During the last week- Wednesday to Sunday, I repaired the front headlight adjusters, replaced the left front wing, replaced the chrome trims of the bumper cover and put it all back in place... I would only have one thing I learned: when putting back the bumper cover, I found it useful to loosen - just a bit - the plastic pieces ("tags and slots") that are attached to the front side wings to ease the bumper cover back in place, and tighten the plastic parts back in place with a spanner once the bumper cover is back on. Otherwise, I wanted to say that of all x-type front bumper UA-cam tutorials, yours is absolutely the most useful, the most explanatory, and shortly - the best! Thank you so much sir for making it possible! Cheers from Slovenia!
Thank you v much for letting me know how you got on with repairing your X-type. you are very kind to say my video was useful, but it is the only way I know to make a video. I like to show the details that are needed when doing a job. More videos to come. Great car :-)
I just bought one of these and have problems with one lowbeam. Thank you very much, nice and cool Hope mine works that easy. From Sweden with the salty roads
My front strip under the number plate is broken so this will come in handy when I remove the bumper to take.off the broken part and fit some nice mesh in its place.
Thanks. Took me longer as I was filming it, but it is a fairly easy job if you're at all handy. I would give it 20 mins off 15 on (tip - don't rush it) :-)
You will need to get them out and replace the clips and bolts which may prove difficult if they are locked in or spinning around. If they spin the clip may have damaged the surounding material so is to be avoided. Soaking with penatrating fluid helps. If you can't get to hold the clip on the back, drilling or grinding out the head will probably be the best option.
Yes I guess i’ll have to investigate it over the weekend. One of the jet washers got inside the bumper and I am not being able to pull up without removing the bumper. I also have two parking sensors not working. Just bought a ser of driver 🔧 for the job! Thanks for the video, very straight forward.
@@xnetcascais ah yes I understand now sorry I haven't done a video on this, but I will look into it. It maybe fairly easy to do with just a few bolts after taking the plastic liner out. Thank you :-)
@@HatBoyHarvey it can be easy but because there are no videos in yt and sometimes jag engineers like to invent stuff, for example in xjs its a nightmare :)
I don't understand why some say that this isn't an easy work to remove that bumper. Can't see anything difficult or time-consuming in this video. What could be the reason?
@@HatBoyHarvey Ah okay, thanks for the response. But otherwise how much time would you consider for a shop to replace a headlight? From the video it looks like less than an hour.
Thanks for reminding me, I have just done that, but not yet compiled the video, should out soon. Easier job with bumper off, but can be done without. It is tight on drivers side and near impossible with big hands on the other without removing the battery + holder. Took me 2 hours, but that included filming and polishing the headlight covers :-)
@Harvey You can take off the headlights (I don't mean replacing the bulbs) without removing the bumper? I thought the bumper was over the headlights, so they won't come out without removing the bumper. At least I won't have to remove the covers of the headlight washer jets because they have already fallen off and never been replaced ;-)
If you have still got some of the bolt shaft left and can get purchase on it try soaking it overnight with penetrating fluid and use mole-grips or failing that use a bolt extractor or drill it out and then re-tap to clean the thread out (not an easy task, but at least it is easy to get at :-)
Pulling the cap off of the jet washer is the WRONG WAY! One or more of the holders will bracke! Above the jets is a clipping system with a lash on it. Hold the pulled out jet, slightly pull this lash upward and the whole jet will come off. After reinstalling the bumper, push the jet slowly in till the cover fits with the bumper.
the best front bumper removal guide, for me
Thanks my friend, I really appreciate that, keeps me motivated :-)

Thank you so much I really appreciate it here in Chicago
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it :-)
Thourough process exactly what I was looking for. Thx
You're very welcome :-)

Hope mine works that easy. From Sweden with the salty roads
Have a look at the fuses first under the bonnet. The lamp holders fail on these also. (F94 fuse inside glovebox also) fit new lamps :-)
@@HatBoyHarvey I gonna do that when Im open my eyes, thank you for that tips!! Must get one of those Haynes, or is there any more detailed books
Excellent nice cleat instructions and the music was nice and quiet Lol
Thanks 👍 glad you liked it. I don't put background music on at all now :-)
Thank you! Now I’m off to dremel out my fog light slots so that I can fit LEDs in there… Wish me luck!
You're welcome, hope the fog light idea works well :-)
@@HatBoyHarvey It took me all of 3 hours and looks amazing! Do be careful not to burn your fingers, though…
That hidden bolt behind the wheel liner is an absolute bastard the first time you try and get it out. Once you've done it once however its no problem!
Absolutely, until you take it out you can't really gauge if your doing it right and if it has corroded your in more trouble :-)
My front strip under the number plate is broken so this will come in handy when I remove the bumper to take.off the broken part and fit some nice mesh in its place.
This is a job I have do at the weekend, great video ,hope its as easy as you make it look ,ps how long did it take you?

What do I do if I stripped the T30 screws?

Well done. Nice & clear, and just what I was looking for. Thanks!
You're very welcome, glad to have helped :-)
Very good video. Would that be similar for a XJ x350?
Thanks, There are all relatively similar, but all different :-)

Does anyone know what sort of bolt i need to replace the 4 bolts above the headlights? 2 of mine are missing, the headlight is hanging down slightly.
Nice and clear; thanks!
👍
hi there, great video but by any chance do you have any video where you remove the front fender? greetings, Antonio
Not sure which part you mean?
@@HatBoyHarvey the fender or in mud cover of the front wheel.

Hey mate, is it difficult to remove the headlights from there? I need to clean them up, so I have to get them out completely.
Don't know, I'll have a look and maybe do a video on it, thanks :-)
I don't understand why some say that this isn't an easy work to remove that bumper. Can't see anything difficult or time-consuming in this video. What could be the reason?
Getting to that bolt under the wheel arch can be tricky, especially if it is rusty :-)

M6x20 :-)

well as usual it doesnt work. Nothing like an 09 headlamp washer
My headlamp washers don't work either and haven't had time or motivation to figure out why yet as they aren't exactly life threatening ;-)

Thanks for sharing that. I'll certainly look into that one :-)
Then get wd40 all over the drive so you can see where you did it years ago 😂😂😂😂
Very true, I will have to be more careful with that in future, thanks :-) 🙂
