  • How to remove the seats and most of the carpet from a Peugeot 406.
    This car is an MOT failure which i am breaking for parts, i am removing as many things as possible, in this video i focus on the interior specifically the seats and carpet, although this also includes the removal of bits of trim.
    As there are many things removed in this video you can skip on to specific times if you only want to see a certain part being removed, although the whole video may be useful if you purchased a leather interior and want to install it, or your current interior is in bad condition.
    The sections of the video are:
    - Front Seat: 0:02
    - Rear Bench: 0:41
    - Rear Seat Side Bolsters: 1:00
    - Boot Floor Carpet: 1:38
    - Rear Seat Backrest: 1:51
    - Rear Seatbelt Anchors: 2:47
    - Parcel Shelf: 3:53
    - Rear Seatbelt Reels: 4:27
    - Rear Speakers: 5:02
    - C pillar Trims: 5:17
    - Boot Side Carpet: 5:58
    - Centre Console: 6:50
    - Airbag ECU: 8:32
    - B Pillar Trim: 8:49
    - Inner Sill Trim: 9:00
    - Bonnet Release Catch: 10:06
    - Fuse box lid: 10:16
    - Lifting out rear carpet: 11:01
    This process was carried out on a 2000 Peugeot 406 HDi 90 which failed the MOT due to rusty sills

    Got everything out and ready to hit those seats with a high pressure washer machine. oh BTW I started the car and noticed that the airbag light is blinking.... I guess its because all plugs are disconnected right? .... Well anyways thanks a lot for all the great advises and please keep doing those great videos. for us to learn.

    1:14 I remember, our old 406 (2.0 Turbo Executive 1996) had the same problem with the door not staying open, so annoying.

    Very observantly noticed, yep these doors are not holding open, my own car the doors stay open although sometimes they squeak which isnt too bad, but this problem with the doors closing themselves gets annoying especially when the sharp corner hits your leg.
    Ill be stripping one of the doors down so i might be able to figure out if this problem can be fixed.

    Hey great video, I was wondering which year is the 406? Because I have a 406 from 97 and I want to install speakers in the back and a woofer in the trunk but I haven't been able to remove the rear seat. It seems like it is stuck and perhaps you can provide me with solution to this problem. I have tried the way you show in the video, and tried many different ways.

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  9 років тому +1

      This one was a 2000 406, a D9 facelifted one, but i would have thought the D8s had the same folding down rear seats, sometimes the catch can get a bit sticky in which case you need to put pressure on the seat while pulling the release handle

    Great video, thanx. I got one question, are seats the same on early model -99 and facelift 99-? Thank you

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  5 років тому +1

      Hi i think the seat dimensions are all the same although the designs changed a bit through the years and the connectors for the airbags, seatbelt pretensioners and seat motors may have changed. I dont think a 1996 seat will fit a 2003 car as the later cars had the multiplex wiring.

    Just wondering...... can I turn the car switch or start the car on after disconnecting all plugs and removing all front seats? Can seats get wet???? I'm trying to clean my car interior................Awesome Video by the way!

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  8 років тому

      Yes you can disconnect the seats remove them and then turn on the car, obviously driving it witout seats poses a challenge but the car will start ok, the dash will put on warning lights.
      Having said that if you just want to clean the carpet and i know between the seat and centre console is very tricky to clean. Generally i unbolt the seats once a year for a proper cleaning, without actually disconnecting the wires or seatbelt, the seat can be held aside when using the hoover.
      Yes seats can get wet, im guessing that may not be the correct context of the question?

  • @SebaZero

    Do you know if the facelift V6 model has the seat memory management in a box under the seat or it goes directly to the BSI?

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  4 роки тому +2

      The facelifted D9 cars in both petrol and diesel if equipped with seat memory will have the ECU under the drivers seat. Although it does talk to the BSI as you are able to control it somewhat with PP2000

    • @SebaZero
      @SebaZero 4 роки тому +1

      Thank for your reply. You have a lot of knowledge on this cars.
      Do you think it's possible to install and get it working without connecting to the BSI? I'll be direct with my question: I would like to install memory seats in my car (that has electric positioning but no memory), and I was wondering if buying a V6 seat with its ECU will be sufficient enough to do the work without touching my BSI (I have the fear of creating problems because it's delicate).

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  4 роки тому +1

      @@SebaZero Ah ive just been running them for 9 years, i dont know evertyhing about them yet haha.
      I think this has been covered on the 406 owners club 406oc.co.uk in the past. Ive never done the conversion myself as the saloon and estate ive had already came with it installed. But i do recall reading threads in the past of electric seats being retrofitted. You may do a bit of searching on the form, possibly ask on the facebook page if you are having trouble finding the right thread.

    At about 1 minute into the video whilst you're zooming in to show unbolting one of the side bolsters, there is a cable visible running along the floor of the car. Is that the cable release for the fuel flap? Where does it travel after the floor of the car? (As you can guess from my question, the lever on my car doesn't open the flap any longer!) Thanks, Andrew

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  6 років тому

      Hi
      It is quite likely that that is the fuel flap cable. I assume it goes though the floor out into the rear wheelarch where the fuel flap mechanism is.
      Check that it is indeed the cable, 406s dont normally do this. Pull up on the handle and have someone press the fuel flap, if it opens, then its not the cable. What can happen is the spring that flips the flap open when released can fail, It is possible to bend a clothes peg spring into shape to give the flap its spring back. A video i would like to do but just havent the time for.

    • @ebbelinderoth-olson230
      @ebbelinderoth-olson230 6 років тому +1

      On mine the spring was too weak so I added a spring from a laundry pin to the flap and now it works perfect.

      Ebbe Linderoth-Olson hi Ebbe, I don’t know why I didn’t see your reply until now, but I’m glad that I’ve seen it finally!
      Have you done the spring replacement like the owner of this channel suggested?
      Can you please give me a bit more detail about what you did to the spring and how you fitted it to the flap? A picture would also be helpful, but unless you have your own UA-cam channel, there’s no way to post one on here.
      Thanks!

    buenos dias tengo un 406 familiar año 2001 me está volviendo loco la luz del airbag no soy capaz de apagar y no tengo ni idea lo lleve a tres talleres me cambian una pieza de intermitentes que vaya al volante toda la pieza entera pero la avería no se saca he mirado muchos vídeos por internet dicen que el problema está debajo del asiento pero por más que miro corto sueldo los cables no soy capaz de apagar la luz de los airbag no me pasa la revisión por eso estoy desesperado 26-02-21 gracias

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  3 роки тому +1

      Hola,
      Por el precio de ir a 3 talleres para trabajos de diagnóstico, ¿podría estar acercándose al precio de una herramienta de diagnóstico PP2000? Alrededor de £ 40-50 aquí. Puede valer la pena conseguir uno de esos para poder mantener su 406 usted mismo.
      El PP2000 (Peugeot Planet) leerá los códigos de avería. La mayoría de las veces son los cables debajo de los asientos. Que es lo que cubrió mi video, en realidad estás en el video equivocado, echa un vistazo a través de este canal, cubro el problema de la bolsa de aire debajo del asiento con más profundidad:
      ua-cam.com/video/EyCN-LF4I9A/v-deo.html
      Este es otro video, no mío, pero cubre el 'resorte del reloj', la conexión entre el volante y la columna de dirección. Conecta el airbag a través del volante giratorio y también puede fallar:
      ua-cam.com/video/ULG_7_NOYVY/v-deo.html
      El PP2000, si está conectado a su 406, le dirá qué parte del sistema de bolsas de aire está defectuosa para que sepa ir directamente allí para solucionar el problema.
      Si tiene alguna pregunta, no dude en seguir preguntando, estaré feliz de ayudarlo. También encuentre la página de Facebook para este canal. Estoy feliz de responder cualquier pregunta usándola si es necesario.

    "Carefully disconnect the plugs under the seat before removal" you say ? Thanks, but I can work that out for myself ! WHERE do I disconnect them ? When I take the seats out of anything else, there is a multi-plug - I separate it and job done. There is no single multi-plug on the Peugeot Coupe seats that I can find, so it appears that for no good reason, I have to start snipping the cable-ties and trace every single blasted wire. What use is a high-speed video for seeing what and where ? I was hoping for a bit of assistance, not a Charlie Chaplin routine !
