- Rear tracking control arm replacement to insure that the toe settings for the rear tracking are maintained and tyre wear minimised This was done on a peugeot 406 hdi estate, but many other makes and models have the same or similar rear tracking system as found on the 406. The toe in setting is 3mm +/- 1mm
Find your videos very helpful currently doing my track arms at the moment although one side pivoit bolt is well and truly stuck,mot tomorrow so will have to crack on in the morning.
I have found some of these in car breakers. Some do come off easily and are very usable but some are stuck solid. This is the same when you come to do the job on your own car. Always wise to have a spare before starting the job. Lately I have always bought new ones from my local Peugeot dealer.

У меня Пежо 406 декабрь 2001г. 1,8 16кл. бенз.газ-евро-4. пробег /325000км. кузов в идеале, соли не видел, Но вот с мотором была проблемка, был прогар 4го. поршня. Поршень поставили б/у, и новые все кольца, Но сказали большой Элипс в цилиндрах, надо продавать /Льва/, а мне жалко, привык к нему, короче обкатал мотор , 1000км. за 2ку. на тахометре не вылазил, масло с фильтром поменял после обкатки, вроде всё в норме, масло не берёт, компрессия ровная , 11 во всех цилиндрах, но осадок на душе есть, что в мотор ныряли, да Элепс присутствует! Вот и думаю, толи котрактник искать, а это кот в мешке, толи дальше ездить ? Как его ещё протестировать, что бы убедится в его надёжности? /езда в спокойном - пенсионерском стиле, больше 3х. не кручу, масло Тотал, правда в этот раз залил 10w40, Не понравилось! В сырую погоду при -3 -5 масло пеной в картере , ну на щупе естественно, может подделка? Или опять перейти на синтетику? Вот и думаю, стоит в него вкладывать мани, или нет, я ведь такой, если что то, где то , с машинкой, трусы свои продам, а причину устраню! Жёны мои от этого Не радовались конечно, / а их у меня, только официальных, пятеро было/ . Но вот вроде остепенился и бросил якорь здесь, родился и вырос на Урале, а волей судеб, теперь живу в Украине с 1998г. Зови меня Саша, Саня, Шурик, как тебе удобней , и своё имя напиши, Ок? great vid many thanks--just done mine today--part was 22 quid from euro car parts--I was lucky and used the old bolt as came out ok. :)
You have to check the position and use otherwise your steering wheel will be off either right or left.... ..to but the ball joint back in is easier to use e lever just in that fork like space right to the socket and just press down. It will make it easier to slide in
I couldn't find them anywhere else other than the dealer. Order one with a nut, as the existing nut may be well worn like the one that was on my car.

On the Toe-In, are you sure it's 3mm +/- 1mm? My Haynes says 1.5mm +/- 0.5?

alright buddy i recently changed the stabiliser links on my 406 but the bolts are gubbed i need new ones wheres the best place to purchase them?? im based in falkirk area thanks buddy
Hi, Is there any camber adjustment on the rear wheels., or is it just the bolt head that needs adjustment? I have changed rear track-rod links and did not mark the bolts, now the car does not drive straight. Any idea, how can I fix it? Thanks

I am wondering if the toe setting is miles out ( the paint mark rubbed off when i was reassembling it) how do i set it . I mean where do i measure the 3mm from ?

The wheels on the rear axle should not be parallel, they should be 3 +/- 1mm less across the front rims compared with the back rims on the back axle at axle height. The best way to get a starting point is to look at one side and take a picture of it. Then go to the other side. The cam bolt position should be a mirror image of the photographed side. The measurement can be done with a steel tape measure. When you have finished the cam bolts should be a mirror image of each other. I know I said I would produce a tracking video but some was occidentally deleted and I have not had time to do it again. Hope this helps.

Hey, I have a 1.6 ltr peugeot 206 glx 2001.
I had to give way to a lorry, but to do I had to reverse to make room for him, in doing that I hit the curb with my nearside rear wheel and I heard a sound almost like a ring or something metal fall on the floor didnt think much of it.
Ever since that day that wheel when I go over 35 mph bounces up and down and people have stopped me to say they think my wheel is about to fall, its getting worse from what I gather it could the suspension arm?? How do I diagnose this and if it is the suspension arm how do I replace it??

Hello lookng for help finding rear track control arm for 03 406 estate looks a bit lke a banana with a bush at each end passenger side .fixes to subframe and back of hub.about 2 feet long .peugeot number 5175 e9 .fits some citreons i beleive but not sure what exactly any help from any body out there with information regarding the part or any help at all would be gratfully excepted. Just visited Olympic Peugeot in Stroud and the parts guy tells me he's had these eccentric bolts (rear camber adjustment bolts), on back order for 9 months. Peugeot keep cancelling his back order every time he submits it, (suppose it's easier than actually making the part in question), These are now like hobbyhorse doo doo's so if anybody has any info on where I could get two I'd be really grateful. Breakers are out as they always need cutting off with a grinder.
I notice you didn't mention you replaced the complete tracking arm as the old was completely rusty, and you never said how you got the bolt out of the bush apart from cutting the head off (that still leaves the rusty bolt seized in situ) Oh such editing!
The title of the video is "Rear tracking control arm replacement." It was replaced because the ball joint was badly worn not because it was rusty. This was affecting the tracking and was noisy. After the head was cut off I was able to manoeuvre the arm out with the rest of the bolt. There was no difficulty getting it out. As the arm was replaced and a new bolt was available, I was able to finish the job.
I thought I had pressed record when I cut the bolt and got the arm and the rest of the bolt out. But it was already recording and when I pressed record, it stopped the recording so nothing to edit.
Sorry sir but u made a small mistake. U should have done it in the reverse way so it could be more easy to not hammering the suspension link.
