration of non-sensical terms having no meaning, but sounding technical and intelligent. Thanks for sharing.
"LIKE" button has been torqued to the manufacturer's recommended specification. "CLICK". God forbid you should be running around with a loose "LIKE" button !
that pricing caught me off guard! i just got a quote for a rebuild of this exact pump on a backhoe like this and they said starting at $2,000 and that didnt include half the stuff yall did to it!, almost makes it worth the 12 hr drive for me. ive honestly contemplated scrapping the backhoe based off my quote but i may just do more price shopping.
$800 was a really fair price for Frank. Now as long as Matt keeps running dirty or antique fuel, at least he can pay their [power bill as far as lighting goes. And 10/4 on the Turbo Encabulator. The IRS will send out rebuild kits with tax forms this year.
You mention that the @19:15 time frame that the machine supplies a specified pressure TO THE PUMP, aren't a majority, if not all just gravity fed?, from a tank maybe a foot above the pump? I find all this very interesting and would like to understand that a little better. Thanks.
we have one of these pumps tractors runs great but just will not start hot or cold, very little smoke when cranking so go knows whats wrong with it lol
I have a pump exact same I’m having issue getting throttle and fuel shut off right. I’m about ready to pull it and send it too you. It runs etc. the fuel shutoff spring is also git me. I cannot figure it out 😅
It seems to me that those rotary style pumps were made almost exclusively for the american market.. I've never seen any of those in Europe, its all Bosch row type pumps. I wonder how that came to be, especially since those rotary pumps seem less durable and more finneky on the insides.
In Germany there are lots of them. VW (and all its brands) used them in Millions of cars , beginning with the Golf MK1 diesel, to the VP44 in many different TDI Motors. My Ford Transit MK2 from 1983 also has one. Whats really rare is the type of governor, as i have only seen mechanical governors , or electronics. They are also pretty reliable. Sometimes they tend to leak , and get destroyed by trying to fix that (like in the video, and i also did it myself one time...)
Rotary pumps cost less to build. That is why you tend to find them on VW engines. Mercedes usually has an inline pump. This may have been especially important when building equipment that was never meant to be rebuilt.
@@derbruzzler7574 I checked back on some stock photos, you're actually right, for some reason I always remembered the 1.6 Diesel to have an inline pump. I don't know about any later engines, never had a TDI so no memories there.

Nothing like a hoe for odds and ends.
I really enjoyed the vintage educational film video. I had to laugh when that parody came in. They got the voice right though.😅
Glad you enjoyed it
And the Parody Guy was able to keep a straight face the whole time!!

I was thinking I lost my mind and forgot everything until I saw vintage parody, whew. Great job as always.

Fantastic video and editing. Thanks guys!
Most definitely! Last pump I had rebuilt was 5 years ago and cost me $1100

Thank you for giving insight in diesel pump tech. Love the positive vibe and company attitude. Greetings from The Netherlands.

And just remember this folks, this pump and many others were designed and made without computers.

Ta very mucha, I have a ve pump on a vehicle and it's always interesting to know a little more about it's operation.

Really enjoyed the editing of the old video.
Nice intro!
HA HA HA HA! That parody I haven't seen since I was at GM schools. '70's & '80's!!!!! Thanks for the smile!
Excellent. Thank you I wish I newof you guys 35 years age but back the youtried to find a good local guy no internet or limited mail order parts back then and sometimes parts location took weeks
Man I sure would love to have one of those timing piston gauges to observe advance!

I have a va on a deutz that seems to have problems revving up rpms always feels like its being held back by the governor.
