i like how the ump just pleads the 5th there, too. i have no recollection of the events in question -.- i think it was the correct call tho. zverev had already made up his mind towards the ball being out and not taking a proper swing at it. so it actually was advantage vesely right here on planet earth ;P

Tennis commentators are bizarrely ignorant, almost all them, I mean they could at least hire someone that watched tennis more than a couple of time in life. Man in 2021 Olympics was ridiculous, the ESPN commentator didn't know the difference between unreturned service and an ace he thought when the player returns but the ball goes out or into the net means ace hahaha I laughed
@@alancosta4760 What you described is unforced error. A serve which is returned, but goes out in any way (long or wide) or hits net is unforced error for your opponent. An unreturned serve is an ace unless it goes out or hits the net.

the umpires usually do not tell if the ball is in or out on their own every time. There are line judges who stand facing the line so they can see if it was in or out and use hand signals to send the message to umpire. The umpire can then go or change the call. I think that’s how it works.
Medvedev has valid points here. First what is the actual purpose of a supervisor. They never do anything. And the ball thing should have been a first serve. He clearly saw it while medvedev was in motion.

Accident or not, Osta makes such horrible serve it should open up for adjust the rules in doubles for receive serve, to only apply to player(s) standing in the valid side of receive court. Look at scores, that cheap point couldn't come more handy...

Overall very rare. If the umpire's call is based on judgement, never. If based on fact, then possible, because the umpire could get the simple fact wrong and get overturned by the supervisor, like in the Hsien - Cibulkova incident.

I don’t think she meant it as since she’s never made the mistake before, she wouldn’t have made it then. Most tennis players are ESL, just gotta respect that and try to look at what they’re saying with a mature mind.

Nice videos with subtitles. Perfect. About last ball (serving directly in the oponent body)I always wonder what would happen if this is happening and this is the first time I see it. ATP/WTA must give a rule for this and the empire can overrule the body shot calling it out. There are several cases when you can hit a masive shot directly in the other player's body while the other player is clearly outside the tennis court. Avoiding a rapid ball comming at you from oponnent have nothing to do with tennis skills.
Why are umpires allowed to get away with mistakes unpunished? They must be fined at least 5% of their earnings for every mistake they commit or equivalent to what the players are fined, whichever is higher!

About last ball (serving directly in the oponent body)I always wonder what would happen if this is happening and this is the first time I see it. ATP/WTA must give a rule for this and the empire can overrule the body shot calling it out. There are several cases when you can hit a masive shot directly in the other player's body while the other player is clearly outside the tennis court. Avoiding a rapid ball comming at you from oponnent have nothing to do with tennis skills.

Why are umpires allowed to get away with mistakes unpunished? They must be fined at least 5% of their earnings for every mistake they commit or equivalent to what the players are fined, whichever is higher!
