My 106 will be in Monday. Couldn't pass it up for that price. You still have to use the black box on the lvs32. The direct hookup livescope port is for the lvs12
Nice information as always. You sent me the sped sheet. Helps a lot. Waiting to get out on the water in Wisconsin. 83 years old, still somewhat cold out. GOOD FISHING DOUBLE T
Yes you need 1 Active captain SD card in your network (if you have more than one chart plotter) or just 1 in your existing chart plotter to have full capabilities of your units
I enjoy your videos. I would like to setup the basic screens I think I will use while the boat is in the garage. If I set up the split screens I think I will use most in the simulator mode, will the settings transfer to real time? Thanks Mike
Hey Mike, most of them will transfer but the simulator mode has features and settings not always available depending on the equipment attached. I’d recommend playing with the simulator but when you finalize the settings and combo screens turn the simulator off and disable all sonar by quickly pushing the power button and select disable on the menu

How do you access the preloaded lakevu maps on the echomap 106 ultra? I don’t have an icon for maps on this new unit. The box states that maps are preloaded.
It should be an icon in the upper left corner of the Home Screen for “charts” when you first power up the unit, if your not anywhere outside with GPS signal it will show you in the Bahamas lol.
Good morning, I just purchased 2 ECHOMAP 106's. I see some people mount 2 on the front and 2 on the console. Is it a big hassle changing from maps to fish finder and vice versa? Do I need 2 on the front and 2 on the console?
No it is not hard to swap at all, you can configure a combo screen and just go back and forth. I wouldn’t say it’s a waste of money to have all 4 but I don’t think it’s necessary. Try what you have and see how you like it, not too hard to add on later.
Thank you for all the great information I'm in the market my old 10" Garmin is 14 years old and finally let go I love it and want to get this 106V, where can order one from that's not from west marine or these big stores. Thanks again
I would recommend the “Bass Tank” in Tulsa Oklahoma. I talked to them at a booth for awhile when I went to the classic in FT Worth. They are really intelligent about sonar, installation and spend a ton of time on the water. They rig several of the top BASS elite anglers boats every year and have the same pricing as Bass Pro most of the time. I’ve been meaning to talk with them again, the channel was just getting started last time. Let em know Double T sent you!!

Double T - My 106SV flickers when recorded by a camera. I tried adjusting the shutter speed on my camera and it still does it? My dad has the same unit and we don't experience that with his. Any ideas what could be causing this?
It’s the refresh rate, you have the right idea with shutter speed, I found the best was 24 fps, second and most important I found was turn the backlight way down 50% to 60%. I recently purchased a decent DSLR and played with manual settings but found just setting it to 24 fps and auto worked really good. Direct sunlight on the screen is a “no go”, the flickering is horrible, you have to shade the screen
@Double T Fishing Texas Thank you! I will try out those tips. I just found it strange that my dad's does not do that at all and it's the same exact unit. Do you think not having the black box grounded could cause this? I recently pulled out my system to load up in a ice fishing caddy and I did not reconnect the ground...
Good question, I’ve always made direct solder connections but the conductor is less than 16awg so you would use a “red” connector. The ring size depends on the screw size you’re landing it on. Hope that helps
Ordering mine this week! Can you give us the foot print measurements of the base? Trying to see how it will fit on my console and do you plan on running the Ultra upfront or on the console?
It’s 11-5/8” wide x 7-5/8” tall. Total space needed with it mounted to the base is 12-1/2” wide x 9” tall and 5” deep. I’m putting mine on the console at first but may move it upfront when I get livescope
Not for basic functions, but if you don’t want the annoying pop ups and want to communicate with active captain, I’m no you should leave it plugged in. I believe it must be in to take screen shots and recordings also. Talking to the Garmin techs it sounds like they are going to be rolling more interactive active captain features in the future that may be worth leaving your card plugged in all the time, thanks for watching!!
Looks like the 106sv with gt54 transducer is going on-sale for this black friday for 1000 dollars. I currently have a helix 7 but want a bigger screen I'm just wondering if the side imaging is as good as the humminbird since i use side imaging 100% of the time.

Also the GT54 is a bit lower image quality than the latest GT56 ($499) that comes with the full price combo. With all that said you could buy the $999 10” combo, try it with the GT54. If it’s not the quality you want purchase a GT56 ($499) and maybe sell the GT54 for $150 on eBay or keep it for a backup?
How do you install the ferrite beads that came in the box. I haven't found a video on how to install them correctly. Are they not important? I installed mine but I think I did it wrong 😆

Several different answers to that question, depends on the transducer and type of sonar. In general terms your Clear vu and Side vu are limited to 100-150ft and traditional to deeper. Figure out the compatible transducer you want to connect then look at the transducer specifications in the Garmin transducer guide to determine max depth.

Very nice, congratulations!!!
Man where did you find that thing for 1000 dollars i need one
I got from Cabelas, them and Bass Pro normally have big sales during Black Friday and early spring. Keep an eye out!! I was a little worried, the 106sv wasn’t on sale during Black Friday but did go on sale in February or early March. Thanks for watching Rodrigo!!
Bass pro has them for $999.99 right now
How deep can it read?
Several different answers to that question, depends on the transducer and type of sonar. In general terms your Clear vu and Side vu are limited to 100-150ft and traditional to deeper. Figure out the compatible transducer you want to connect then look at the transducer specifications in the Garmin transducer guide to determine max depth.

Just fyi don't go for the echo. Take it from me from exp. I swapped to the GPS 1022 and it's been a blast. Say no to touch screen. It'll get your blood pumping when you have to keep trying to get back to your livescope screen.
Why wouldn’t you just use the shortcut keys and push one button to go to livescope?
Can't see anything the TT Fishing Logo is in the way.
That’s odd, I just went through it on my phone and only saw the logo on the blank chartplotter screen, what device are you watching on?
Why did you cover the screen while doing setup, you know other people have to do this also.
Can’t adjust the brightness until it goes through the initial setup, the screen was completely blown out and unreadable on my camera. Capturing images on a screen has many challenges our eyes and brain are truly amazing as I’m finding out on this video journey, have a great day Danny.
Take your logo off so it does not block out the screen !!!
Ya probably should have, sorry
Just one thing it's not an ECO map it's a echo map people for the love of God stop saying Eco Map it's echo like how bats use echo location 😮
It's not eco friendly or good for the environment 😂😂😂
Gotcha! Thanks
Take that logo off the screen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry it bothered you, hope you have a better day Bill.
