Coronavirus? Not really a "drama/controversy" thing but it's super important for it to have exposure especially with it spread to already 5+ countries and could tie in to vaccinations **Edit: this virus had the potential to be deadly to those who catch it and has already killed people, yet I don't see many youtubers talking about it or even briefly mentioning it
How controversial are you trying to get? Because people aren’t talking about Nikkie Tutorials hiding her sexual identity to her fiancé for the longest time...
I got called racist for saying I didn’t like Lizzo. They said that I didn’t want a woman of color to succeed but failed to realize that I myself am a woman of color.
@@mauve2121 well it’s tricky when you say things like this because it says nothing about us but more about the Industry we have created. when a plus sized creator blows up the first thing plus sized people think is “finally someone like me someone I can relate to that people actually praise and look up to” therefore putting then onto a pedestal because that’s what people do with famous people especially when they can finally relate to them after years of being told that your body type isn’t accepted. And guess what’s wrong with that? Nothing. Nothing is wrong with plus sized people idolizing plus sized celebrities because think about how many well-liked plus sized celebrities there are? Let’s think of off the top of our head: lizz- oh wait we don’t like her anymore adele- oh wait she isn’t plus sized anymore (which there is nothing wrong with) Meghan train- oh wait she is irrelevant………anywayyy all I’m saying is that there aren’t many main stream plus sized creators out there, therefore whenever a plus sized person gets famous, plus sized people tend to idolize and look up to them for making it despite the societies beauty standards holding them back AS THEY SHOULD there is nothing wrong with that. Thank you.
Exactly, even though I don't agree with the hate, I can understand why some people don't like her it's just the body shaming does not help their argument so I wholeheartedly agree with what you said
Insane lover69 I don’t like body shaming at all .but what I see often is if a severely underweight person was as confident as and performed on stage like her the media would be in a uproar. Double standards
Bringing up her appearance to insult her is one thing, but I’d like to bring up the fact that she’s only popular because she’s fat. If she was skinny nobody would even know her name. She’s only famous because other people with weight issues feel like they need representation. And don’t think I’m bashing fat people because I’m also fat and I’m probably gonna die at 25 of heart failure. My personal philosophy about weight is, why would you want to be fat? Like being fat is bad for both your physical and mental health and if somebody is confident about being fat they’re most likely lying and have wicked bad body image issues.
I cannot believe how well D’Angelo predicted her character. She is absolutely someone who abused/abuses her power and you sniffed it out from the get go.
Shame breeds narcissistic tendencies ... if you hid your disappointment behind positivity, as D'Angelo explains he could detect, those feelings become shame. Actual truth from within will set you free.
notice how he didn't mention lizzo's weight when criticizing all the problematic shit she's done? that's how you realize it's actual criticism and not just "fat woman bad"
@@shonamcandrew1653 I get that but Lizzo's dress had literal cut-outs for her whole butt cheeks. Cheerleaders are dressed very skimpy, yes, and if one is concerned for the children they should complain about that too, but you can't say that there isn't a difference between skimpy shorts and having buttcheek cutouts in a dress.
@@shonamcandrew1653 I feel like if cheerleaders were dressed in bodycon skirts with cutouts for their bare buttcheeks, people would be complaining just as much. Until then, unfortunately, all of this is speculation.

Being overweight is not the same thing as being a POC, and acting like racism and "fatphobia" are the same is ignorant. @@kaitlynm9463 no convert narcissism is under the umbrella and there are different kinds under the narcissism umbrella just like for example wavy or coily hair is under the curly hair umbrella.
@CASSIE Lovera yeah, but with covert and fragile narcissism, it is based more on insecurities than say control or a grandiose mentality, which are main characteristics of the other types of narcissism. There's a reason they've broken down different types of narcissists, all still under the umbrella of narcissism.
@CASSIE Lovera I never said the others weren't insecure. Narcissism develops typically from needs not getting met as a child, etc. which of course is obvious insecurities, but the different types each have main qualities vs lesser qualities, you were "correcting" the person for no reason. Yes, it's all still narcissism, but it doesn't take away the fact that people with NPD usually fall into one of the categories based on the characteristics they display. Narcissism is more than just ways to get attention.
At first glance that statement is easy to agree with but when you realize people are human, flawed, and never perfect then this statement makes no sense. Therapists constantly preach messages of self love, growth and health all the while many of them are in therapy themselves to make it happen in their own lives. That doesn't mean they shouldn't be helping others if they aren't perfect with it yet. Great video though! I'd love to have a conversation with you about the mind and human behavior. Keep it up!
@@roxie10xoxo I think it's ok to not be perfect but if you hate yourself it would be irresponsible to tell other to love themselves but I think if your somewhere in the middle of the spectrum I think it is ok to teach others something as you learn it yourself
@@someguy4046 The problem with your philosophy is that we don’t know virtually anything about her. Chances are, you don’t know Lizzo personally, you only know what she chooses to showcase, so comments about her weight or her lifestyle or what she should/shouldn’t be doing are, by nature, uneducated and repulsing. Gaining weight or weight loss is a very very personal topic, it’s just that the results are obvious visually. Plus, metabolism is important to take into consideration. Two people’s bodies could process food very differently, and if you saw a skinny person with diabetes would you yell at them to do better?? No, you wouldn’t, because the ramifications of their choices aren’t visible to you. There’s also the argument that “well I just want them to be healthy”. No, you don’t. I know that for an absolute fact, because if you did and if her body shamers did they wouldn’t be calling her a “whale” or “disgusting” or “blob”, etc. Mental health is just as important as physical health, plus as I’ve mentioned before you don’t know her life and you should be focusing on yourself, so while we should all strive to be the healthiest version of ourselves healthy looks different on everyone, we’re all on different journeys (it’s not your business to comment on anyone else’s), and bullying somebody is only going to demotivate them to switch their life choices.
@@someguy4046 I understand that at a certain point, it’s impossible to be healthy at your size, and in no way am I trying to disprove that. While I do firmly believe that “healthy” does not equal this very narrow definition exacerbated by the media, all sizes are not healthy. But, all sizes are beautiful, because a person’s personal journey to better themselves is not anybody’s else’s business. We can support somebody in becoming the healthiest version of themselves- if that means losing weight than so be it- without putting them down or adding to the voices in their head that call them lazy or unworthy. That being said, I know you aren’t necessarily putting overweight people down. But to your point about how we shouldn’t normalize being overweight in particular with celebrities, I disagree. Say you’re going through a really hard time, and because of this you gain weight. Feeling like the only person going through a weight gain, or especially feeling like the only plus size person/feeling as though people at your weight can’t be successful must be awful to deal with. You don’t see yourself represented in the media, and therefore it could be hard to find motivation. Plus, there’s a difference between body positivity and promoting obesity. Body positivity is the movement saying we all deserve to be happy regardless of our size, we all deserve respect regardless of visible symptoms of a possibly unhealthy lifestyle, and nobody is better than the other just because we were blessed with the resources to remain or become a smaller size.
I remember seeing this video years ago and somewhat agreeing with a lot of the points presented in this video while also not outright hating her or sometimes even defending her from the actual racist or fatphobic people that were genuinely nasty to her. Now that the news and allegations about her broke out I'd say that this video somewhat aged well with the accusations of toxic positivity having a form of truth to them.
She also gets rude with random women during interviews. I’ve dealt with women like that and they just think confidence equates to acting like a mean girl. Her voice is beautiful but her attitude is trash.
Is it women or just men too? It took me awhile to realize how my insecurities about myself caused me to act mean and catty around women because I thought they were better than me. I wonder if she gets jealous of the women?
@@alexisd6106 It's sad that some women need to act like that and treat other women like that because they feel like they have to, it shows how brainwashed and misogynist society is.

This generation is too sensitive. She's fat and it can be unhealthy, maybe she should lose weight and take care of herself more when it comes to consumption. Is that fat shaming? No. It's being genuine enough to look out for someone else's health instead of being quiet about it because you are afraid they will take it the wrong way but hey, the truth does hurt
Dude, go on one of her pics on insta, read the comments, and just look at the shit people put. Most of them aren’t giving valid criticism, they just go and be like “damn, fatass bitch”
the double standard of her walking around with her entire ass out at events is mind-boggling to me. i just can’t help but feel like if someone like the Jenners did that, they’d be blown up to the highest degree
i'm usually for women being able to wear whatever they want and that they shouldn't be sexualized, but what lizzo did at the basketball game was uncalled for. there's a time and place for everything...
Avacados & Pirates YES and she danced and showed her butt. I honestly think it’s hypocritical how cheerleaders are allowed to show their body off but all hell breaks loose when she did it idkidk
I think the difference is that cheerleaders are getting paid to be there- they are part of the whole thing- lizzo was in the audience... people didn't go there to see her make this whole thing about her... i love lizzo but she really didn't had to do that
While Dangelo was right I also find something else quite frightening. How come when the allegations came out peoples attention went straight for Lizzo’s weight but not the victims of the crime? All of this talk about body positivity and shit only for her fans and the media to switch up real quick with fat phobia everywhere. The girls who were victims of Lizzo are literally big/thick women and when they tried to tell there story all y’all can do is focus the aggressors weight. Some of y’all definitely got your priorities mixed up.
This is the same thing when news stories come about a black person committing a crime, and the comments all get severely racist even if the crime victimized another black person, in a way that you never see in equally severe crimes committed by a white person victimizing any race combination. I think so many more people are bigots than those who self-identify as that, so when they see a person of X group is terrible, they see it as an excuse to stop pretending they didn't automatically judge them on their race/gender/sexuality/weight/height/etc. It's the idea that to these people, members of a certain minority group or that look a certain way have to earn basic human respect, so if they're not respectable as a _person_ then those superficial or immutable traits are not valid in them. If you're not "one of the good ones" then hate speech is acceptable. It's bigotry masquerading as judging on the content of character.
yeah, so many people's criticisms of lizzo, before or after the stuff about her came out, mostly just boiled down to "she's fat and i don't like it", it's frustrating how people paid less attention to the fact she did bad things and more just used it as an opportunity to mock her appearance and be able to be on the moral high ground for it because "she's a bad person so it's okay" or whatever.
As a kpop stan, I think the kpop community can be a really good example of “toxic positivity” as well. The way that stans constantly praise “their” idols is definitely not healthy. If you ever mention a mistake that the idol has made or give them constructive criticism, the community will immediately become defensive and shut you down. After this video, I’ve started noticing a lot of parallels between that behavior and how people treat Lizzo, too.
I've seen this behavior in a lot of MCU stans as well. Especially the Tessa Thompson stans, who are STILL supporting her even tho she said herself in twitter that she liked the cuties Netflix movie. So yeah, the mcu fandom can also be a pretty good example idk why nobody talks about that lol
Asian pop idols fanbases are toxic in general. You can literally comment "I don't like his music and I think his acting is bad" and you would be BURIED in hundreds of fangirls trying to find where you live slaughter your entire family. Don't ask me how I know.
lizzo has talked about not being confident before she became big but i sometimes feel shes still not confident and is being forced to pretend she is because thats become her brand it makes me sad tbh...like it feels like she has no choice but to be a lil fake to her audience and i would prefer personally her be completely genuine, even if it went against what her brand has built up but ...i still love her either way
SoarinSasha I completely agree. She’s become her community’s fairy godmother of self esteem and probably is pushed into leading by example, regardless of what she actually is feeling.
I think she just gets a lot of validation from other people viewing and commenting off of her body, which is where her “confidence” and “self worth” comes from. It’s fake confidence if you ask me.
Meow Cuizon that’s the world of celebrity culture.... I think that’s why Beyoncé barely says anything unless at concerts or in her lyrics but it still eludes to the fact that the people behind the scenes want others to idolize human beings as Gods... ImNoahB Umm... ew, so you're disgusting. Imagine not being able to process the existence of people who have a different body type than you do. What a silly person😂 You're so silly!
That’s not self confidence that’s being obnoxious and overbearing and disrespecting everyone else’s space. If an average person showed up in a cutaway dress and started tweeking they’d be thrown out and possibly arrested. Celebrities who are so entitled they know they can break every rule of decent behavior and get away with are not to be admired
people who think critizing lizzo for anything is fatphobic are actually the ones being "fatphobic" because that's all they see her as. When someone mentions her name they just hear fatphobia without seeing the issue so I mean. Take that as you will *II* *3*
she’s also been very weird with guys before. no one ever talks about the time where she met niall horan and he said something along the lines of “you’re smashing it” and she turned around to him and said “you can smash this”, i only saw a few comments saying how weird that was and people glossed over it. being confident in your body and being proud of your sexuality is one thing, but being overtly sexual that borders on harrassment or inappropriate behaviour is another.
Allstar alyss yeah its not treated as weird but it should be, we clamp down on male sexual harrassment but there are still many people who don’t think women are also capable of sexual harrassment/assault or even rape
THIS. I also felt like it was weird for her to go straight sexual mode with Niall like that. Reminded me of the Amanda Bynes tweet about Drake. Celebrities publicly sexualizing other celebrities is just weird in general, don’t they have secret meetings and contacts for that?
Someone literally had an argument with me because I proved them wrong. The only argument they had against me was calling me "fatphobic" and making up false claims
lmao I don’t think op is saying “if you don’t say Lizzo is great her stans will literally break into your house and hold you at gunpoint” pretty sure they just mean it’s hard to genuinely criticize her or anything she does, because it’s mistaken for actual hate.
"I'm not going to say that word because we respect women in this house hold" I can't believe I was so shocked by a man saying that, it is basic human decency, I love you D'angelo
I can tell that you had a bad past with men/boys. Believe me, D'Angelo is not the only genuinely kind man in this world. It is crass to use the b-term/c-term to offend a woman. Trust me, there are many genuine and kind men out there, you just have to seek them out.
I lost a ton of respect for Lizzo when she put a Postmate on blast because she thought they stole her order. Surprise, they didn't. But that didn't stop people from sending the courier death threats and forcing her to quit her job because she was being stalked.
At first I thought this was going to be you claiming she was unhealthy and promoting unhealthiness to her fans, but I 100% agree with this yeah. Great video
@@youwillstarvexx1548 I mean at all her concerts she is dancing non-stop for 1.5-2 hours all the while singing while trying to not sound out of breath, then she pauses to play the flute-possibly while still dancing- then she goes back to dancing while singing, and afterwards she can't let herself look too out of breath. If I did that I think I'd die and I'm a twig
Faye Dawn Just because your lung capacity is phenomenal doesn’t mean being obese is healthy. Also, would she be as good of a runner just because she can pull off those stunts in a concert? Even elite athletes would get out of breath when walking in a long stairway. Doing what she does on stage itself is incredibly impressive but that doesn’t exclude the fact that she may be unhealthy in other areas. Also, elite athletes needs to eat double calories or they would be starving. They burn so much calories, and require a massive amount of carbs so it doesn’t burn off their muscle mass. It’s not comparable to Lizzo at all.
Her doxing that door dash person and trying to get her fired is when I stopped liking Lizzo. Treating workers that you have no idea how difficult their life situation is like that is disgusting, ESPECIALLY when you’re that rich and successful. Body positivity and confidence are great messages to have, but when you focus on issues like that and have a complete disregard for class issues, it comes across as hollow and vapid. Edit: because I sad “valid” instead of “vapid” by mistake at first lol.
Wow didnt know, disgusting. thats ellen levels of being mean towards a struggling middle class worker (whose literally just trying to serve you and do their job??) fucking cant stand celebs who dont know how to treat people with simple respect
Yup, she posted her name and photo and claimed the woman had stolen her food. Turns out, she showed up at Lizzo’s hotel, waited five minutes, and when Lizzo didn’t show up to claim the food, she rightfully LEFT. And instead of maybe calling the restaurant or calling the driver, she decided to doxx her and sic her fans on her. The driver had to quit her job because she was being harassed.
Not only was she being a bitch, she was WRONG. She didn’t have a leg to stand on. She attacked someone online when the situation was her own damn fault! Fame is only magnifying how nasty and insecure she already was as a person.
The "I'm fat and I don't care, I am boss girl" mentality, but added with sassy black girl culture. It's not new and it's also a lie. I don't know a single fat person unless wholly deluded who actually feels that way. Not that shaming is remotely okay, it's abuse and it's disgusting and a denial of what makes people fat in the first place, but acting like you are better, more powerful, more in general because of these traits is body shaming others who are not fat, black and sassy. You can accept who you are, with out having pride and inherently discrimination for those who don't share in that pride. Real confidence is not ignoring criticism, it's listening and evaluating if that criticism has any value that could contribute to you being a better you, but also not letting the flaming hate comments get to you, because you know they genuinely do not matter and contribute nothing to your life. Not saying they don't matter, but knowing they actually don't matter. I know very few, if any people who have actual confidence. I mostly see fake it till you make it insecurity, and ego masking as confidence.

@@mariag2056 bringing a traditional orchestra instrument to mainstream music (i.e. flute vs brass that's commonly used) is pretty radical, specifically to a genre that seems to hardly use any instruments besides a computer/keyboard. also re: marching bands, they have the benefit of being in a group to where you can stop playing for a few bars and it's hardly noticeable and you're not playing the whole time while marching. marching is hard ok, I've done it in New Orleans for 10 miles and it was awesome. but that certainly doesn't take away Lizzo's ability of INSANE breath control in her singing, dancing, and playing flute seemingly flawlessly for 60-90 minutes.

That's the thing. UA-cam recommend3d her UA-cam channel and there are covers on there (flute and singing) that are absolutely gorgeous. I don't get why she has to act like this when she has genuine talent. If she stands there and sings and plays, I'm sure she would still have her audience
Ethan Hayden as someone who has played the flute for 4 years, I can confirm that yes a trill is one of the most basic things u can do on the flute. A trill is literally the first thing I learned right after I learned how to make a sound. Ive heard that Lizzo has had some classical training on the flute, so I hope she decides to show it off more
I'm kinda on the fence because I feel like inherently it's not a big deal, but she made it into one by trying to sneak past without admitting it? She tried to hide it at first from what he said and it's just like? I'm sure no one wouldve cared if she was up front from the start

i’ve always felt really guilty for finding her fake. i think she’s extremely talented and i love her music, but she’s always just seemed like a character to me. i feel like “lizzo” isn’t a real person, which is the same for most musical artists, but she portrays herself as really honest and authentic. if she didn’t make it seem like “lizzo” was her true self, i wouldn’t have as much of an issue, but that isn’t the case. i feel like she hides her true feelings and talent behind a larger-than-life, theatrical figure, which makes her seem inauthentic. i’m not quite sure if that makes sense, i guess i’m just glad that other people share a similar opinion with me lol
i never really found her fake. go back like 4, 5, 6 years ago and she's still the same person, preaching the same messages even when she had like 50 fans. i think she might be struggling to find her place as a mainstream artist, especially because of all the cyber bullying she's experiencing, so she feels like she has to overcompensate. fame can take a toll on anyone but i hope she can adjust.
Look at Katy Perry’s Therapy Session. Fame isn’t normal. It’s taxing and odd for humans to have consistent exposure to everyone’s opinions and thoughts... to be watched by every single person almost every day is too much for the human brain. I think that’s why as time goes on people are becoming either 1 of two things: jealous/envious of one another and attention seeking OR wanting to change that and seek better outlets... I know Social Media has its positives, but for me, it has a lot of negatives. We’re truly like Zombies. Including myself tbh-
Victory Begins in the Garden yes i did think it was fake, but the difference with lady gaga is that she was very explicit about “lady gaga” being her stage presence. especially during her early career, she kept her true identity and her on-stage persona very separate. lizzo blurs the lines a lot more than most other musical artists with creative personas. it’s hard to tell what aspects are from her true self and which are just from “lizzo.” i would like to reiterate, though: just because i find lizzo fake doesn’t mean i don’t like her. i’m a huge fan of her music and i think she’s really talented, but that being said, she just comes across as inauthentic to me.
we like to think we’re being politically correct by automatically assuming that someone is a good person because they’re a minority or don’t fit some problematic societal standard when in reality, nobody is immune to being a flawed person. it’s unhealthy to praise anyone. stan culture and blind submission to certain celebs is unsustainable. if i’ve learned anything from growing up in the age of social media, it’s question everything.
I fully agree, but idolizing or 'stanning' people is a normal thing while going through puberty. Maybe someone 40+ you know loved the band xy when they were younger and nobody is really questioning it. Social media has made 'stans' overreact and almost obsess about their fave. Obsessing about a person is weird and shouldn’t be supported, but loving an artist is normal and I assume many of these people are 10 to 20 years old, so they fit into that category.

I'm a fan of Lizzo's to be honest, but the way you actually talked about her art/work was soo refreshing! Like, you didn't "hate" on her (which is common on youtube). Props to you! New subscriber to the chanel! (Sorry for the english, not my native language).
You can think she’s annoying but a lot of people use that as an excuse to insult her weight, which is usually the issue, not the problem of not liking her
Emma Bunch-Benson Obviously some things she did were wrong and shady and again people are allowed to hate it and critique her. I just wish they wouldn’t always call her a “fat bitch” or constantly harping on her being a fat woman of color, because it weakens their argument
What most of the criticism people I follow have had for that basketball game stuff was her defense of people not being used to seeing people like her being confident or something. Like that's kinda gross, just be a responsible adult and apologize for twerking in a thong at a public game🙃like her fans can be too wild n calling everyone phobic, but in this case she's doing it too
Some people are still more upset and jumping to say she’s now going to be fat shamed and leading with that versus calling out what she’s being accused of. It’s bad when some folks are jumping to do that versus focus on the worst of the allegations which are her harassing her employees. It’s sad but not surprising when people develop these unhealthy parasocial relationships with celebrities.
The thing is..real confidence is quiet... the person doesn't NEED to be looked at, or be the centre of attention.. when you have a big ego that is played off as being confident and loud like this... actually stems from insecurity (the need to have attention all the time and focus on yourself at all times, everything has to be about you )
I mean.... Shallon did a whole video on Lizzo. Nobody is talking about how bad that is. Because hey, he clearly agrees with her points. Shallon is not COMPLETELY full of shit.
Lizzo is so vocal about confidence and loving herself because her aim is to inspire that same level of confidence in normal women who look like her, and who don’t fit societal beauty standards. I’m not saying she’s above all criticism, or that she belongs on a pedestal, saying that she must be faking her confidence because she’s so loud about it misses the point. She’s human, obviously she has insecurities, but she talks about loving herself because she wants people who look like her to love themselves.
i find it strange that whenever somebody critisizes her without talking about her weight, the people "defending" her still bring it up. like, i think it shows a lot more about them than it does the person theyre critisizing.
Iris Woodwurst yeah it does. Body shaming is something that people are trying to fix but people don’t realize that we need to just stop focusing on appearances in order to make body shaming go away.
I N S E C U R EE It’s the case with any social issue. Don’t want homosexual inequalities ? Stop distancing homosexual and straight. Don’t want gender inequalities ? Stop giving so much importance at the fact that we’re biologically and psychologically differents. Don’t want people judging you based off your look? Don’t make everything about you about your look, that way they’ll have other thing to base their judgment on. That’s why I’m a right wing: The left, the social medias warriors, the millennials (and I’m a millennial myself) and the social movements never got and never will get this simple reality.
@@charlesmasclef1309 While this is a good and simple philosophy in a perfect world, no real changes are made by being quiet and not pointing out the inequalities. Black, women's, and gay rights were made by being loud.
아성 Yup but we’re not in the 60’s anymore, last time I checked chubby humans had the same rights as average-sized humans. I understand why you may think it’s a cheesy way to look at things but they’re not called SOCIAL inequalities for nothing, it’s the society who decide how humans will treat each others. You’re doing more harm by making a big deal out of something that isn’t. It’s also important to point out that human garbages existed before internet, it currently exists and it will still exists after we leave die.don’t give them the attention they seek.
honestly i used to love Lizzo when she was first starting out. She was a confident, Heavier black woman with a beautiful voice. Then she started pulling all this shit and so now whenever i think of her i think cringe.
This is exactly how i feel. Her music would make me feel good like Beyonce but now im just like 👁️👄👁️ now she is starting to act like she just wants people to love her and make her feel good about her self.
i remember unfollowing her on twitter because she keeps retweeting tweets with hashtags something like "Lizzo for num 1 in billboard" or something i don't remember but it was sooo annoying
That's only true if someone is sexualizing themselves even though they don't WANT to (but do so to appear confident). There are plenty of actual confident people that feel comfortable expressing themselves in a sexualized manner, and THAT is fine, too. We need to snuff out this idea that sexualizing = bad, in ALL contexts and situations, because that's some straight up 1950s level of controlling misogynist bullshit. Context and intent are EXTREMELY important. You can't make wide sweeping generalizations about something like this.
i get it, but idk to be fair it's probably meant to be a statement, like "hey you can have a body like mine and still have sex appeal!" a lot of her songs are about body positivity and feeling confident in your own skin even when you're not conventionally attractive. that being said, i AM kinda getting tired of the fetishization and toxic positivity surrounding heavy women. that's kinda what you get when you market it as sex appeal first and more importantly than anything else.
Exactly, confidence and self-love is not about taking your clothes off CONSTANTLY. walking around naked. Its about respecting yourself. Sure, sexualize yourself but not everyone and their mother too has to be the witness to it. Even if you are a celebrity. Because sooner rwther than later people are gonna forget about your art, your work and they will remember you solely for your "unpopular" deeds such as walking around naked and flashing all the time.

@@someguy4046 thank God someone with a brain here
@@someguy4046 The problem with your philosophy is that we don’t know virtually anything about her.

This is so real they don't care about the actual victims or what she did they just want some justification to fat shame people

Faye Dawn Just because your lung capacity is phenomenal doesn’t mean being obese is healthy. Also, would she be as good of a runner just because she can pull off those stunts in a concert? Even elite athletes would get out of breath when walking in a long stairway. Is there anything wrong with that?
Faith yes. Stereotypes are considered harmful for a reason lmao

Ethan Hayden as someone who has played the flute for 4 years, I can confirm that yes a trill is one of the most basic things u can do on the flute. She doesn't have to sing or talk about it though. There is so much celebrities don't share with us, it's okay to keep negative emotions in your close circles
Leonor Oliveira True, but she still grew a really big head due to fame. What she did to that door dash person proves it.
Oh I think the humility thing is because she is portraying the message that women have been imposed to be humble and we need to stop it. She is opposing by showing a more confident and a self assured version of femininity
Edit: I think it may not be ok to judge a message or ideal based on a person. I mean we are diverse and our understanding of abstract concepts may vary from one person to other, so we can't judge the message based on the way someone is expressing it
dani frau isn’t it a more positive message to be humble anyways? i understand the confidence message because women are basically trained in our society to think of themselves as less which freaking sucks, but everybody should be humble because no matter how much you have, your shit still stinks just like mine and everyone elses

i’ve always felt really guilty for finding her fake. i think she’s extremely talented and i love her music, but she’s always just seemed like a character to me. i feel like “lizzo” isn’t a real person, which is the same for most musical artists, but she portrays herself as really honest and authentic. if she didn’t make it seem like “lizzo” was her true self, i wouldn’t have as much of an issue, but that isn’t the case. i feel like she hides her true feelings and talent behind a larger-than-life, theatrical figure, which makes her seem inauthentic.
i’m not quite sure if that makes sense, i guess i’m just glad that other people share a similar opinion with me lol
Hannah Borges You put it into words. I thought I was the only person who felt like this way.
i never really found her fake. go back like 4, 5, 6 years ago and she's still the same person, preaching the same messages even when she had like 50 fans. i think she might be struggling to find her place as a mainstream artist, especially because of all the cyber bullying she's experiencing, so she feels like she has to overcompensate. fame can take a toll on anyone but i hope she can adjust.
Including myself tbh-
Did you think lady gaga was fake with her meat dress and meditation egg I did but people liked that
Victory Begins in the Garden
yes i did think it was fake, but the difference with lady gaga is that she was very explicit about “lady gaga” being her stage presence. especially during her early career, she kept her true identity and her on-stage persona very separate.
lizzo blurs the lines a lot more than most other musical artists with creative personas. it’s hard to tell what aspects are from her true self and which are just from “lizzo.”
i would like to reiterate, though: just because i find lizzo fake doesn’t mean i don’t like her. i’m a huge fan of her music and i think she’s really talented, but that being said, she just comes across as inauthentic to me.

I fully agree, but idolizing or 'stanning' people is a normal thing while going through puberty. Maybe someone 40+ you know loved the band xy when they were younger and nobody is really questioning it. Social media has made 'stans' overreact and almost obsess about their fave.

@Chaida Bango Bango hey, I don't watch her video's..I'm not too fond of them, this is just something I learned in psychologie (of egos)
Chaida Bango Bango where?

I think it's good to point out when someone is being disrespectful, but I understand what you're saying.
honestly i used to love Lizzo when she was first starting out. She was a confident, Heavier black woman with a beautiful voice. Then she started pulling all this shit and so now whenever i think of her i think cringe.
kermit is dead fr
This is exactly how i feel. Her music would make me feel good like Beyonce but now im just like 👁️👄👁️ now she is starting to act like she just wants people to love her and make her feel good about her self.
i remember unfollowing her on twitter because she keeps retweeting tweets with hashtags something like "Lizzo for num 1 in billboard" or something i don't remember but it was sooo annoying
kermit is dead
Just say fat. Someone 1lb more than me is heavier than me.
Andre I Am She works out regularly tho, no?
Bro was ahead of his time.
"Hi welcome to me talking about whatever I want."
Monica Kettelson It’s great, he’s great. :)
I resonate with this shit so fucking hard
It’s ironic the song is “truth hurts” and Lizzo was dishonest about the origins of the most iconic line of that song.
Maybe that’s why she lied about it, because the truth is painful?

Omg
@Lady Dimitrescu well, that's just plainy untrue.
@@ladydimitrescu4445 Prince thought she was talented... But sure you're the expert
I want her to know that being confident isn't sexualizing herself
That's only true if someone is sexualizing themselves even though they don't WANT to (but do so to appear confident). There are plenty of actual confident people that feel comfortable expressing themselves in a sexualized manner, and THAT is fine, too.
We need to snuff out this idea that sexualizing = bad, in ALL contexts and situations, because that's some straight up 1950s level of controlling misogynist bullshit. Context and intent are EXTREMELY important. You can't make wide sweeping generalizations about something like this.
Being confident is being able to sexualize yourself if you, yourself want to though. 🤷♀️
Narrow-minded
i get it, but idk to be fair it's probably meant to be a statement, like "hey you can have a body like mine and still have sex appeal!" a lot of her songs are about body positivity and feeling confident in your own skin even when you're not conventionally attractive.
that being said, i AM kinda getting tired of the fetishization and toxic positivity surrounding heavy women. that's kinda what you get when you market it as sex appeal first and more importantly than anything else.
This video aged so well.
